Senator Jeff Flake's Retirement Speech-Short Version

Driving A 5 Ton Truck Through Flooded Streets

Swamp Wars - Cindy Jacobs

RFlagg says...

Drain the swamp... I don't see any swam draining. He drained the very same Wall Street people he complained Hillary would bring in, into the White House, and other low lifes... like Bannon.

And if we get just another 10 months of turmoil depends on how we pray... of course a minor chunk of Christianity don't vote Republican, and actually vote the way Jesus would, which clearly wouldn't be for Trump or his kind... but I digress. So they are praying against Trump, but of course we know she means we need to pray for the nation, and for Trump's divine leadership from God... odd how the right is willing to say that God appoints leaders like Trump, but wouldn't say the same about Obama, who clearly was far more Christ like than Trump... Anyhow, the point I was going to get to, is odd how one has to pray to get God to act, though His will is perfect, so you can't change His mind, or His will... and why would He just sit and go... "4,998,888 more prayers to go, then I'll answer.. ohh... 4,999,884 to go! Way to go My people." That isn't compassion or anything... Either His will is perfect and His will will be done, or He's malleable, which isn't divine... or He's a fake, or at least no more real than any of the other 5,000 gods out there, and can't actually answer prayer any more than those other gods... "It takes an action of faith on our part, by praying"... bull shit, either He's going to do it or not.... because most of those kids with brain and bone cancer, Christian, with Christian families who pray all the time, as are most of the people who are dying of horrible things in this nation, but somehow His answering prayer ratio seems to be about the same as random, and the same as to any other god...

All these kind of people, and Fox News types who also brag about their faith, and how Christianity is under attack bull shit line... is why I hate Christianity and what it's become... to which Christians take great offence, "why hate me?" but I hate Christianity, not you as a person... of course they don't get that, because they identify so strongly with their faith that they take that personally as an attack against them... of course then they don't see how their anti-LGBT rantings, and the "don't hate the sinner, hate the sin" is basically the same... they can't empathize, and see how their hatred of the sin of homosexuality as they see it, is the same as my hatred of modern Christianity.

I love how the far right is far more upset at the leaks than the crime... when the DNC was having leaks, they had near zero concern about the leaks, it was the potential crimes being exposed that they were concerned with. Now that it is against Trump, suddenly the potential crime matters nothing, all that matters is leaks. Were this Clinton or Sanders, they'd be screaming from the mountain top, "the crime matters far more than the leaks! Lock her/him up!" Now they are going after leakers, who haven't exposed anything that endangers national security, just is embarrassing for our asshole in chief.

Of course the people who watch this, 700 Club, TBN, Fox, listen to right wing radio, and the like... they are still fired up, they still believe. Some of the people who voted for him who may not be in that crowd, might start having doubts, but the vast majority of his base still is in love with him, and still thinks he's God's greatest gift to this nation. They've been lied to and deceived by their churches for so long... that even if they actually do take a moment to read the Bible for themselves, they can't interpret it any other way than the way these ilk violate it's teachings, and the teachings of the Jesus they claim to follow.

As I've said before, if I were still a Christian, I'd seriously consider the modern right wing evangelical movement to be part of the anti-Christ system, as they turn more people against God than for Him, and are teaching a system opposite of what Jesus taught... Satan/the anti-Christ doesn't need to deceive the world, we are already damned to Hell, what he'd need to deceive, would be those who think they are faithful to the teachings of Jesus. Use them, not as a beacon of life and hope, but the pure bigotry and hate that modern Christianity is. To make it it unappealing... they might still get into Heaven with those who actually believe the way Jesus taught (because believing Jesus is the Christ, the son of God and all that is the only requirement in), but the Judgement Seat of Christ would find them learning how they cost millions of souls, then He'd point to the Christians on the left, and would say, they did far better, they followed my lessons... He'll look at Jim there and say, "look at the thousands of souls that you personally turned against My message, because you didn't teach the Love I commanded, you didn't teach the golden rule as I taught it, you taught a corrupted message, and now they'll burn for all eternity in Hell, because of you. I tried to reach them, but they heard your message of bigotry and hate, of love of money over helping the needy and the poor, of greed over the command to heal the sick, and turned from me.... now because you believed in Me, I have to let you in, but you'll live seeing those who turned from me as they are tormented in the back of your mind... you'll have a small home here, not the grand home that those who have taught my message properly have... to those who much was given, much was expected, and you failed. That man there, murdered 33 people, and converted before his execution, and his home will be grander than yours. Those who had much, will have little... so enter to your reward... of praising me for all I've done, 24/7 for all eternity, but as you praise, remember those who aren't here, because you poisoned the world against me." "Surely Lord there must be some who were saved, I saw them come forward." "They were already saved, or would soon be, for each one of them that actually turned to me because of you, hundreds turned away... that's not a good exchange Jim..."

