Chef Ramsay Trolls HK Contestants

dhdigital says...

lol, I like it.

I'm starting a new in a bar this week. I'm not worried about the bartending part, but i'm more concerned about the menu. Its four times larger than anything I worked with, I don't know asian cuisine. I agree with ramsay, my resume doesn't mean squat if I can't produce. (luckily i'm nothing thinking a fox television show will be my winning lottery ticker).

And I agree that jigsaw would have provided a better challenge for the competition.

Who Knew These Guys Were In So Many Movies

My friend is my Swiss although not sorrel

My friend is my big but it is not Pierre Menes
It does not break my back on sugar
It can support the OM and if it helps I lie to his wife without problem
If my friend has far him or her darons

But if we take me home
If I go into a spin please take me to the reason
We can disagree, we can take the lead

I want to keep it that long so I avoid interfering
Between him and me money, women and all c'qui could divide us

[Orelsan]
My friend has always been there
Too long, my best friend was me
Buddy squats at home, we spend sleepless nights
We remade the world, means even in the silences
My friend always answers my shots thread
That is called every hour or every twelve rods
J'peux all understand him with an eyebrow
At the edge of the explosion buddy is the pin
I'm where many people mix friends and groupies
But I understood the treason since Fox and the Hound
My buddy is trying not please at all costs
Not pretend to move the head when j'fais couplets rotten
Late evening, always a corner sofa
My car is not in the ditch because it holds the key
Nothing separates us even large sums
No pigs are raised but raised some sluts
Buddy lowers one to highlight
This is my reflection, we break it's risky seven years of misfortune
My buddy is not a beast in heat
And I can sleep peacefully at night when my sister has J'lui
Loyal friend
If I have more down to earth dude reminds me of the laws of gravity
Always ready, always the first to reapply
If that blow for a party Play

This is my antidepressant, my lexo, my friends n'sont not all heroes
(n'sont = are not) so my friends are not all heroes.

In practice we all have our faults
If one day in my life I forgot to be legit

(J'réécouterais = I'm saying)

[Flynt & Orelsan]

Notice Anything Odd in this Workout Video?

I Am Not A Bum

chingalera says...

Bad town to be homeless in-Homelessness for me would find me at the first week without a roof in a city with a relatively mild, year-round climate with a resident population more amenable to the cause. San Francisco comes to mind immediately. Plenty of loopy, sympathetic-to-the-cause people with your choice of rooftops and squats to sleep in. Oh, and free gourmet coffee and restaurant food, and plenty of drugs

Been homeless....it ain't fun but it doesn't have to be miserable either. Get the hell outta Chicago, Ron.

Why I Hate School, But Love Education

L0cky says...

He does have a point. As @braindonut said there isn't an exclusive relationship between having a degree and being educated.

Out of the graduates I've worked with most of their experiences are described in this video. Students follow the orders of the curriculum and end up burnt out and disinterested.

I think a lot of the problem is in school guidance and social attitudes towards what education actually is. Most see and communicate it as a necessary tool to gain employment opportunities. Because of this, students choose their higher education subjects based on job outcomes, so a hell of a lot of students aren't actually interested in their classes.

Then numbers led government set targets for education institutions. When measurements are made into goals they stop being measurements. This leads to curriculums that focus on test outcomes rather than knowledge and skill.

All of the people mentioned in this video that were successful had something else in common apart from the fact that they didn't complete higher education. They pursued their dreams despite their formal education, not because of it, and they all pursued their own education.

Jobs, Wozniak and Gates taught themselves everything about computers. They didn't wait around for anyone to plan out their education.

Beckham trained in football since he could walk.

Richard Branson didn't wait around for a degree, he started selling mail order records from his garage and started learning the business by doing rather than reading.

I could go on.

One thing I find very common with graduates is that when I ask them what projects they've worked on during their education; what projects they started themselves; what they've created and put out there out of their own passion for their industry... 95% have nothing.

I would hire someone who has done their own thing and does not have a degree rather than someone who has 5 masters to their name and has done diddly squat outside of the requirements of their education.

How Advertisers Failed Women in 2012

UsesProzac says...

I've never been one of the "ideals" of women, especially those presented here. Growing up, it hurt. Still hurts, sometimes. I'm five feet tall, I've always been muscular and squat. I was athletic in my teens which only compounded that musculature. I had a child with the predictable changes to my body. I never felt beautiful, how could I? Beauty is harshly defined for me, in almost every advert. If I don't look like what's being shown, I'm not worthy of wearing lingerie, being considered sexy or parading in front of a screen where others can see me.

