Well I'd have to say you need about 142 more star points before you need to worry about owning a new channel. But a Robot channel might be nice, however small it may be.

Of course a lot of channel owners are AWOL and there just aren't enough diamonds to run them all. If VS decides that some Gold 100's need to step up, I'm sure you and I (as well as a few others) would be willing to step up and take over if need be.

Here’s gorgonheap’s Channel Roll Call post from about a month ago. Quite a few MIAs on there; the only new owner I know of is jimnms taking over the Religion channel.
But yeah, if more Gold 100s want to take over one, I think that would be helpful.

What bugs me is a lot of old channels were created by 100 stars(1st tube is Grimm par exemple), and even 1 or 2 non-100 goldies (oatmeal and video games). I don't find it fair how the minimum level for channel creation has changed so dramatically. So lower the minimum or relinquish the channels from their non diamond owners.

I believe in the beginning these were all "collectives". At the time these collectives were used to form channels, whomever ran the collective got the channel. Also, sometimes when a member leaves he or she relinquishes control, whether voluntarily or through a "roll call" and members can petition to take that over. As far as creating a channel being for 250 and up, I agree with this as too many channels could be formed if the standards weren't so high.

Fairness doesn't have anything to do with it. That's just how we rolled back then. As the site evolved things like this had to be recalibrated.

issykitty almost started one, instead she started the happy channel. Just put all your electronic music there, I'm sure she won't mind.
