Noam Chomsky - Free Market Fantasies

12548 says...

I've always thought "free market" was a vague buzz word. Just like any social definition (socialism, capitalism, liberal, etc.), it fails to mean anything because it is so widely used. It's nice to see Noam go beyond the blanket definition and talk about all the different aspects of free market.

If you think racism isn't an issue, watch one of the many videos of their rallies. The "racist" vote actually counts and they don't want to give it up. They'd rather use suggestive language to appeal to racists, but just be under the radar to be called on it.

Instead of doing the right thing, they "pally around" with racists.

How to Deal with Cops Attempting to Search Your Vehicle

12548 says...

IMO, if you stand up like this, you'll just get harassed and an American cop would most likely step over the line just because they can.

A real solution would be to organize a group, create a bill and collect supporters from government that puts county-based, buddy-buddy law enforcement in bed for good.

The Video Your Leaders Don't Want You To See

Actually, this process of separation uses more energy than just transferring electricity. That is why this technology is dead. Simply storing the electricity is much more efficient than wasting it running it through water.

[edit] I withdraw my comment, seeing as I didn't watch the full video 1st. I didn't see the part where the hydrogen was made when all batteries were fully charged.

Jon Stewart -Live- Northeastern University- "Fuck You" Palin

12548 says...

"but to say New York is somehow more indicative of "Traditional American Values" than Little Town America because it was attacked by terrorists is kinda silly."

Where in his talk did he say or imply that? You're confusing the issue. His point was that cities are just as important as small towns.

Why Atheists Care About YOUR Religion

12548 says...

The Hitler argument is just a logical fallacy. It's called affirming the consequent.

This is the logic:
Hitler was atheist and was bad. Therefore atheists are bad.

You cannot confirm the cause without establishing the same link between the cause and effect of both situations.

In Hitler's case, there is a link: He had ultimate power over the people and no accountability to peer criticism. Most religions carry these same ideas, which is why they also have these bad histories.

Albeit, there are more operatives in these situations than I'm addressing, such as the "them and us" phenomena, or genetic and epigenetic traits of Hitler, or Hitler's childhood. The list goes on.
