You're F*ckin' High

Christ, I got this speech from my parents and younger brother back in August while we were on vacation. Fortunately I live in Minnesota and that bluish hue isn't just due to the fact that we're freezing our balls off. So I'll happily vote for Stein or write in Sanders.

The 'typical female activities' she references are what Clinton claimed was the subject of the deleted e-mails - "all other emails were personal and pertained to matters such as "yoga routines," "family vacations," and "planning Chelsea's wedding."" Palin's implying that this is bullshit, and that Clinton is using femininity as a shield against inquiry.

The reason why this is confusing to us is that Palin's followers are already so familiar with this line of attack that she doesn't need to spell it out - she just needs to reference the keywords. It's a meme to them - "Haha, 'yoghazi'" - so Palin can just add to the meme with 'Downward dog' and achieve her intended effect

Pokemon Sparks Stampede in Taipei

poolcleaner says...

From experience, there is no map in the game, but there are various third party apps available that people use to pinpoint rare pokemon. It is against the terms of service to use these third party sites, so many people avoid them and just follow wherever the crowd goes -- or whomever they believe has an accurate map location and can prove it. Or the person running the fastest and with their phone in hand, excited about catching a pokemon.

Interesting thing to note is this: Sometimes the crowd is following a troll who uses a screenshot of a past rare pokemon in a location where there is no pokemon, causing a stampede of people who will end up wandering and wandering to no where at all.

It's quite sad... and funny.

So if you want to be an epic, EPIC, MOTHERFUCKING real life stampede creating TROLL, just go to locations where people play pokemon and pretend you know where rare pokemon are.

However... I did see someone get punched in the face after trolling someone, so... you may wish to vacate the area after trolling 1,000 real life humans in real life. Not quite just a game in that respect.

You may also wish to be a good actor and understand the concept of the game better than most non-players so that you can effectively troll people. Obvious trolls troll no one. Good trolls troll the fucking world.

What?!? Some idiot built a dangerous water slide on their property and let other people use it?!?
If they don't have good insurance, I guess this rider just earned himself a vacation property on Lake Travis. "Lucky" him.

Where to start……
The forced laughter when someone’s buddy is filmed wiping out - AH hahaha AH hahaha

99.9% of “selfies”, I despise that word. I don’t want to see your pasty bloated pimply mug so close-up like we’re jammed in a fuckin elevator and I can count your nose hairs. Wearing either the blank dumb look people have when looking at their computer screen or camera phone, or the overly gleeful shit-eating ventriloquist dummy look, All it takes is a camera lens to make people go ape-shit, like a baby making faces in a mirror. When did that shit become normal?

Any kind of rambling monologue with the subject weighing in on the stupid shit of the day, like they are some wise head of state being interviewed on some crisis. Or filming themselves narrating at the scene of some non-event, like they are Edward Murrow reporting on the London Blitz.

The vast majority of trend videos, like “Things New Yorkers Say”, etc. They generally have high production values but ZERO talent on the actual writing. The “punchlines” are usually weak or non-existent, apparently there’s no such thing as out-takes anymore. It’s usually weak material followed by long pauses, which I guess if you drag it out long enough it somehow becomes funny. “Modern Family” and “The Office” have beat that non-punchline pause to death. “Spinal Tap” was the only mock-umentary that ever worked, everything else is just weak.

Idiots who edit videos and who don’t have the basic sense to accommodate people who haven’t seen the material. I’m watching a video on YouTube of vacation snaps from someone’s trip to the mountains of Chile, and they leave each photo onscreen for about 1.2 seconds, with the editor’s goal to use every single transition available in the editing palette to move on to the next picture. It’s amateurish.

Someone else mentioned videos with overly long intros\titles and I agree. It's not "Gone With the Wind", it's a video of your dog pissing in your living room, just get to it.

Back in a few, going to pour my second cup of the day. :-)

Cop Harassing The Wrong BMX Bikers Gets Shut Down

newtboy says...

When they are in the top 10 most dangerous jobs in America, you might have a point...but they aren't, and yet they are paid better than nearly every dangerous job on the list of dangerous jobs.
They CLAIM to have the most dangerous job in America, but it's simply not true. In fact, in an interaction with an officer, it's 10 times more likely that the officer will shoot the citizen than it is the other way around, so if danger is the pay rate metric, cops should pay US.

No, he saw NOTHING, someone who doesn't know they are allowed to ride there complained to him.

Again, if danger is the metric, cops are paid WAY too much, far more than the more dangerous jobs out there, and they also get benefits and many have special laws that allow them to do things normal citizens can't and offers protections that normal citizens don't have (like free lawyers, a blue wall, friends that will harass anyone making a charge against one, free FULL medical, vacations, bullet proof vests, Kevlar gloves, weapons, free vehicle(s), double pay-overtime, etc.).

No, it IS a median wage task, with approximately median risk, or less. If they don't want to do it for that money, don't take the job. It's NOT a job that's worth >$111 an hour + benefits. Animal care workers have a much more dangerous job, and they make <$20K per year. In fact, of the top ten most dangerous jobs, only airline pilot pays better than being an officer, which is NOT even in the top 10 most dangerous jobs.

