This was hilarious! I really loved the bits with George Michael and Gordon Brown, but it was great how well they all took the mickey out of themselves. Great timing.

Wow what arrogance and perhaps cluelessness from the writers, soldiers are over there committing war crimes on behalf of the American plutocracy, and they have the gall to say the forces are there to "restore stability". I'm as big a fan of FPS'ers as the next guy, but if they are going to use real world locations, at least make an attempt to learn about the situation there first.
How would you feel if another country invaded you town or city for its oil, then killed tens of thousands of your women, children, students, reporters etc, but if you fought back you were branded terrorists. Walls are built to divide you from your friends and close family, stealth bombers, Black Hawks, Apaches and UAV's patrol your skies, tanks roll through your streets, yes that's stability we are bringing to you backward folks.
I just looked up the deathcount in Iraq, currently it's sitting at ~100,000 civilians. The people that buy this game and support the developers are basically saying that these 100,000 deaths, many of whom are buried in mass graves, are nothing more than a joke.
A couple from last month:
8th Feb - Father and son shot dead in Al Moushahada, north Baghdad
10th Feb - Mobile phone shop owner shot dead in central Falluja
11th/12th Feb - Student by explosive device in Yaychi, southwest of Kirkuk
15th Feb - Man shot dead in front of house in Kirkuk

This is because they've sold their souls to the US Military Propoganda Wing (sorry Media Relations) in exchange for their help making the game more 'authentic'. See a video explaining this type of relationship here, as it pertains to Hollywood.

Of course, the trade off for their expert assistance is that they get to veto anything in script that they don't approve of. Any mention of atrocities and civilian deaths at the hands of the US would be the first thing on the chopping block. Look at the latest Medal of Honour for example: reference to the opposing force being named Taliban called for removal. EA buckled to the demand, preserving their ongoing cooperation.

Which isn't to say that you can't enjoy these games for what they are. But do recognise the implicit recruiting advertisments and general support for the war industry.

Please direct us to a few of those movies with quality fights scenes in your opnion. Thank you in advance...>> ^swedishfriend:
Funny, the fight scenes are some of the worst out there. reminds me of the super slow exaggerated stunt fighting from the 80's. I liked Serenity in spite of the fight scenes not because of them. There have been so many films with good fight scenes at any budget level that I am amazed how once in a while films still get made with such lame feeling action. Being flexible and acrobatic is not as important as having an intelligent use of the forces you throw around to at least look like you are putting some force into each hit VS I am touching you gently now and then you fly backwards as if a much greater force hit you. The dissonance between cause and effect is so great that it looses any impact.

Three off the top of my head:

Luke and Vader's fight at the end of Empire Strikes back, particularly the final scene on the gantry.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-DeI3ohVbY
It's inelegant, rough and psychological; Vader is toying with Luke, who is clearly inferior, in an attempt to break his will. Way better than any of the fancy choreographed rubbish fights of the prequels.

Total Recall, the fight with Quaid and his mate from the quarry, along with his goons.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KtHhIePpZg
For an action movie it does well, not too cheesy (though they sorta come at him one at a time, I guess) and he just kills them quickly any way he can. It establishes that the character possibly has latent abilities he didn't know about, as even he is surprised/shocked.

And although I generally view Kung-Fu as largely aesthetic, at least the way films depict it, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon's style nicely blended in a mythical aspect to their abilities (gliding across roofs and treetops).
For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OxQ-2gR1DU

I agree with @swedishfriend, that even if it's all pure fantasy, if it doesn't *look* like someone actually delivered any force with their fancy legwork, then it doesn't hold water for me. It's fine to film it that way if they want to, but it's just that there have been other fantasy films that have depicted combat better. Kung-Fu seems to be a sort of crutch that Hollywood leans on for making their fight scenes look more genuine. But I just really wonder how well all that twisting of arms and balancing on toes would really stand up against a kick-boxer, or other more practical style.

Ohh, also the needless twirling of swords... How I grit my teeth when I see that.

Black Ops: Why So Serious?

Fixating on things that bother you can be productive, for example it can drive people to right wrongs. But I do agree that focusing on problems through only a microscope can lead you to miss a wider picture; not seeing things in context.

Like Icarus, moderation is the goal. Too much emotion will lead to irrational conclusions and action, but the opposite extreme is equally destructive. Passivity or the suppression of internal conflict for its own sake can leave you unchanging or unwilling to act where you should.

On the whole though, I very much appreciate his thoughts. It sounds like he's having a moment of epiphany, which is a truly special event for a person.

Yeah I hear that. They've not really changed much from that approach to the show; i.e commentating on what the media has said. Cenk's said in the past he'd love to be able to hire a proper reporter. On the other hand, I've learned a lot from Cenk over the years on how to decifer what a politician is saying versus what they mean.

I find Ana makes some really fine observations, but she can also be a total ditz at times. Man, every time she makes 'jokes' about how hot she is... ಠ_ಠ

Um, I wasn't talking about Cenk. Even Tits McGee's audio is terrible. Also, bandwidth? What bandwitdth are they paying for? Last I checked, Youtube was free. >> ^BoneyD:
>> ^MarineGunrock:
God, I hate TYT. Why the fuck is their audio recording so shitty? My cell phone has better clarity than these morons' set-up.
Also, why the fuck can't I just watch a newsclip?

Because Cenk is in New York, talking via PolyCom back to their Los-Angeles studio. Previously, they were using Skype while he was over there, which was just a god-awful experience; constantly breaking up or cutting out.
Why isn't it better? Well... I guess despite TYT turning over $1 million a year from member fees, advertising and YouTube partnership, their 11 employees and bandwidth costs must be expensive. The stream from the LA studio itself has improved over what it was a couple of years ago and the YouTube clips are generally much higher quality.
I dunno. For a non-corporate media outlet, I think they do okay.

They broadcast their whole 2 hour show on the site, looping 24 hours a day. Statsholic shows ~45k unique visitors a day and similar from freewebsitereport. How much data they actually use, I have no idea; but I didn't suggest that bandwidth was their sole expense.

BTW, I had watched this segemnt from the live stream. When I went back and watched this YT clip, it was WAY clearer. Is it 1080p? No. But does it really, really need to be that good?

I gotta say, I've gained a little bit of appreciation for Bieber after this. Whereas the Bieberites would get off on the bad-boy renegade angle, he must've known that this scene would be edited out on the net, greatly pleasing his haters.

Talk about fan service.
