Personal Queue Amnesty Day(s)

PREFACE: For months I've debated the merits vs. drawbacks of posting such an article. In the end I decided to let the chips fall where they may and let you decide.
________________

I'll start off by asking two questions:

1. How many of you have 30 or more videos in your Personal Queue?
2. How many of your Personal Queue videos have only 1 vote?

The responses to those are critical, IMHO, because I think it's time for everyone here to take a brutally savage inventory of their PQs by asking themselves, "Is it time to cut this (these) video(s) loose?"

I can't tell you how many PQs I've visited with dozens and dozens of videos, and all I can ask myself is, "Why?" I mean I've seen videos 6 months old with 1 vote. Is it really worth hanging on to? The reason I ask that last question is simple: Why don't you simply * kill it and then resubmit it if you feel that strongly about it? That is, if you * kill a video with only ONE vote then instantly resubmit it, you've lost absolutely nothing in total votes. So why don't you? Even if you do the same thing with a video that has only two votes, you've only lost a grand total of one vote. Is it THAT big of a loss?

I bring this up for a simple reason: Every day I do my best to visit the PQ of at least one member, and look at all of their videos that might have slipped the cracks on the first go-around. HOWEVER, I am not inclined to go through the entire queue of someone who has more than 40 or 50 videos. The reason for that is simple: I don't have the time. And if a loser like me doesn't have the time, then what chance do you have with the rest of the Sifters who actually have lives? Hopefully you see where I am going with this.

NOW, the biggest argument against my proposal of disposing with your lowest-vote videos in your PQ is simple: "What if I discard a video, then someone else submits it and it sifts?" Well, the answer to that is simple: So what? When it was sitting in your personal queue holding only one or two votes, what good did it do you? Do one or two votes make or break you? REALLY? In other words, don't be jealous of someone else's success. I've passed on numerous videos, only to see someone else sift them and have them enter the Top 15. Anyone who's been here long enough has experienced something similar. Is it something to get worked up about, or is it better to let it slide? By now I hope you know how I feel about it.

In conclusion, give my proposal some thought, if nothing else. If you decide to hang on to every single one of your 50+ PQ videos, no one will denounce you. HOWEVER, your higher-vote PQ videos stand a better chance of being sifted if you cull the weakest from your herd. Just one man's opinion.
