Having a backup for videos
If a video Ive sifted becomes dead, can I upload a copy of it, and embed that copy? Any ideas on where a video can be uploaded, and have the best chance of not being found, and eliminated?

Your best bet is to have someone (I'd be glad to) upload it with completely nondescript tags and title. That way, a search won't pull it up.
The nondescript titles/tags idea is right on the money.
BTW, Miro does a nice job of downloading from YT/GooVid.
I use www.keepvid.com - as long as you're using a listed site, it works perfectly every time. I've already begun to make backups of things that will get "foxed" or that aren't around every corner on the net, like my Seinfeld clip.
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
Just to avoid future issues wherein people would not know the full circumstances, I think it would be better to let a fellow sifter upload it.
We may have another option for this kind of thing in the near future ...
