Finally upgraded
So I've finally gotten off my butt and ordered all the parts to build a new PC. I was running:
(built 2004)
3.2 Ghz P4 (single core with hyperthreading)
400mhz bus speed
250 GB IDE Maxtor
NVidia 7800 AGP
2 GB pc2700 ram
New system:
Core i7 920
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
4 GB PC10666 DDR3 (I'm staying with XP, will upgrade ram after new Windows comes out)
EVGA GTX 260 894mb
640 GB SATA HD
Blu-ray burner
So the reason for the post, other than shameless self-promotion, is I need to build it and test the hell out of it. Can anyone recommend any "burn-in" programs, etc? Remember, I'm sticking with XP 32-bit for now.
All told, with parts, etc, I spent just over 12. All to make my porn look better.

Good on ya, mate.
What are you gonna do with it? Game?
^Oh, of course. I've got a back catalog of games that I haven't even played or been able to see in their full glory: Bioshock, COD4 (never played it), UT3 (never played it), L4D (only seen on low settings, no shadows). Just been too busy with school.
And of course school work, surfing, Videosift , etc. I'm actually excited to see what Blu-ray will look like as I have a 47" 1080P TV but have only been using an upconverting DVD player. So it'll be the first time for that too.
But does anyone recommend a good "burning in" software? Is BurnInTest any good?
I don't know what that is, but Cnet likes it and I've found their Editor's reviews to be spot on.
Wow, just over 12 bucks? That's cheap. Can you build me one, too? I'll pay you an extra five bucks on top of that for labor.
Absolutely. I still owe ya for the avatar.
Nice purchase but I really can't understand your decision to buy a Blu-ray burner considering there are loads of alternatives that can stream HD (H264 in MKV) content directly to your TV from high end products like Popcorn Hour to much cheaper alternatives like WD HD TV.
I'm not familiar with the above products. I haven't had cable TV since 2003 so I don't know if that matters. My only outlet is movies on DVD and some Hulu. Will have to look into those.
