fun test of technology but I wonder what use this would solve better than a quad copter (or more) regarding stability in high winds and carrying load. maybe going into really tight spaces?

Tesla Cam captures INSANE crash

newtboy says...

Logically no matter what it should be truck owner. He/she is responsible first and foremost because proper maintenance is the owner’s responsibility and your wheel coming off is proof of improper maintenance.

If they could prove a shop mounted the wheel wrong….forgot lug nuts, used broken studs, put the nuts on finger tight…they could likely sue, but proving that would be impossible without close up video at the shop of the faulty parts/installation.

#3 is possible, but only after proof of a known design flaw that makes the wheel come off is established. Good luck. This is what Tesla is up against with their self driving software, but only after multiple deaths and many crashes.

Most aftermarket parts have limited liability clauses limiting their liability to replacement of the defective part, not even labor. I know my lift kits had multiple warnings and liability releases in the instructions/warranties. Not total immunity if they intentionally sell dangerously defective parts, but definitely a difficult thing to prove.

I’m not a lawyer, but I have them in the immediate family (grandpa), so I have a little bit of an idea how this usually works in court.

visionep said:

I hope everyone escaped without long term injuries.

I wonder how liability works in a case like this.

Possible scenarios:
1. Freak accident, no one is liable.
2. Truck owner is liable, but only because they modified their car from manufacturer spec?
3. Truck manufacturer is liable, faulty construction?
4. State or federal government is liable because of something in the road that make the truck's tire fall off.
5. After market kit provider or after market kit installer is liable because their modification lead to the failure that caused the tire to come off.

I wonder how it all worked out.

Can you now comprehend the fact that you live in an echo chamber, so you only hear other MAGA Cons and convince yourself that, because the majority of people you talk to support Trump insanity, the majority of Americans do…but in fact your tight little group are the only ones left believing the lies but few outside the cult will stoop to talk to you anymore (it not a pleasant experience) so you rarely hear contradiction (except from me, I still tell you the truth despite your constant denials of it, you’re welcome).

Can you comprehend now that Americans aren’t buying what the Cons and Chump are selling….(loss of freedoms, loss of bodily autonomy, loss of social security and Medicare, an end to investments in America or Americans, loss of direction, and a likely loss of democracy)…and that was reflected in the vote? A vote that all precedent showed would be heavily red but was not because Trump’s candidates were horrific and insulting….Hershel Walker!?! WTF, man. Even you must see he’s just unacceptable….he’s literally criminally insane (diagnosed with multiple personalities and other impairments, and repeatedly tried to murder people including his own family) and has lost contact with reality.

Hero

newtboy says...

No. He was easily twice my size and 3 times as mean. I endured, and just repeated “some day you will feel bad for how you treated me, and I’ll remember everything and won’t let you forget it.” I’ve kept my word, and was correct in my prediction. He feels bad about it now.

Now that he’s a father, he feels pretty bad about abusing me, and he doesn’t remember 1/4 of what he did to me.

He does remember finding out I was claustrophobic and wrapping me in a blanket tightly then sitting on me until I passed out… repeatedly, along with other times he used it to torture me….but that was tame compared to throwing me down hard stairs by the neck, putting me in the dryer on high and holding the door closed, putting lit bottle rockets down my tucked in shirt, etc.

I would have been justified murdering him in his sleep. Lucky for him we lived with different parents by the time I was 10 and started growing. The last time he tried to beat me I picked him up and smashed his head on the rafters by running down the hallway, gave him a concussion…his 11th. He never tried to fight me again. He’s realized I grew up much tougher than he did thanks to the treatment he gave me and the coddling he got.

Tales From the Far Side Parts 1 & 2

NYC's Anti-Vax Rally in 49 Seconds

newtboy says...

Lemme guess, you don't care about that when it comes to remdesvir, which is not FDA approved, costs in the neighborhood of 4000 times as much (with profit margins to match) and known side effects are worse including....
Back pain
chest tightness
chills
cough
dark-colored urine
difficulty swallowing
fast heartbeat
fever
flushing
headache
hives, itching
light-colored stools
nausea and vomiting
puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
stomach pain, continuing
trouble breathing
unusual tiredness or weakness
yellow eyes or skin
Seizures
skin rash

People have severe side effects often enough that you have to wait under observation for an hour after getting it to be sure you don't need medical help.
You can't sue them either, but I'm sure that also doesn't matter to you because Republicans told you to take it instead of an FDA approved vaccine (and just coincidentally they and their major donors all own shares in the manufacturer).

Big pharma makes billions from the vaccine. Best part is they can't be sued if you die from the vaccine.

Day of Rage: How Trump Supporters Took the U.S. Capitol

luxintenebris jokingly says...

stolen? 6M is a hell of a heist. AZ & GA? pretty sweet haul. what is obvious is that if this was true, it took tight organization, supreme attention to detail, and wildly deft implementation. talking superior leadership and a task force of the finest to pull it off. if they are that good - let them keep the W.H and give them the rest of Congress!

the nation wants nat'l healthcare, better educational systems, intelligent ideas - folks that can solve problems. Or just, all the things the GOP can't/wouldn't provide or structure. rather have folks that can figure out how to do the impossible, fashion plans that work on the first take, and accomplish miracles.

that's your inadvertent testimony; they're so bad they're good!

fake news? honestly, don't believe you could source where you bought your morning cereal.

Mom arrested after posing as 7th grade daughter in school

WmGn says...

On distinguishing between security checks and kidnappers/pedophiles/etc., I think that being a parent of a child at the school, and documenting the day seems a pretty clear distinction.

