King Tut - SNL

eric3579 says...

I don't recall buying it myself, but was defiantly the first record i ever owned. My mom however had bought me a Bay City Rollers (i had no idea who they were) cassette years earlier.

(edit) now im on a tangent
The first albums i actually bought myself were Don't Look Back (Boston), Van Halen, and Best of Earth Wind and Fire. All three for under twenty bucks which i had received on my birthday.

Only two official videos from Shout at the Devil (original) were Looks that Kill and Too Young to Fall in Love. In '97 they did a video for the remake of Shout at the Devil.

IE, this is fanmade.

What Die-Hard Fans Don't Even Know About The Big Bang Theory

ChaosEngine says...

There's a pretty big gap between dumb as a sack of hammers nonsense like Big Bang and 2.5 men (both created by the same guy, I think) and something like It's Always Sunny or Breaking Bad.

I'm not saying you're wrong to dislike Breading Bad or It's Always Sunny (I thought BB was great, but It's Always Sunny never really grabbed me), just that they're not really in the same category.

It's just kinda like saying "I don't really like pop music. I don't like Lady Gaga; she's like Katy Perry or Pink Floyd. And I tried to get into Led Zeppelin, but the first album sucked".

I've never watched it, and find it really surprising that it's been on for over 10 years now. Over that time period, I've had a good number of friends and acquaintances ask me, "Do you know The Big Bang Theory?" I've always answered, "Yes, I'm aware of it," usually followed by my wondering if they're some kind of "Young Earther." With this sift I've now realized it's a sitcom. And it's just going into a long queue of "must-see" TV shows, like Two-and-a-Half Men, Always Sunny in BlaBla, etc. Somebody pushed me to watch Breaking Bad, but after just a few episodes...and Jesse the Idiot not dead yet...I had to quit. What a Gilligan! I guess I'll just go back to reading, and wait for Rick and Morty...and maybe, just maybe, they'll finally make a movie of Deadwood.

How to make everyone on a bus hate you

poolcleaner says...

I would very much enjoy it if you blasted some Carnivore right next to me on a bus. That first album is legendary.

How is Nick going to like it when I sit next to him and blast some M.O.D., Carnivore, or Fearless Iranians From Hell in his ear?

Deep Purple - Highway Star

When I was around 12 I got my first album and it was Deep Purple Made in Japan. Machine head is a must. DP has always been a favorite.

Beck "Wah-Wah"

Sagemind says...

I still think of Beck as a One-hit-wonder.

Edit: I have his first album, but haven't been able to make it past the first song..., Cause I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me.

Wish I Was Here - First Teaser Trailer

lucky760 says...

I was very happy to hear the first audible note of the teaser to be The Shins. I hoped their latest album (which is great, btw) would be a strong presence in his new movie like their first album was in his last movie, and it looks like I will not disappointed.

I hope this does great in the box office. I think this looks like an excellent flick.

Babymetal: J-pop-metal crossover

poolcleaner says...

SPEAK ENGLISH OR DIE

Yellow Machinegun anyone? They don't always wear the school girl thing, but the first album I owned of theirs featured them wearing schoolgirl outfits and SCREAMING!

This ain't new or news. Lamer, poppier version of something that's been around for more than 20 years.

My wife works in fashion, designs for Urban Outfitters, PacSun, Roxy, Quicksilver, etc. etc. Your girlfriend or wife probably owns either a handbag or an article of clothing designed by her. The styles and trends that are in take us all the way back to Cramps/Misfits/Rocky Horror fashion sense, amalgamated with '90s nihilism and modern pop (often hip hop, but in the case here, J Pop) trends.

Nothing new is happening and that makes it SOOOOOO much easier to anticipate the trends and succeed in making people think something "new" is on the horizon. lol

They sure seem taller than I expected.

Also, upvote for the original version of a song I originally learned of from Nouvelle Vague (one of my favorites, check their first album out).
