Waterseer, Another one bites the dust!!

kir_mokum says...

i checked out when he decided feminism was an evil that needed to be smashed in the midst of gamergate. also his categorical incredulity and near hysterics at any criticism got real tiring too.

You know, without actually looking at the things he speaks about, I've found thunderfoot to be a downer. I've had acquaintances like him, very toxic.

I'm sure he's following the scientific method, having a critical eye, and exposing charlatans that dearly need the light of day shone on their taints, but imagine him in person.

Gay robot makes Craig Ferguson cry

Drachen_Jager says...

Geoff was built by Grant Imahara from Mythbusters while he was still working at MB and doing other robot projects on the side.

Apparently he nearly died in the middle of all that, he had so many projects he worked late into the nights and worked tired a lot. A 500kg walking bot he working on fell on top of him and nearly pinned him while he was working late one night with nobody else around to help.

It was a sort of bet/challenge. Grant agreed to take it on if Craig could get him 100k twitter followers (it took less than 24 hours).

Chris Wallace Destroys James Comey

Sayja says...

Lol. "Destroys." I didn't realize folks were still titling videos in that tired, sophomoric manner.

Appears to me that it's one of Fox's only remotely respectable anchors asking valid questions and getting valid responses.

I'm so tired of talking to people who celebrate ignorance. You were saying the same shit about him being impeached however long ago. I'd look it up but what happens in reality doesn't seem to matter to you people. Stop coming at me and repeating your dumb bullshit you fucking traitor.

Trump is not going anywhere for the next 5 years.

No guilty party is linked to Trump/ White House.. All were past crimes.

Quit Jizzing your shorts. You know the foul play and crimes are on the DNC side.

Adam Schiff's blunder of last 2 weeks was a pure gift to Trump.

Democrats are delusional and so you you. Watch more than the fake news.

Michelin Introduce Puncture Proof Airless Tire

00Scud00 says...

As someone who lives in cold climates for half the year I would love tires that don't require air pressure anymore. Especially since my TPMS system just died recently and now I have to replace it.

Michelin Introduce Puncture Proof Airless Tire

Deadrisenmortal says...

Um? What about driving through water? Snow? Loose gravel? I have to imagine that they are going to pick up and potentially throw loose material in odd ways. I am all for the airless tires but I am pretty sure they haven't engineered a way to avoid the need for sidewalls.

Michelin Introduce Puncture Proof Airless Tire

bremnet says...

Yes, yes and no so much anymore. The delamination / damage from bumps and potholes have been pretty much resolved in the Michelin and Bridgestone designs (according to Michelin and Bridgestone - ahem...) Haven't seen any reports on whether running temps are worse lately, but hard to make the comparison (the #1 root cause of tire failure today is under-inflation so tires running hotter than design). Now with 10 or more of the big boys in the hunt for the best airless design, will be an interesting ride. The concept out of SciTech Industries in Florida is neato, but they are a (relatively) smaller startup, so might get lost in the scramble, though producing a lighter tire with less heat build (quite a different concept compared to Michelin). cheers

SFOGuy said:

Nice. I think, from what I recall, the engineering challenges are heat build up, weight (more than a regular tire), and bump absorption.

Vox: The Green New Deal, explained

BSR says...

If you get killed in a car crash tomorrow because of a tire blowout, your world disappears and your dream is over. If you lose someone you love, you get a new dream.

Actually, the child has been crying much longer than that if you really listen. I can hear your tears. I can see your fears.

Well some day the wolf might show. But the GW boy has been crying since the 70s..

The latest cry wolf story is that we ONLY HAVE 12 YEARS BEFORE DOOMSDAY. Really ?

The 7 Biggest Failures of Trumponomics

newtboy says...

Trump knows his base is too dumb to understand this, and will stick by him as long as he calls them "good people", because they're tired of being called scumbag racist morons.
Sadly, they are scumbag racist morons, but most are too dumb to realize it.

Instead of a poll tax, we need a poll test. If you cannot explain checks and balances, no vote for you.
If you can't understand that a huge deficit increases the debt, no vote for you.
If you can't grasp the fact that corporate welfare is socialism, no vote for you.
Republicans would get less than 5% of the vote under this plan.

Rambo-Last Blood

wraith says...

Us men seem to be way more insecure than I previously imagined.

I get the Action Movies where a young, fit, trained specialist takes out an army of bad guys (against all odds) because he is the hero..

Young men like to watch this, because they have to much Testosterone.

I partly get the Action Movies where a middle aged man of a srtictly civilian persuasion is "pushed too far"(tm), normally by bad guys abducting (or just threatening) his family, and wipes out the bady guys (usually career criminals with lots of training in killing people) by the dozen.

Middle aged men seem to need this to get through the day.

What I really don't get is this slew of movies over the last years, where a retired, old and tired looking man, (usually after his daughter gets kidnapped) decides to come out of retirement one last time (or multiple times) to kill hordes of young, highly trained bad guys.

I get it why some men like to watch this, Testosterone makes you stupid like that, no matter if it comes in syringes, but the rest?

How This Cyclist Hit 184MPH and Set the World Record

newtboy says...

Perhaps you misunderstand me. I don't accuse her of taking anything from professionals, as I don't think they're competing. I only think, when making a claim of record bicycle speeds, if those speeds are not achieved without assistance it should be clearly noted. They didn't hide it, but the title slightly mislead me and left me disappointed it wasn't a human powered speed, because that speed would have more than doubled the previous record and that would be amazing.

This is a feat of skill and bravery. It simply is not a feat of purely human powered speed. Nothing wrong with that, as long as it's clear, imo.

Nice trip. 2500 miles is a good chunk of the distance coast to coast (depending on the route). Where did you ride to/from?
I've never done a long distance ride like that, I just rode to school and back daily...over 35 miles round trip...and around town. Up here in Humboldt, the roads are terrible so I don't ride much anymore, skinny racing tires don't do well in potholes. I'm getting too old and broken for serious mountain bike trail riding, which is sad considering the trails I have available.

I'm intrigued by the sand swap idea, but also concerned about the introduction of invasive species that may be living in that sand. Just a thought if you make the trip.

BSR said:

Again, SHE'S NOT A PRO! She doesn't take anything away from the pros but also gives them a chance to break her record. (If they got the guts)

Unrelated, this is me back in 2011 making a 2,500 mile bike trip which I did in 3 months. It was something I did to see if I actually wanted to bike across country. From Cape Canaveral beach to Vandenberg Air Force Base. I would carry a sample of sand from the east and then dump it on the beach in the west.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I still haven't been able to make that trip. But I loved every minute of the trip I did.