Agreed: if she'd been hired by the school to pen test, there would be no question. In this case, my argument is just that I don't see anything to suggest that she's anything other than a concerned parent. I think it's perfectly legitimate to worry about your children's security in a US school.

I don't know what steps parents have taken to try to improve security at the school - and don't know how much it matters: sure, she's in a stronger position if the school repeatedly rebuffed requests for spending their tight budget on security consultants.

Massive Protests Erupt in Mainland China

cloudballoon says...

Says who though? That's a narrative, fed from the media, tightly controlled by the CCP. Yes, people's lives are in general getting better materially. But people knows they have little freedom to criticize the government in public, but that doesn't mean it's "part of the bargain." There's just no means to disagree with the CCP without risking life & limbs. But those that got treated so badly that they felt there's nothing left to lose? Oh they do "rise up", whether you can hear about it, that's another matter entirely.

Chinese (as a whole people) don't "rise up (at least enough)" beause they see the financial benefit of China's explosive growth, and in general, you won't get into the CCP radar/ire if you're a regular citizen just going on your day. But the vast majority of Chinese knows they're far from catching up to anywhere near the G7/10 standard. So their focus is on that (the financial end), not toppling the CCP. They're more pragmatists than idealists.

Make no mistake, the G7 is ALSO part of the problem by enabling the CCP due of the immense financial gains and just pay lip service to "human right abuses" in China to score domestic points.

The Chinese (and the CCP) saw what happened to the U.S.S.R. and they don't want the "Western world" to "rescue" them. As they know the one thing the Western World does best is Abandonment.

GOP Try to Rewrite the History of the Jan 6th Insurrection

luxintenebris jokingly says...

tuff stuff rewriting the insurgency. tight storyline...

- don dupa urges his malleable mutts to attack the capitol
- capitol undermanned
- r's and d's alike become targets
- cameras (media, cc, & invader's own cell phones) capture the action

...that is a drama/thriller right there.

but as a mystery it is even better...

- why was the capitol undermanned?
- why didn't the nat'l guard arrive sooner?
- did agents of 'r' school some of the insurgents?
- where was the president? did he plan this? was he petting a white cat while he watched it on tv?

...so there is A LOT to be revealed in the story.

jeezus, bob...if this was my novel...i'd go to another publisher and fire y'all.

Pike County Sheriffs Beat And Mace Man In Restraint Chair

newtboy says...

Lol. See that peacock logo on the video?
Or are you saying unless every network shows it on their prime time national broadcast news show, it wasn't covered. I found reporting from ABC, NBC, CBS, VICE, even Fox (but not Faux news). I bet CNN had coverage too, but they aren't easy to search. Even if it didn't make the prime time broadcast, these networks all have late night national broadcasts that use local affiliate clips like this to fill the time.

If that's your position I guess that means there is no right wing/"conservative" news at all then, there is no nationally broadcast right wing channel, nor is there any right wing NEWS at all, only what they admit in court is ignorant biased baseless unbelievable hyperbolic uninformed opinion they call news but only morons could possibly believe it, and there are only basic cable networks.

Yes, punching someone in the head a dozen times with full force of a 250-300 lb man so hard it breaks his hand, with the victim restrained so they can't defend themselves is attempted murder. Pepper spraying a restrained man, letting him topple over to the concrete, and letting him gasp for breath for well over 10 minutes, tightly restrained on his back with no assistance, never checking on him while he's possibly aspirating or concussed from the fall, definitely struggling for air is attempted murder.

If the tables were turned and the cop was the victim, you would see at least 13 attempted murders, one for each punch and at least one for the mace to the face, and say every single one justifies killing the perpetrator. You are so transparent and hypocritical.

How do I know what?

Oh....you think? But let me guess, the guy had it coming for not submissively complying, and that justifies the cop going too far on four separate occasions....he should have immunity, civil and criminal, and so should the sheriff office.
Too bad so sad for the victim....right?

🤦‍♂️

How a Kar98k Works

bremnet says...

It's considered to be a very reliable and long lasting action. The fit and design keep the action "tight" through repeated use and reduces wear on mating surfaces. A larger-than-most extractor claw reduces the possibility of stuck rounds from breaking the claw or slipping out during extraction. A noticeably smoother action when chambering or extracting a round. I don't know that it contributes to the accuracy of the rifle, would say not in my experience, but opinions vary.

"The cult stayed tight and slept through the trial." No not really no one watched since is is a JOKE

A comedian you are..
"He will go down as the best at impeachment, by volume, level of criminality, and bipartisan guilty votes. "

But reality isn’t exactly your strong suite.

newtboy said:

The cult stayed tight and slept through the trial. They didn’t even pretend to be impartial. Precedent set, expect the same if a democrat is impeached. (To be honest, that is the norm, but it’s not right)

Only 7 times more votes by his own party than any other impeachment trial in history, but yes, the main cult prejudged this based on nothing but party by Jan 7. He will go down as the best at impeachment, by volume, level of criminality, and bipartisan guilty votes. Another win?

If democrats had the abilities you must give them to believe that stupidity, they would rule the world without opposition by now. They would be so genius about it you would think it was your idea. It’s insane, you like to say how worthless stupid and weak they are, except for the most complicated, biggest heist in history with millions of people involved that they pulled off so perfectly with such skill and competence that there’s not a shred of evidence despite there being an actual paper record of every vote and the most highly scrutinized certification by every State, Republican and Democratic led. I know you can see how those ideas are mutually exclusive. Democrats are no where near that organized or competent.

But rationality isn’t exactly your strong suite.
