Best Shootout goal ever in ICE Hockey?

Tingles says...

I always thought it was as long as the puck keeps moving forward. Are there some of the better moves you've seen that have videos that, if you have the time, could post links too if they exist? Huge hockey fan, love the mess that the shootout sometimes is. Note: bored of the spin-a-rama move (way more questionable move than the one in this video).

It's questionable whether this goal should have been allowed. In a shootout the shooter must always be moving forward. It looks to me like he put on the brakes and stopped his forward motion before completing his spin move and shooting. In any event it's far from the greatest shootout goal ever. I've seen dozens of goals equal to or better than this.

Police perform illegal house-to-house raids in Boston

Fletch says...

@newtboy

What we do know is they did not know, or even have any evidence that they had returned to Boston after the shootout..."

What?!?! How in the fuck do you know that? Did you read that on Infowars? It's expected that a paranoid nutter as yourself would take hold of that bit of info and accept it without any evidence at all, but it's unfortunate that others here, who come here primarily for relaxation or entertainment and may read VS comments with a less-than-critical mindset, might gloss over it and have it slowly infect and then fester in their brains as fact instead of the unmitigated, unsubstantiated bullshit that it is. Evidence that the cops did not know or think the suspects could be in Boston or specific areas searched in Boston after the shootout or STFU. I'm assuming your only evidence they even conducted searches there at all is the YT description you mention, but it doesn't matter to me one way or another if they did or didn't. It shows, however, how easily you collect and incorporate any ethereal fragment of the English language that you feel will support your idiotic narrative.

newtboy says...

Everyone is speculating about what the police knew and when. What we do know is they did not know, or even have any evidence that they had returned to Boston after the shootout, but the description claims these searches happened there too.
As for evacuation at gunpoint, yes, it's possible he had moved into a nearby home, but not at all possible that he had morphed into a 12 year old child or woman, so holding them at gunpoint is ridiculous.
It will likely only be true "public record" if there are lawsuits that force the police to give specific reasons for each and every entry.

TheSofaKing said:

I agree that it should not be simple. But you are speculating a great deal as to what the police knew, and when they knew it. The"total picture" of police knowledge won't be known until several things play out in court. It will be public record and it can be debated then.

I disagree about the gunpoint evacuation thing. If they suspect he was in a boat, isn't it possible that he moved since police received that information? Couldn't he be in a house now? Seems reasonable to use caution given what his actions were throughout this event. I wouldn't like being pulled out of my house at gunpoint either, but I wouldn't think the police were doing it just to be dicks.

Let's just disagree to agree.

(But I will say it's not every day that someone who blows up people and tosses bombs at police evades capture into a neighborhood after car jackings and shootouts with the proven desire to massacre innocent people without provocation, and all with a big smile.)

I dont think you can say people were in imminent danger in any one house of the many they searched as they had no idea where he was. You cant say someones in immediate danger when you have no idea if they actually are. If they had him pegged to a few houses due to some type of evidence then maybe those people might be considered in imminent danger, maybe. Also the suspect cant escape if you have the house or houses surrounded that you "think" (basically taking a stab in the dark guess) he could possibly be occupying. I would think it would then be easy to obtain a warrant.

If this was normal ok procedure then every day blocks would be sealed off and houses searched warantlessly without consent due to violent or dangerous criminals(and what criminals aren't) having disappeared into a residential areas. Of course that doesn't happen.

CNN Sympathizes with High School Rapists

CreamK says...

Are some of you really that blind? Rehabilitation don't work criminals are hard coded? Then why does it work on other countries then? Supporting death penalty? Who the hell gives you right to take a life, just like the murderer did to their victims?

Sentences are way too harsh in the USA, there are countless studies proving that longer and harsher penalties does nothing to curb crime. There are nations that hand out death penalties for petty crimes and still there are people who commit those crimes every year. If death penalty would work, there would be no murders. Countries with shorter sentences have fewer repeating offenders, how is that possible in your world where criminals are animals who can not change their ways.

I guess those who want death penalty and ridiculously long sentences have something sadistic in their personality. YOU MUST SUFFER SO I FEEL GOOD. Same goes for inequality supporters, same principle, other must suffer to make me feel good.

How many shootouts with cops could we avoid when there is still hope in the criminals mind that the mistake they made won't cost them their lives.

On the story, this is more and more common, specially in the States but happens all over the world. Victims are on secondary focus, they aren't as interesting as perpetrators: Why? Victims have their story told before the news, it happened already, they are weak = prey. The assailants, their story has just begun, they are strong = predator.

Football (soccer) in a nutshell

bmacs27 says...

I don't like soccer because it's boring. The diving just makes it pitiful too. Sprinkle in a dash of settling games with penalty shootouts to really bring out that cheesy flavor.

Yogi said:

I suppose I could make the same argument about football, if I presented a clip of Suh doing something horrible I could paint all of the NFL in the same light.

This does happen in soccer but it's really that big of a deal, it certainly isn't as prevalent as dissent. Also anyone who says they stopped watching because of diving simply didn't like it very much in the first place, or only watched inferior leagues.

DAMN, you got played - Ice Hockey Penalty Shot

MilkmanDan says...

Perhaps, but this particular "bad goalie" played a few games for the Caps a few years back, and has a .936 save percentage and 1.75 GAA in the KHL this year (presumably playing against a fair number of pretty high-caliber NHL refugees), hence his playing in the all-star game there.

I doubt anyone would try that sort of move in an actual, competitive game situation, but then again I've seen some pretty wild things in the new NHL shootouts.

All this shooting right through people... where's the stopping power?

I kind of like that. It's definitely a different twist to the typical shootout scenes. Seems more surgical and ninja-like.