I'm tired of seeing perfect, airbrushed specimens. I want to see someone I can relate to.

Jan. 21 2012, St. Charles Illinois; A gun owner with a concealed carry permit accidentally shoots a man through the chest after a night fundraiser at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

May 24 2011, Orlando Florida; A concealed weapon accidentally discharges in the lobby of a restaurant injuring 4 people injured, including a 4 year old boy and the gun owner. The owner had a concealed weapon permit.

November 9, 2012; Colorado University - a woman accidentally shoots a co-worker on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical campus. The woman, who has a concealed carry permit, told police she bought the gun because of neighborhood concerns and recent campus thefts.

July 7 2009, Tampa Florida; While squatting down to use the toilet, the handgun of a woman with a concealed weapon permit falls out of her holster, hits the ground and discharges, shooting the woman sitting in the next stall.

January 24 2012, Dallas Texas; A 23 year old with a concealed carry permit accidentally drops his weapon while in line at a Walmart, injuring himself and 3 others, including 2 young children, when the weapon discharges.

We can do this all day. That's 1 google search and a few minutes of copy pasta.

Alien Queen Chestburster Alien 3 - studioADI

Ferazel says...

Yeah I know David Fincher doesn't want squat to do with Alien3, hence the quotes. However, if I recall properly, the assembly cut was advertised as being much more in line with Fincher's original thoughts for the project than the truncated version that ended up in theaters. I think the assembly cut makes this much underrated film more interesting by a significant margin. This movie reeks of death, decay, and the feelings of loss and search for meaning that accompanies death. If it was the last film I really think it could have found a following as correctly ending the series instead of that awful Alien Resurrection. *GAG*

Two things I wish would be fixed though are 1) The horribly composited alien (it looks like bad CG, but it is just badly composited) and 2) Why an alien egg was brought on board the Sulaco. It is just too much of a leap of faith to believe the queen laid it. (supposed to be somewhat explained by the upcoming alien colonial marines game, but that's not really canon or a fix to the existing film).

Anyways, back on topic. What I find interesting is that they had a "full" model of the queen chestburster with legs and tail.

EvilDeathBee said:

What "David Fincher cut"? You're not talking about the extended cut on the Quadrilogy box set (it's the only other cut I've heard about)? Because Fincher had nothing to do with that.

But that's my preferred version too

Neil deGrasse Tyson: Be Yourself

RFlagg says...

I have to disagree a bit. Do you need to do hard work? Yes, but there are plenty of hard working people who struggle and never become financially successful. They may obtain some personal satisfaction, but the "rich people are rich because they work hard, and poor people are poor because they are lazy" mentality that is so popular in the US is flat out wrong. Not everyone working at your local restaurant, retailer or whatever is there because they are lazy, sometimes people get stuck in a rut and hard work alone won't get you out of it.

There is a great deal of talent and luck involved as well. Had Carnegie not worked for Scott, he very well may have never became the rich guy he became. He lucked out working for someone who mentored him and gave him a huge boost. Had Carnegie never gotten to where he did, then perhaps Frisk would have just been a hooligan and the Johnstown Flood never would have happened... had Carnegie been more himself, he probably never would have hired Frisk, which at least would probably have stopped the disaster of the Homestead Strike (of course then he may have never became the philanthropist he became). There were also plenty of hard working people in the early days of computers, there was a ton of luck involved for Apple and Micro-soft to break out and become what they would eventually become. In those two cases, it helped that Gates and Jobs were asshats in their early days, which gets back to being yourself. But for each Gates/Jobs there were many more equally hard working people who never became successful and faded back to obscurity. It's not like Romney became rich through hard work, he came from money and Bain Capital is named for Bill Bain who appointed Romney CEO... not to discount Romney's work there, or his work at school proving himself, but how likely would it be that he would have been CEO had he come from a poor family and didn't get to get to go to such a high end university? Likely no.

That all isn't to say hard work doesn't help, it is a key, but hard work alone counts for squat.

>> ^chilaxe:

Basically he's saying "Be yourself and somehow you'll become successful or something if you're lucky."
Better advice: "Hard work and perseverance beats talent and luck, and successful careers can be reduced down to an algorithm."

Busted Kid Apologizes To Plane For Cutting In Line

jonny says...

oh I don't know... Yeah, his initial reaction is typical teenager, but just because the words weren't his doesn't mean it won't make him think. He had a 1.5 hour flight to get ribbed by his teammates and coaches and think about the whole thing. He's probably a marginally better person for it in the long run.

>> ^bareboards2:

Something tells me this kid learned doodly squat. Not his words, not his remorse.
