New Google Video Features

Today Google Video added some new features, but they are not totally functional just yet. There’s a star rating option – up to five stars for a video. There’s write a comment feature. And there is an “Add label” feature. The label feature is basically a tag system. More videos will need tags for this to work properly though.

It's a step in the right direction, for sure. I wonder how long long it will be before google uses voice recognition technology to transcribe dialogue in the video and thus make that searchable as well? Additionally it would be cool if they did some kind of image parsing/computer vision thing to find videos with images of "cars" in them for example.

Google had transcripts originally but then backed out, presumably under pressure from CBS or whoever else it was planning on doing deals with.

Good catch on the google features, dotdude, I wandered onto the blog to share the same observation but you beat me to it.

Oh, check this out - a different new feature has appeared (voting is still off, though):
