100 yr woman comes to kick some ass (wait for it)

luxintenebris says...

No way of editing this [or unknown to me] but y'all can stop viewing after the standing ovation [had to be] and skip the rest.

BTW: how can anyone follow THAT!

Kids Try Exotic Fruits

cloudballoon says...

Not directed at you, more like pointing out the mentality of the video producer(s). If you're offended, I apologize.

Although I'm less sure of this now -- you can call it borne out of stereotyping/cliche -- but Asians (where most of these so-called "Exotic" fruits featured here are regularly seen & consumed) typically don't go gaga over EVERTHING. Similar to the way British don't typically do standing ovation for every live performance. Easy rewards cheapen everything, as that's especially insulting/disrespectful to the real achievers that put in hard work.

I'm taught to don't just only say nice things... Positive reenforcement is not a bad thing, but gotta earn it, and never go over-the-top. You know, call a spade a spade, constructive criticism and all that probably worth more in the long run, and more illuminating. We don't raise snowflakes in my clan.

Jim Carrey reacts to Will Smith Chris Rock Slap @ The Oscars

spawnflagger says...

I agree with Jim Carrey that the standing ovation given to Will Smith was more offensive than the slap itself. Kudos to Chris Rock for taking the high road, and getting "on with the show" - shows a true professional. Glad his comedy tour tickets are selling out.

A lot of initial reports were calling this a punch, but it wasn't. It was a weak slap, I'm sure that Smith could have slapped much harder but that wasn't the point. It was still dumb. He should have just got on stage and asked Chris to apologize and hold up the show until he did. The dumbest part was Will actually laughed at the joke!

As far as DA prosecuting, you know he'd never see jail time, and for any monetary fine- he's already done to himself by negative reputation. Think of all the potential future roles he's lost in that 1 moment. Time to go buy an island and move there, cause he's now retired.

When you are finally comfortable in a relationship

StukaFox says...

Mate, if those two got any closer together, that LIGO would be detecting the birth of a new black hole somewhere in the Sol system.

I used to love Church: a dinner of Taco Bell burritos, a wooden pew, and the word of Christ. Clench, lean 15 degrees to the left, relax your sphincter and PUSH! The silence that is golden will last about 10 seconds before the retching and piling out the doors brings an end to today's sermon. That's when you snatch the collection plate and bolt out the back door.

I lost a major source of income when I became an atheist.

Did you know Taco Bell delivers? At least in Seattle they do. I have to wonder what life choices lead to the terminus of hauling two dollar food between source and the customer 25 miles away. Yeah, that $5 tip will more than pay for gas, upkeep, insurance and oil changes on that riced-out K car you've been driving since The Pet Shop Boys were still popular.

Also, "...blahblah whining and such..." -- look, if I want unfair criticism of a job well-done, I'll ask my clients to pay up. That's primo Gonzo humor you're tut-tutting and you paid exactly nothing to enjoy it. Y'know who else was a cheap ingrate? HITLER! Why ya gotta by like Hitler, Moonsammy -- IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME. I have my doubts on this topic, by the way.

Hey, what's Bob up to? I always enjoy a cheap laugh at the expense of the less fortunate.

(seriously dude -- I can hold 1:1 with a Clydesdale for an hour and have enough left in the tank to draw a standing ovation at Centurylink Field.)

I don't know why you felt the fart would be the prominent feature of the video. To me, the title only promised the sort of interaction which might feel mortifying in the early passions of young love, but seen within the context of a mature, stable relationship. It may not play well in Hollywood, or apparently Videosift (AHEM SIR), but it's the kind of deep, strong relationship to which we should all aspire.

(having said that, I too have tooted)

The micro text to McCain's down vote of the ACA repeal

Fairbs says...

One of them, I think the one from Maine got a standing ovation at the airport when she got back; she said it was the first time that anything like that has ever happened to her; guess people appreciate not dying

McCains vote looked like a big FU; not sure what got into his bonnet, but I'm glad something did

" Murkowski and Collins are getting fewer headline inches out of it."

Can we move beyond this please?

Their votes were just not news on this day. Both of these senators were known no votes for weeks before this vote and got plenty of coverage for it.

Maybe they need to take away the guns from the police

Yogi says...

I'm sorry, but surely this is a tragic situation, and any cop with any sense of respect for those he serves and protects wouldn't accept a standing ovation for being forced into killing a person. This disgusts me, it's spitting on someones grave. Be a fucking human being.

The sad part is, if this guy was on Dr. Phil and they did one of those montages, the excuse of "well yeah I had several affairs and I'm totally a piece of shit, but my golf swing is REALLY fucking good," wouldn't hold up to this exact same standing-ovation audience.

Newt: I'm Not Racially Insensitive

NetRunner says...

@Diogenes, by "whitewash" I mean he's trying to make ugly antipathy towards blacks look like altruistic behavior towards blacks through dishonesty.

And while I largely agree with longde, I do have to point out that a big part of the proper context is that Newt was asked about the criticism he's receiving for saying:

"I’m prepared if the NAACP invites me, I’ll go to their convention and talk about why the African American community should demand paychecks and not be satisfied with food stamps."

Newt then translates this into being attacked for "citing statistics," which is total hogwash. Specifically, hogwash that he's using to whitewash what he'd really said.

And I'll gladly cop to saying hyperbolic-sounding things, but that's because we're in a situation where outright insanity and hatred from a Presidential candidate gets them a standing ovation from the crowd, and most people think there's nothing to be concerned about.

Oh, and @bobknight33, it's racist to pretend that the NAACP (and black voters generally) are only demanding food stamps, and hadn't even considered the idea of demanding jobs.

Visit the NAACP website, you tell me, does it look like they're just looking for government handouts?

In case you're curious, here's what the NAACP said in response to Newt.
