I'm not really sure why looking at a stream would be cheating, I know it's a huge advantage but the streamer can add a delay to the stream if they want to avoid that kind of thing, so it's their own fault if someone watches their live stream.

I've not had experience streaming lately, but a year or so ago it was pretty expensive to add a meaningful delay. Either way, you can't really blame Sheth. I'm sure he realises he risks getting sniped, but then there are also a couple hundred people or sometimes more watching his stream for entertainment. Why should he let one kid with a desperate need for attention shit all over that.

@ghark there are some different issues with it. One is that you can "stream snipe", which means timing your finding match to the streamer, increasing the chances of getting matched up against him. that in itself isn't necessarily so bad, but it is essentially griefing.

The other is that if you add delay to your stream, you lose fundamental ability to interact with your viewers, which makes the stream much less entertaining for both parties.

A huge part of Starcraft is scouting what your opponent is doing and reacting to that, and being able to see the whole map negates that and gives you an extremely unfair advantage. It's like looking over the shoulder of someone else you're playing against, or looking into the cards of a poker player you're playing against.

It seems like the solution there (at least in theory) is robust, scalable, tiered community self-moderation. Pure democratic up\down voting like some communities have isn't enough, I don't think. You need to have a way to distribute moderation powers to those who demonstrate the responsibility to wield them, and I like the idea of different levels of power (e.g.: power users, deputies, moderators, administrators, owners, etc).


Gotta disagree, at least for VS, a smallish community where the apple polishers are already rampant. The current system is plenty. I've run clan sites and game servers, and I've seen the nicest, most reasonable, level-headed, fair-minded, trustworthy people turn into monsters as soon they get a fucking title like "server admin". Just too much sniping in forums about who booted who, and who started what, and who said what to who, and why this player wasn't kicked, but this player was, "he can't say that to me".... argh!

Most of the people that would make good mods here, (IMHO, of course), aren't here any more or only pop in on occasion. There are... four others I think would make good mods (top of my head). But I just don't think it's necessary to add even more bureaucracy and cliques when the current system of omnipotent overlord, (although far from infallible, afaic), works well enough.

False, the court has ruled many times that the sixteenth amendment grants the federal government the right to collect a direct income tax. Arguments to the contrary have been routinely ruled as frivolous resulting in additional frivolity fines for wasting the court's time. That's how dumb these arguments are.

The IRS is just a bureau of the treasury. The treasury doesn't need a law telling it how it can organize itself. So long as it operates within the scope of its powers, it can create any bureaus it wants. Congress passes income tax rates any time they pass a tax bill, often with the annual budget (with the powers granted to it by the sixteenth amendment to the constitution). The IRS is part of the executive and thus is charged with enforcing congress' laws. It's as simple as that. These arguments hold no water whatsoever.