When they're exposed to the median risk of workers in America then I'll agree with this.

But they aren't. It's their job to deal with the most dangerous people, the most dangerous situations. This cop in the video is a bit of a dick to these kids but maybe he's been watching them get in the way of other people and make a nuisance of themselves, who knows? Maybe he goes about talking to them a bit wrong, but to be fair I don't see an awful lot wrong here.

But if a fight breaks out nearby and someone pulls a gun everyone else there gets to run away. But that guy in the blue uniform is expected to get involved and sort it all out. That's not a median wage task.

Cop Maces Bikers As They Ride By On The Freeway

Krupo says...

Yeah, Ontario has the rule now too, implemented a couple of years ago, but for a specific reason: there was apparently an idiotic game some big rigs drivers would play, trying to knock off an officer's hat with their side mirror. With predictably horrible results.

To avoid the lame defense that it was an oopsie, drivers are not forced to vacate the lane.

It was extended to cover all emergency vehicles and tow trucks last year too IIRC.

And I did actually see a woman get pulled over by a cop for buzzing by in the right lane - that, of course, is the appropriate response, rather than a ridiculous pepper spray attack. Wow.

I think they were referring to this portion:

(1) vacate the lane closest to the emergency vehicle when driving on a highway with two or more lanes traveling in the direction of the emergency vehicle

However, I can tell you that on a stopped police car, I have never seen someone follow this rule in Texas and I've been driving here since 1989. I would also add that the penalty for breaking this law is a misdemeanor, it doesn't specify in the statute that the officer should use a weapon on the drivers that might cause them to wreck and create havoc.

The Most Satisfying Video Ever Made

hazmat22 says...

I'm catching up on the sift after a weeks vacation, had to track this down on youtube due to the takedown. I sifted the full marble video on here a while back, disappointed to see they were the ones who issued a takedown for like 6 seconds of video....

Didn't care a whole lot for the music though, maybe that was their reasoning!

I could see this starting a new trend in video/viral stuff. This feels incredibly candid, to the point of it being the same as the usually-embarrassing videos that friends and family will put together from their vacations, but no one wants to watch.
I bet agents and promoters the world over are going to start encouraging their celebrity clients to put together shit like this on their own so they can get in on the new 'dorky-celebrity-couple-who-can't-stop'lovin'-life" meme.

Bernie's New Ad. This is powerful stuff for the Heartland

bobknight33 says...

He honeymooned in Russia.

Bernie Sanders is a Communist Sympathizer.

Bernie Sanders is the first Democrat who is honest about being a socialist. After all, with their policies demanding more and more government intrusion into our business and personal lives, they could only hide the truth of what they actually believe for that much longer. However, since socialism has failed everywhere it’s been tried, Bernie even admitted that the word socialism has become somewhat of a hindrance. Of course, you could point out all the despotic Socialist regimes, and you’d be making a good point. However, Bernie would still disagree with you! Not because he doesn’t think the mass murder and famine were a bad thing, but a good one. That’s right. An interview with Bernie emerged where he praised Fidel Castro’s regime. If you think his rape fantasy essay was shocking, or his folk album was hard to stomach, just wait until you hear his opinion on Communist Dictators A lot of people don’t know this, but Bernie actually hung a Soviet Flag in office when he was mayor of Burlington. According to reporter Trevor Louden, Bernie hung the Soviet flag in his office to honor the Soviet sister city of Yaroslavl. You know, singing praises to the opposing side while you’re at war might seem treasonous to some, but if you’re a mayor of a major city, it’s perfectly acceptable and everyone will forget about it. No need to mention that the USSR was responsible for what some believe to be the biggest genocide in history. You’d be crazy to call Bernie a Communist. He only proudly hung their flag in his office.

Bernie Sanders did not only vacation in the Soviet Union, he honeymooned there. He described it as “strange honeymoon”. Once again, Sanders used the excuse that he did so in his town’s sister city of Yaroslavl. You have to wonder how much bad the Soviet Union could have done that Sanders was willing to overlook . Perhaps if Bernie loves Yaroslavl so much, he could do everyone a favor and move there.

Martyrs Without a Cause aka Redneck Lives Matter

MilkmanDan says...

If you think a rule imposed by any authority is unjust, feel free to practice some civil disobedience.

But part of the impact of civil disobedience comes from accepting the (unjust) punishment / consequences of that disobedience with some dignity. That is what really persuades other people to see the injustice in the same light that you do.

Occupying a "federal building" that is only very tenuously connected to the word "federal" and then taking to Facebook to beg for "bare necessity" supplies (like French vanilla coffee creamer) is not dignified.

Yelling and cussing at a University Dean (?) because ... um, I actually can't figure out what she's upset about ... is not dignified.

Rosa Parks refused to leave her "colored seating" place on a bus when the driver demanded that she vacate it for some white people. He said "why don't you stand up?", and she said "I don't think I should have to". He told her he was going to call the police, and she said "you may do that." She had more dignity in her little finger than all of the Oregon clowns have put together.

That's why today, more than 60 years after the fact, people still remember what she did. The Oregon dudes will be lucky to be remembered 60 *hours* after their "occupation" of that building ends.
