Some time ago I happened to glance over the current users list and saw a name that looked suspicious, sure enough the user had just created an account and posted a self-linked video.

They were banned in a very timely manner. So I started to think, with Videosift becoming more popular then ever before, if it wouldn't be prudent to have a new members page. This way we could catch most self-links and spammers before they get very far.

Of course there already seems to be pretty swift action against such abuses, but beyond the VS militia purposes this could also serve as a way to welcome new members into the community.

So what do you think? Best idea ever? or greatest idea ever?
