Furthermore would anyone agree that playslists could do with some attention? Like being able to search them and zone in on playlists on a given subject/theme?

This feature already exists.

You just have to bookmark the playlist.

I thought that was only for comments on things you had bookmarked, and that it was an email. I almost never check the email account I have attached to VS, so a profile message would be better.

You get an email when a new video is added to a bookmarked playlist.

The rest of the community might not agree with getting updates to your profile, just like they wouldn't want a PM every time someone commented on one of their bookmarked vids.

If you're vehemently opposed to the email and staunchly in favor of making it a PM notification, start a poll and if everyone else feels the same maybe we'll change it.

To say that my feelings on the matter don't reach the level of vehemence is an understatement. I just figured that since PMs generate an email in any case, it would more effective. And we can delete messages from our profile page pretty easily - I do it all the time when siftbot leaves some inanity.

But yeah maybe a poll will follow soon to see if anyone else would rather PMs instead of or in addition to emails. thanks lucky.
