Making Playlist Suggestions
After noticing that a large number of the playlists I come across in some manner make a request for suggestions, I realized there isn't really a straightforward way to do such a thing. That was then. Now, if you want to allow other members to suggest a video for your playlist, tick the "Allow viewers to suggest videos" box in its settings. This will present other members (only other members; you can't give yourself suggestions, silly) who are viewing the playlist a box in which a video's URL may be pasted.
These suggestions are shown only to the playlist's owner and also note the member that made the suggestion. If the owner decides to add the video, the suggestion will automatically be removed.
Give it a whirl and let us know your thoughts, requests, complaints here. One thing I'm particularly curious to know is if you think everyone should be able to see the videos that have been suggested for a playlist. Thoughts?

/playlist/benjee/video/what-its-like-on-LSD-Lasse-Gjertseninstead of/video/what-its-like-on-LSD-Lasse-Gjertsen). I guess it's using a relative rather than a uniform link; as it points to the video it thinks is in my own playlist. Or you've typed the address in wrong?I don't see any problem in showing suggestions to all users...In fact, I think it could be useful in case a few users suggest the same Sift (or does it check for a unique URL when suggesting?)
lucky760Thanks for pointing that out ben. The link is fixed and I've made the suggestions visible to everyone; I'll change it back if popular opinion desires it. It was designed to disallow duplicate suggestions, so that's not a problem.
swampgirlThanks for adding "shuffle" to the Christmas list on the front page, Lucky. Now everyone's Xmas sift gets some face time. :-)
lucky760Not a problem, swampgirl! For anyone else who doesn't know what she's talking about, we made the featured playlist in the sidebar show randomly selected videos instead of just showing the first 5.