Trey Gowdy Had One Message For Donald Trump

Trump In The Wild: A Nature Documentary

RFlagg says...

He, and all the conservatives, will NEVER care. Fox News, and the conservative media machine are still sucking the chrome off Donald's cock. They'll point out how Markovic smiled when pushed out of the way, and so it was just being playful. Even if it came out that Donald himself worked with the Soviets Russians, to hamper the elections, they still wouldn't care, because he did what was necessary and smart, to prevent Hillary and the Deamoncrats from winning. Like he said, he could shoot somebody in the street, and his supporters wouldn't care.

The only people who regret their vote for him is likely to be the liberal, Never Hillary people who voted for him, those who somehow thought he'd actually disrupt Washington and drain the swamp, and a few others who may have been on the edge of voting for Hillary and at the last moment voted for him.

Until conservative media actually turns against Trump in a real and meaningful way, and not the occasional thing to pretend they are "fair and balanced", but really turn on him the way they were against Obama for 8 years (where one couldn't watch Fox for more than 30 minutes without them bashing him), then most of the conservatives out there will never turn against him, never admit there are huge issues.... of course they'll say, "yeah, we had those fears too" once conservative media turns against him.

Are you going to let us know when you're tired of winning, or do we need to keep asking the question?

Al Franken SLAMS Trump For Firing Comey

bobknight33 says...

I gather you are talking about Paul Manafort, A lobbyist and insider for decades who worked for anyone any government for a fee. Two faced Trump saying drain the swamp and have Manafort ( and Roger Stone) on his team- sure. But that still does not mean there were collusion with Russia.

If I were an non politician it would be prudent to employ some heavy hitters who know who is who and what is what and how to win would be a good thing. Doesn't go with the whole draining the swamp message.

Time and investigations will tell.

newtboy said:

You forget, the claim that Russia worked with Trump's campaign came long before Nov. 7.
Glad to hear you've realized Russia did interfere, to help Trump. Now you just need to realize they talked about it...which is clear if you just note how many of his top advisors, including his son in law, had repeated contact during the campaign...contact there was no legitimate reason to have.

Yes, the left wanted Comey gone for being political...in January (or before) not now when he's ramping up the investigation into the person who removed him. Once an investigation into Trump started, it became 100% inappropriate to fire him until it concludes.

Um....hating one candidate more means you favor the other. What?

I do agree, it's pretty hypocritical of us to complain when we meddle around the world in elections, but that doesn't make it acceptable, it just means we should maybe consider stopping now that we see the disastrous issues that come from being led by a foreign agent first hand.

The Bizarre Far-Right Billionaire Behind Trump's Presidency

newtboy says...

Um....so you think the right didn't make sinister sounding documentaries about Clinton? Where have you been living the last 25 years, a cave in the Peruvian alps?

I think perhaps the "glass houses" complaints are being made by people living in a paper thin crystal snow globe who wish to distract from that fact.

Recall, Trump ran on the lie that he paid for his entire campaign and was beholding to no one, it was absolutely central to his candidacy, and was just another pack of obvious bold faced lies he sold the right, like draining the swamp, releasing his taxes, hiring the "best and brightest people", and putting his assets in a blind trust....all of which were total lies.

Glass houses...

Its a good thing there were no secret, seedy campaign backers for HRC that we could make sinister sounding documentaries about. Love the conspiracy theory soundtrack though, at least it knows the sandbox it is playing in.

the rubin report-don't freak out about trump

enoch says...

jesus, could we all stop with the histrionics already?

there are reasons why trump won,and it certainly was not because he is a decent human being,he is not,he is a terrible human being.

so if you are going to assume what kind of president he is going to be based solely on his emotionally,super-charged rhetoric, then you are..by definition..pre-judging.

i do not know what kind of president he is going to be,and neither do you.

i suspect it going to be in the area of horrifying and bumbling buffoon, but we won't know until he gets in office.

all rubin is pointing out is that there are some positives, and freaking out does nothing, and is based on assumption.

but chew on this for a minute.
both the democrats and republicans HATE trump and the fact he won has scared the living shit out of both parties.the political elite just got kicked in the balls.

i have been watching in horror as trump began to surround himself with some of the most vile, and opportunistic people:gingrich, gulliani, christie, and let us not forget the christian supremacist mike pence.

yet two days ago pence cleared all the lobbyist choices trump had made for positions in his cabinet.they are calling it the "pence purge".was this a political ploy to stick with the "drain the swamp" meme?

sure..that is possible.
but it is still a good sign.

and rubin brings up a good point in regards to trump.he likes being popular and loved.while i find this narcissistic and childish, and not a quality i want in a president,it does offer a window where normal people can apply pressure to his presidency, and that is no small influence.

hey,i get it,trump is a bumbling buffoon who is a terrible human being, but he won't be this countries first awful human being to hold the presidency.

