Ducted Fan Thrust Vectoring Drone
How about a quad thrust vectoring drone that can split to become 2, 3, or 4 on the fly?
fun test of technology but I wonder what use this would solve better than a quad copter (or more) regarding stability in high winds and carrying load. maybe going into really tight spaces?

Watch Elon Musk's Rocket Explode After Launch
Sweet zombie Jebus…I just read WHY there was such catastrophic damage at the launch pad…NO FLAME TRENCH, NO WATER CURTAIN!!!
It seems Elon, on a guesstimate, decided the most powerful rocket ever built didn’t need any method of deflecting the thrust away from the plain concrete launch pad. He did plan to eventually try a huge steel plate under the rocket, but couldn’t get it done so just launched anyway with NOTHING.
NASA has been using both for over 50 years with success. A flame trench is a reinforced trench designed to redirect thrust horizontally away from ground infrastructure. A water curtain is exactly what it sounds like, a huge curtain of water dropped at ignition that absorbs the initial pressure/heat wave, also minimizing damage to ground infrastructure and lowering initial sound levels.
Why Elon decided he needed neither for the most powerful launch system ever is unfathomable. His launch pad is destroyed and this launch never even came close to 100% thrust. How many times does Elon have to totally screw the pooch as an engineer before they take his drafting table away? He’s playing with public money, somebody stop this insanely poorly implemented boondoggle please.
Williams X Jet
Nice dramatic music.
The thing was way too loud for recreational use. It also wasn't stable in wind and never had a safety system implemented so when there was a failure you just fell out of the sky from 100 feet up.
The 45 minute running time is very optimistic. The amount of thrust for fuel burned ( 0.683 lb/lbf/h) is not efficient. The engine also only provided 600lbs of thrust where the entire system weighed just over 400 lbs without fuel or a pilot.
No conspiracy, just not financially and technically useful enough to garner further development.
The Wikipedia article give a lot of good technical details, you can also look up the patent. A little data and common sense can easily overcome the drama created by overly dramatic music.
Blacks Beach San Diego Bluffs Collapse (1:29pm Jan 20 2023)
I'm curious about the dark pile that started inflating quickly around 3:15. It didn't seem to be caused directly by the falling rocks, it was thrust up or forward from some other source.
Wild footage in general though! Would've loved to have been able to hear it properly, but the wind hitting the mic seemed to kill most of the sound.
Science teacher demonstrates Bernoulli’s Principle
Same principle gold dredging works on. A small high pressure pump pulls surrounding water through a manifold, creating a powerful vacuum at the manifold inlet.
Also seen on ducted propellers (to an extent) and (can’t find the real name) thrust boosting rings on some jets and rockets.
From 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 1 second
It could be, but the size of the props makes me think it's pretty heavy with the motors required to drive all 4, and the angle of tilt it maintains (you can step through a bit) without losing altitude requires a lot of thrust. It looks pretty legit to me, and with the proper power to weight ratio, this is pretty much how I'd expect something like this to be built and look and sound. I mean, none of it looks impossible -- the control is the hard part.
What makes you all think this isn’t just sped up?
Nasa Astra Test Flight Goes sideways
Love Scott Manley, but not sure why he's started trying to add comedy bits to his videos... stick to the rocket science.
Good explanation though- 1 of 5 engines failed, so instead of thrust:weight ratio being 1.25, it was 1.0. Only when it burned enough fuel did it get light enough to start lifting.
Could've ended much worse.

EPIC Canyon Mini Jet Boating - New Zealand
Ah... much like reverse thrust on aircraft?
I will sleep well tonight due to your research.
Probably with some version of a “reverse bucket”....
Trump Impeached
It only took 3 years for Dems to find a reason for impeachment articles . The thinnest of reasons with no proof. Only a difference of ideology feeds their blood thrust to remove this man.
No running, no Putin link no nothing just a big waste of Americans time.
I, personally love it. Trump has won the battle. Democrats across the land are fed up and will switch party or just sit out the 2020 election.
All for what? This now goes to the Senate. For what? Republican control and this will no pass/ convict. Just a wast of Americans time.

Can You Trust Kurzgesagt Videos?
I think he's saying "thrust" not trust.
You can trust this
DIY Rocketeer Building Self-Landing SpaceX Model Rockets
what he's doing is cool as a hobby, but he should really go get a physics or engineering degree to take it to the next level. (but then again, if his YouTube channel becomes popular, he'll make more money and have more fun than doing it professionally)
Also, those rocket engines aren't precise enough to use for landing. ±0.1 seconds of thrust makes no difference going up (for a model rocket) but for landing it's the difference between "reusable" and "busted".
