Dachshund freaks out over piece of lemon

Angry pedestrian gets instant karma

harlequinn says...

No, he stopped over the line. He's in the intersection. Illegal and dangerous.

The driver is on Wyatt St in Adelaide, South Australia. The pedestrian is walking along Flinders St.

oritteropo said:

No, he stopped at the right place. From the gesturing I think the pedestrian thought he was coming in a bit hot and should slow down. Obviously that's not how the approach looked on the dashcam...

Hah! The corner of Wyatt St and Flinders St here in Adelaide. I thought he was wearing a MAGA hat at first so I was confused why it seemed so familiar.

New Rule: The Lesser of Two Evils

ChaosEngine says...

Democracy is ALWAYS the lesser of two evils. No candidate (even St Bernie) is perfect .

Look at France. They've just elected Emmanuel Macron. Nobody has much a clue who this guy was yet he won nearly 2/3 of the vote. Why? Because the other option was Marine Le fucking Pen, someone who makes Trump look inclusive. Although at least she could string a sentence together, even if it was generally openly evil.

The point is that given the choice between mediocrity and evil, you be a grown up about it and choose mediocrity. Yeah, it sucks, but life sucks sometimes... deal with it. If you decide to "let the system burn", then you and your matrix trenchcoat that you thought was cool in 99 deserve everything you get.

Skating the unskateable

SFOGuy says...

I assume (but don't know)---in the San Francisco sequence as he psychotically departs from the intersection of Hyde and Chestnut Street down the Hyde St cable car tracks towards the Ghiradelli Square/Aquatic Park area---that the black thing he is holding in his hand is some sort of control of for a disc brake on the rear wheels? The rotors and pads of which...would be glowing red hot and dripping bits of flaming debris as he comes to a stop before being mashed to by crossing traffic on Bay street at the bottom of the hill? Sort of like in those emergency runway brake tests they do for airliners?

ChaosEngine said:

ehmmm, how do you stop? The board won't ride outside the rail and you can't turn to scrub off speed.

Do you just hope for a kind run out and then bail?

I thought it was a mistake having the bronzer-overdosed-human Klingon be canon rather than what they were, the best that Roddenberry's 1960s budget and f/x technology could manage.

I would have been more impressed if they somehow updated the f/x to use updated Klingons but still using the ST:OS original film.

Epic St. Augustine fact drop. That's such a good one. America has a long history of being anti Catholic though so that is also some unconscious American nationalism. Look up the post-Whigs American political party called "Know Nothing" or Native American party of the mid 1850s. This kid is my hero of the day.

False facts about Star Trek many think are true

poolcleaner says...

Ok, these are cool and all, but any legit Trekker/ie (BOTH terms have been used by varied alumni cast members and fans to mean whatever they want it to mean) knows these things. Anyone who has watched every episode is like "Are these not obvious facts?"

Spock's emotions were even referenced in the JJ reboot. The beam me up thing is already memed. And ST:TNG practically showcases the burreaceacy of Starfleet as something Picard can elloquently rebutt.

But cool video, this is favorited so i can just send it to people who aren't ultra nerds. (My wife is actually the legit Trekker in the family tho -- i set her ringtone to "It's been a long time" because she hates that folky intro song and i know it annoys her that it's Star Trek music hahahahaaaaa...

SSL Now Enforced Site-Wide (Sift Talk Post)

mxxcon says...

videosift.com is advertising 2600:3c00::f03c:91ff:fe70:f3af as its IPv6 address. However, that address is not listening on 443. So either don't advertise IPv6 or enable ssl on it.

Additionally, your current configuration supports SSLv3 protocol, which is old and insecure and should be disabled. And some other sub-optimal settings.
Check out https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=videosift.com
Consider updating your OpenSSL library and configuring nginx as shown at https://cipherli.st/

And please make sure you have some sort of automated way to renew letsencrypt cert since it's only for 3 months.

Nope, none at all if I"m being honest.

It's incredible that it's so easy to create an SSL certificate supported in most browsers now (and for free!) - good times.