and we really do not know what kind of president he is going to be.so all rubin is saying is:remain cautiously optimistic.

i say:be cautiously optimistic, but prepare for the worst.

because many people have concerns, and i think those concerns are valid.i suspect that a trump presidency will rival the bush era, possibly worse, but i could be wrong.not the first time i was wrong.

so this could all manifest in a pleasant surprise..or a horrible nightmare, but we won't know until trump actually takes over the job.

robdot said:

holy fuck this guy's an idiot. No one is prejudging trump,We are judging him on the things he has already said and done. Trump stood on a stage and mocked someone's disability. While thousands laughed and cheered. This tells you everything you need to know about him and his supporters. Stop normalizing this vile repulsive "thing".

Noam Chomsky on Trump and neo fascist similarities

cosmovitelli says...

Dont worry those jobs are a fiction. The world's going to renewables and robots fast -Trump or no Trump.

And if coal did come back big the Chinese would just swamp the market. How long do you think Trump - or any republican - is going to pay triple market price as a favour to Jonny Lunchpail?

The traditional next move for a big promising, low delivering demagogue is to immediately start a war.

"The Political News Media Lost Its Mind"

heropsycho says...

I'm only critical of this guy because he was part of the media establishment that cried wolf repeatedly and created the hyperbolic partisan swamp we live in today. You keep calling George W. Bush the second coming of Hitler, and guess what? When there's finally a candidate worthy of a Hitler comparison, nobody's going to believe it. The only people who believe that Trump has said strong man dictatorial and racist type statements are Democrats for the most part, even though Trump totally said those things.

No matter how dishonest Hillary Clinton may have been about her email and what not, she's not a racist bigot.

But it doesn't matter. Most of the country is so partisan they can't consider voting for the other candidate that doesn't match their political leanings/party. Whatever moderates are left think both candidates equally suck. They hear about how bad Trump is, and they just think Clinton is right there with him, or they dismiss things too outlandish they don't want to believe a major party's nominee would actually say that.

And that's this election. Despite my misgivings about Clinton, she is by far the obvious choice and desperately needs to be elected because Trump is so jaw droppingly awful.

But good luck convincing people of thinking that if they don't already. And a lot of that is because we the people demand partisan hackery and media hyperbole instead of the truth about the complex world we live in, and the media was oh so eager to give us what we wanted to make a buck.

Did Donald Trump Bribe the Florida Attorney General?

poolcleaner says...

The state seal thing is true. My family comes from the bayou of Florida. What it doesn't show is the alligators who help dispose of the bodies out behind the trailer.

And the mosquitos which torment the body disposers -- which ironically happen to be the state bird! State tree has a rope hangin' from it, just sayin'.

On a less funny note, I think UF's mascot is a hurricane? No, that's UM. UF is the alligators. FSC's mascot is a deadly moccasin...

So pretty much all the scary shit that will fucking kill you if you get near it. State seal might as well have a body being disposed of in a swamp and the state bird might as fucking well be a big blood fat mosquito.

(State bird is actually a mockingbird and a Seminole is on the state seal.)

Three Teen Girls Drowned as Cops Stand By and Do Nothing

Mordhaus says...

I don't think it qualifies as snuff, you don't see anything.

I think the thing that is upsetting most people is that the cops claimed they tried to go in and save them. If they would have just been honest and said that it was a swampy area full of alligators, so they called for rescue and waited, people would have been more understanding.

Not saying they shouldn't have jumped in, but if they weren't trained to deal with rescue in a swamp environment it could have just led to more deaths. From everything I have read, the pond was more like a mire, full of muck and sludge.

Why Seasons Make No Sense

oritteropo says...

Uhm, hold on a minute there... just remember where @JustSaying is from. Remember the Varian disaster of 89AD? The treachery of Arminius in the swamps of the Teutoberg Forest?

I was quite sure there was a video here on the subject, but haven't been able to find it. Here is a very brief overview of the way the battle went (although it doesn't describe the treachery involved in Arminius leading the trusting Romans into the trap):

Aside from annexing your lands and turning them into leisure worlds for retired Legionnaires, they also brought central heating, exotic goods, plumbing, roads, law, order, popular clothing styles -- but only for the wealthy -- and at the cost of maybe raping your children to teach your village a lesson to obey Roman rule.

Generations later hardly anyone even remembers and you're now part of the empire. And when you're invaded by other "barbarians" your ancestors will protect their Roman culture as if it were always theirs to enjoy. Fight the other barbarians for us, you barbarian!!

You almost get the feeling they defined the entire future of western civilization. Every nasty bit; confusingly superior customs that are required otherwise you become a slave -- and maybe you'll become a slave anyway, even if you follow the rules. After all, once a bitch, always a bitch and so an entire legion slowly blots out your cultural and genetic existence.

Yay, Roman Empire!
