The Gay Debate: The Bible and Homosexuality

messenger says...

@shinyblurry

I'd appreciate your comments. I'm sincerely interested as you know way more about this than I do, and I'd love it if Christians and practising gays and lesbians could have no quarrel. I know if I were Christian, I would leap at any opportunity not to have to judge someone for something that doesn't cause any noticable harm in this world.

I promise to be good and not snipe.

The reason why the sights don't line up is because when you view it in real-time, there's a lot of camera shaking. There's also the timing of the bullet travel and lead-off for the victim. Added to that is the weirdness in the netcode which probably may throw people off even more.

The sniper rounds and bullet travel is something that takes extra time to get used to, especially for any players who usually play sniper. Bullets act like projectiles and when you're sniping, you're going to get bullet drops. Granted, you don't see this in other games like "a certain other FPS game." This is why it takes a good amount of time to build up that mental judgement of how far the target is, whether it's moving, how much to lead off, and how much to compensate for bullet drop.

Starcraft 2 Siege Tank Exploit!

Psychologic says...

>> ^Asmo:

Anyone think the setup time vs a decent player would make this pointless?

The way he did it yes, especially since air units can still attack the tank.

If someone perfected doing this quickly then what might work is getting 2-3 tanks down there and then attacking the front of the enemy base with the remaining forces. Since they'll be defending pressure at the front it will be a lot harder for them to figure out what is attacking their mineral line or buildings.

Another possibility would be an early drop attack, especially against zerg. Use the glitched tanks to support a marine drop. The tanks can hit enemy units, but can't be attacked by melee units like speedlings or even roaches due to the short range. Then just kill off tech structures with the marines.

What might be more useful is stacking some tanks inside a few missile turrets on a high-ground corner for expansion defense. It would keep air units from sniping them and would keep the tanks from damaging each other. It would also hide the number of tanks you have from your enemy (much like the older "viking flower").

How have shooters not evolved? if they haven't... can they?? I don't feel like I am playing the same game at all. I am in a giant open terrain in vehicles armed to the tooth, or I dive out and go on foot sniping from the bushes, or I plant C4 bombs and hide in the bushes waiting... or I dive off a wall and stab someone below. Quake-1 was an utterly different experience. It is evolving into very real situations from the surreal cartoon world.

The multiplayer FPS has certainly evolved since Quake. No dispute there. My contention is that they STOPPED evolving and have hit what I call an "innovation plateau" circa 1999. No major strides have been made since then, just the refinement/streamlining (which much of the time amounts to down-sizing) of already existing mechanics/capabilities (which isn't necessarily a bad thing in of itself, as games like TF2 prove).
Starsiege: Tribes was doing futuristic class-based gameplay with 128-256 player matches in huge, wide-open expanses with a full suite of vehicles and commander/command station/team bases and defense structures (which all rely on an energy source that must be defended to function) and a variety of player role customization options in 1999! Where are the successors who would take the core of this legacy and expand upon it? I don't doubt it'll happen eventually but damn, I'd have never guessed it'd have taken this long if asked at the turn of the century.
Had Tribes set the world on fire sales-wise I'm guessing the landscape of the MP FPS would look very different today. Instead it serves as another example to publishers that innovation on that scale, as incredible a game it may produce, simply isn't worth the risk.

would have a hard time arguing against that

maybe that upcoming star wars whatever the hell it is will innovate

Correct! Battlefield 3 is the answer.

Tywin Lannister is a badass - Game of Thrones

Yogi says...

>> ^SWBStX:

I loved this scene and although Charles Dance doesn't exactly look the part of Tywin Lannister as I had always imagined him, I think he's done a great job in limited scenes so far and I'm very excited about him going forward in the series.

I want him to die for being so handsome...please someone snipe him!

It's not about the downvote, it is simply about the dishonesty in saying that he is somehow being impartial with me. What further test do I need beyond the public displays of affection? As far as what I should or shouldn't be doing here, you have plenty of people providing the duck baby videos you intelligent and well educated people are clamouring for. If I ever get a star I am sure it will be by accident, and that is just fine with me.

You're on record for saying you don't like me, anything I have to say, and you think everything I submit is garbage..you've said it again in this video..or the fact that 95 percent of videos I've submitted here have an HPQP downvote, or that you've openly stated that I should be publically ridiculed and ignored. I think that's evidence for a bias. Are you this openly hostile and unsupportive to any other member? I very much doubt it. If you want to tag along, I really don't care..I just think your behavior is extremely petty and juvenile.
>> ^hpqp:
So I say you're right and this is how you thank me?
I've told @marinara and I'll tell you: I downvote videos whose content and/or form I do not like, and the religion channel is my favourite haunt (i.e. I watch all the vids posted therein). It just so happens that your posts are always in that channel, and practically always atrocious.
But if it rubs your ego the right why to think I stalk you, feel free, (but beware or my VS sweetheart @Yogi -bear might become jealous).
>> ^shinyblurry:
Sniping at me from the peanut gallery yet again, are you? Please come down from the balcony, Waldorf. Instead of stalking me and downvoting all of my videos, perhaps you could actually contribute something for once.
>> ^hpqp:
You're wasting your time @Skeeve, you'll get more out of arguing with a pile of sun-bleached dog poo than with the poster of this video... but you probably know that already.
@enoch I'm afraid shiny's right about original sin: Jeebs' whole skit is completely meaningless without it.

Now, now shiny-hiney: hpqp never said he didn't like you (in this thread) so please be accurate. Do not claim things that are demonstrably false. That's what got the intelligent design folks in such a pickle.
I also think your videos are garbage but I don't downvote them, usually. I don't downvote hardly anything except those horrid Hitler Downfall parody videos: I have a strong bias against them (much to the dismay of my fellow sifters) because I think they are bereft of wit and humor.
People are free to downvote anything they like, so long as they have a bronze star or higher. Now if you ever deigned to take my advice and post a baby ducks video or the odd sleepy puppy video now and again, you'll eventually get a bronze star too and gain the ability to downvote...which I encourage you to do. But you'll never get there insisting on taking the role of Reverend Shiny preaching some bronze-age, self-righteous piddle to a group as intelligent and well-educated as us. <IMG class=smiley src="http://cdn.videosift.com/cdm/emoticon/teeth.gif">
I'll bet if you made an attempt to sift baby ducks or sleepy puppies, we could test whether hpqp was genuinely biased but the way you're going...how can we? See the dilemma?
In short: Mix it up, son.
