Westworld: What Makes Anthony Hopkins Great

RFlagg says...

This scene chilled me perhaps more than most any other scene... aside from perhaps later in the episode involving Dolores which goes a bit into spoiler territory so I won't cover it... but *promote the awesome view of scene.

You're F*ckin' High

These things seem to continue to ignore Jill Stein.

And in doing so, they miss an important point: Johnson is the "spoiler candidate" for TRUMP. In other words, the chances of votes for Johnson swinging the plurality of votes in a hotly contested state in favor of Clinton are massively higher than swinging such a state into favoring Trump.

Stein is the spoiler candidate for Clinton. But die-hard Democrats should be pleased with her poll numbers being low, which suggests that fewer usually-Democrat voters are looking for an alternative option than usually-Republican voters. In other words, the Democrat party is currently more unified than the Republican party.

...But before patting themselves on the back too hard, they should remember that perhaps the only reason that their historically disliked candidate is more unifying than the GOP option is that he is even MORE historically disliked. A dubious distinction at best.

I think I'll stick with my protest vote (for Stein), thank you very much.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

My only rebuttal to this is that Jill Stein & Gary Johnson are still good options if you were otherwise planning to vote for Trump, but really it's 50/50 - Johnson is a spoiler for Trump and Stein for Hills.

Look, here's the thing--even if there was a perfect 3rd party candidate and even if you could convince Americans to vote for them over the Democratic/Republican candidates, with Congress controlled by Democrats and Republicans (who seem more hellbent than ever on partisanship) the 3rd party President wouldn't be able to get anything meaningful done anyway.

America doesn't need a viable 3rd party candidate, it needs a viable 3rd party (and 4th, etc.)--one that people believe in enough to help win a decent number of seats in the House and Senate as well as in state elections. Until such a party appears, a vote for a 3rd party candidate really is "spoiler" vote.

Honestly, if Bernie just broke away from the Democratic party and started a new one I think there would be a shot at creating such a viable 3rd party but I understand exactly why he didn't--such a split at the current time might actually guarantee the Republicans the presidency even with their current clown candidate.

The Walking Dead: Season 7 Official Sneak Peek

Payback says...

At the last second before Negan killed -whomever- he said "If the kid does anything, take out his other eye and feed it to his father" or words to that effect. So we already knew by context Rick and Carl were "ok".

The "right-hand-man spoiler" means it wasn't any of the women, not just for the male/female wording, but mostly because Rick would be completely unhinged if it was Michonne, and the other women don't really rate "right-hand" status.

I figure it was Daryl. If for no other reason than Reedus went out and made a new series of him riding around America. No one else had anything else to do.

I'm with @ant. I haven't seen this movie and really have no desire to. It's extremely telling to me, that I've watched/read lots of reviews/articles on it with no regard for spoilers at all. I just don't really care about the story.

And from watching this video, it looks like Synder doesn't either.

Microburst Event Causes Planes to Take Off

Babymech says...

From a reddit (fwtw) on the topic :

"I'm very curious as to how you got this video, i was under the impression it never left the airfield.
This happened in April 2014, this past year. The weather is absolute crap here, especially for soaring. Well... we get good weather sometimes. Anyway, it's not uncommon for those TG-16A's to go up with a 25 knot gust... But i digress.
The cadets were pushing in because winds were out of limits and the weather was getting worse... and BAM! Microburst.
This microburst hit right next to the airfield. The tower spotted it early, gave a verbal warning "look out..." and cadets are trained to do the following: grab a wing (glider) and turn broadside into the wind and put the spoilers out. The tows were not so easy... nor lucky. Their takeoff speed is about 50 knots, and none of them were powered up when they lifted off the ground, to give you an idea of how bad the wind was. Their only maneuver is to face into the wind and pray they dont actually take off. The tows that took off left for COS airport... it took another 30 minutes of holding gliders before the tower let the cadets start moving the gliders.
As for taking off... 55 kt gusts are the highest the Academy has had in a long time. Considering there were a half-dozen other aircraft within 100 ft of the tows, along with people (i.e. cadets around/in the gliders) if he was moving too far from his position in the queue, the safest action is to get some altitude and try and leave the microburst. Or at the very least put some altitude and distance in between himself and the cadets and aircraft. You saw how slow the tows in the air were moving relative to the ground... those were HARSH winds.
At about 0:20, you can see a cadet hanging onto the wing of a glider on the bottom of a screen. This wind was scary. I don't know if anyone was up at the time, but full tempo ops can be up to 5 tows and 8 gliders... on a standard afternoon training day 3 tows and 4 or 5 gliders is normal. It looks like they were already pushing the gliders to the hangar..."

So are there pilots in any of those tow planes?
(edit)
The little i could find seems to indicate the planes had pilots.
