Dogma - Evil is an Abstract

Interesting. I just read Sandman - Season of Mists, which is a great graphic novel. This idea that the pain inflicted in hell is at the beckoning of the sinners and not the Devil appears verbatim in the novel. Eventually Lucifer gets tired of this masochistic drama and kicks everyone out of hell against much resistance. Kevin Smith is a big comic book aficionado. I wonder if he was inspired by novel.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to check that book out.

Tim Robins explains how corporations are bad (Team America)

God, sometimes I hate these guys. Tim Robbins is actually quite articulate, and their so-called "making fun of everyone" is only furthering the apathetic paradigm of many of the generation that grew up watching South Park and Team America.

Oh, and once again. this isn't parody. It's satire.

Watchmen Trailer

8926 says...

I actually enjoyed the trailer, and I've read the Graphic novel a couple of times. They were clearly doing some things for the fans and some for the general public. They showed us each of the main characters in action (fans), but also included a higher percentage of action sequences than are likely in the movie so that it would be more marketable to the general public. I don't think the trailer sheds any large amount of light on what the actual film is going to be like. On a side note, I loved the music choice.

I think the trailer's purpose was more to establish the tone and style of the film rather than the plot. After all, did any of you who read the graphic novel actually find it more special because of the plot, or because of the tone, theme, and characters? I would argue the novel's plot was not nearly as remarkable as these other elements.
