Minor correction requested in VS "points" system information

Hi. One of my comments got to 15 votes and I got this email:

Thank you, Retroboy, for responding to our internet advertisement that allows you to add at least one full inch to your pe

SORRY sorry! Wrong email. Damn cut and paste buffer!

Here.

Congratulations! Your comment has just received enough votes from the community to earn you 1 Power Point. Thank you for your quality contribution to VideoSift.

Now when I clicked the link to see what comment it was, I got a little cute blue-edged rectangle next to the "upvote" button on the comment in question. When I moused over it, it told me the following.
star point awarded for member applause

So I looked at my profile, and here are the salient bits.
Username: Retroboy
Number of virtual date requests submitted: 103
Number of virtual date requests accepted: 2
Number of virtual date requests refused: 101
Number of requests from recipients to ignore user: 84
Number of requests from recipients to ban user: 46
Number of user requests forwarded to police: 31
Most commonly used word found in received replies: 'weirdo'
Most commo

SORRY, wrong cut and paste again. Frig!

Here. I'll just tell you that I have more upvoted comments than star points.

So I just wanted to point out that a minor correction to Sift's labels might be in order.

...and that I apparently suck at cutting and pasting.

Lemme fix that for you...

There is a typo in the hover text for applauded comments. Should say "power" not "star".

Though the original intention was quality and applauses used to get star points. I think you do get both though. Or at least my star points = videos + quality + applauded

How does retroboy have 6 star points?

In an nutshell, that's what I was wondering because I didn't understand the math. Thought I could have some fun with the question.

Actual stats:
5 sifted videos (2 of them to top 15)
9 applauded comments
but only
6 star points.

It's because applauding comments used to give star point, but now they give power points. The star points have not been retroactively removed, thus you probably had a applauded comment back in the day.

That's unfortunate for new people like me - makes it *much* harder to reach upper star levels. But I can understand why it's that way because sifting, not commenting, is the core of this place.

Thanks for the clarification. The change must have been recent because I've only been a member for 3 months.

Should this be in the FAQ?

You're right, it was much easier back in the day. I think I remember that there wasn't a limit on deadpool fixes, so you could earn fifteen star points in one sitting fixing dead vids. Now you can only earn a point once every two days or something. As far as whoring star points go, all that's left is making some SiftTalk post and hoping some fool comes by and *qualitys it.

That only lasted for about 2 days when the dead pool was first created. It was quickly changed when someone fixed something like the first 30 vids in the pool and got a gold star. After that, you could only get 1 star point a week for fixing deads, regardless of how many you fixed (1 or 100). Now, you get power points for dead fixing.
