Collective Efficiency
Seems to me, that the collective taken a step backward, should get everything compartmentalized, to the smooth grooving of the sifts collective.... "desire", to provide a category and that in a box, easily accessed...
Propose a fell swoop move, to "associate" already posted viddies with a category or collective....perhaps a one-time or once annual, filing manuver,
for example:
The Matt Groening appreciation collective, will never have all the Troy Mc Clure posts pre-colective...What's the sense in that!!!
Rules make sense for good reason, they keep monkeys safe from the other monkeys' inability to function in a society bent on survival for the best of all......but sometimes, they need revision.....
Anyone???...if it has already been hashed out, I missed it, and if it has yet to be, forgive the anexiety, perhaps the admins need more whatever it is that gets their matter happnin'! Hurry up and fix the pain, it may be that more drastic fretting is needed.....

Choggie, I couldn't agree more. May we associate already posted videos with collectives? Puhhhleeeeeaazzze?!!!
And if you weren't saying what I thought you were saying . . . I disagree vehemently.

nope, ya got it.....
I do agree, in theory, as some of you might know, I have an almost OCD-like need to categorize things... but I can anticipate a few huge problems with associating past posts to collectives...
Since vids can only be associated with one collective (which under the current structure the poster of the vid designates) if we change it so collective owners can designate past posts as part of their collective this will potentially spawn fighting over vids among collective owners. I know in some cases it seems pretty clear cut, Troy McClure vids should go in the Groening bin, duh, no arguments there. But what about Zombies? They could be argued for addition to either the HorrorShow, or the Grindhouse collective, or even SciFi or BallFlexin depending on the clip. So I think maybe changing the rules on this might spawn more trouble than it is worth.
Also, by adding vids to collectives post-publication, there will be a disruption of the current collective ranking system, with collectives will gaining votes, not because their membership has worked towards them, but because the owner happened to be online at the right moment and grabbed all the vids even remotely related to their collective.
Another potential problem is that vids are only associated with a collective at the poster's discretion, and some posters might have strong feelings about their vids being associated with one collective instead of another, or with any at all.
If vids are going to be post-publication associated to a collective then it should be the poster's choice, this would eliminate the possibility of fighting among collective owners and of posters being upset by the collective designation their vids end up with.
As is, collective owners can designate 'associated' videos via playlists, it's not as great, but it is something, and this way, no one collective can gobble up all the vids it wants just because the owner is super-vigilant or happens to be online at the right time.
Good news everyone - what raven - said - you can associate related videos to collectives with playlists. The logic for the system as it stands is quite sound.
So make your ultimate McClure or whatever playlist and suggest it to the collective owner. 9 times out of 10, I predict they'll gladly agree.
