Racist 'Pro-Life' Billboard

longde says...

A couple were pointed out in the video:

-It stigmitizes AA women
-It targets AAs during black history month

I can add a couple more, though:

-I can bet from the POV of a black new yorker, who has to contend with trigger happy hoods and trigger happy cops, the billboard makes light of the dangers an AA faces
-The conservative groups that would be behind such a billboard traditionally only seem to care about AAs when they are in the womb.

The War on drugs is far more brutal than drug use itself

JiggaJonson says...

Did you even read the comment of mine you quoted??? I didn't say "THAT OFFICER" I said "the police." As in the police who planned an entire raid to arrest one guy; as in the police who planned unwarranted overexertion of power; as in the police who don't seem to care about civilian casualties. Not the one guy.

So yeah, now I DO think you're an idiot, but for different reasons than the ones you eluded to.

>> ^campionidelmondo:

Sure the policeman who shot the guy was a bit too trigger happy, but that's because he's trained to react in a split-second to any threat he might encounter. I'm not saying he handled the situation perfectly, but you need to look at the bigger picture. Why was a SWAT team sent to arrest one guy? What warranted an action like that? At what point will the government admit that it's fighting a war it cannot win, with civilian casualties piling up left and right?
That's just my opinion, if that makes me an idiot in your eyes so be it.

Thanks for posting this, if i had any power-points I would quality this b/c you've given me some ammunition to fight idiots who stood up for the police involved in that other video.

Crazy tracer bullet battle in Afghanistan, close call

highdileeho says...

the tracers are loaded up every 5th round in the m16, every 10th in the fully automatic S.A.W. What those fellas needed was one well placed round of artey, would have saved them alot of time, I suspect they went a little trigger happy, a shame because I bet the enemy just wandered off to shoot another day. But what do I know, maybe there wasn't any available for whatever reason.

Glenn Greenwald Blasts Israel's Rationale for Seizing Gaza

NordlichReiter says...

>> ^NinjaInHeat:

NordlichReiter: I am missing the point? the ship was bound to Gaza, it gave word that it was heading to Gaza in advance, they were informed in advance that they would not be allowed passage, they were offered in advance to have their ship inspected for contraband... Of course the fact Israel did what it did before the ship actually crossed over is illegal, if you had read my first comment you'd see I acknowledged that, but that -isn't- the point. I'm trying to figure out whether those soldiers acted appropriately, whether this was some senseless slaughter brought on by "trigger happiness", but no, let's not talk about that, that's not what the controversy's about, I am missing the point...

If they acted illegally in boarding the ship before the crime was committed, then it is pretty clear that they acted inappropriately.

17 Year Old Kid is Tazed at Phillies Game.

Ellemenopee says...

I don't understand all the venemous hatred and contempt for the Police Officer. The child was causing a disruption and not stopping when told to by a Police Officer. If a the Police tell you to stop, you damn well stop, partly because they have a touch of megalomania. Sure tasing someone is pretty harsh and I in no way agree with trigger happy officials, but if you're an attention seeking spastic like that child on the field then you damn well deserve a good hard taser to the face. His parent's even -apologised- for his retard behaviour.

Wikileaks - U.S. Apache killing civilians in Baghdad

ReverendTed says...

The most frustrating thing is that it's impossible to watch this video without the context.
I'd love to know what my reaction (or anyone else's reaction) to it would have been if I hadn't known beforehand that "this is US soldiers firing on civilians".

Someone above mentioned ROE, and I wonder what my take would have been just based on the video, and not the prior knowledge of context.

Of course, that leads to the question of what else this gunner has seen - how many positive engagements?
Was this his first time - an anxious, or trigger-happy newbie?
Was it his hundredth time - a routine takedown of just one more band of armed insurgents?

Watching the video might answer some of those last questions for me, but I can't watch it, knowing what happens.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Yes, sure- use the excuse that they thought the first guy's camera was a gun- that doesn't justify gunning down a whole van of people who were trying to help the wounded. There's just no valid excuse for this. If you listen to audio- these guys are trigger-happy idiots who should be court-marshalled.
>> ^Throbbin:

I can't tell if you are being facetious or not, but MAYBE the first incident could be justified. The 2nd incident, with the van and no weapons in sight could never, ever be justified by anyone. Any organization or government that tries to justify it should be brought down.>> ^joedirt:
Dag, you are clueless.
Even the UN would rule this a justified shooting. Somehow the US is allowed to shoot anyone on sight of what they think is a gun. It's crazy, but that is what occupation means. No one gets convicted of these war crimes. Look at Gaza, look at Faluja. Look at any prison camp run by US military..

Wikileaks - U.S. Apache killing civilians in Baghdad

Hybrid says...

They need to ask for permission in case their command center is aware of friendly units in the area, rather than for a tactical assessment of what they are seeing from the helicopter itself.>> ^jwray:

Also, you have them asking for permission to fire from someone who doesn't even see the footage or really know what the fuck is going on. What the fuck kind of idiotic procedure is that? Put the delusional trigger-happy-moron on trigger, and have him take orders about whether to fire from somebody who doesn't know anything about the situation except what trigger-happy-moron tells him?
