The Walk.
It's not really about the ramp. He's an old rickety man, naturally he has trouble.
The problem is that he forces doctors to lie about his health, then things like this make the truth obvious.
Then he compounds lies upon lies. His skin is so thin he just can't let it go, he rambles for 10 minutes about how unfair everything is.
Remember, this is a guy born to incredible wealth, never worked a day in his life, thinks that knowing a fucking rhinoceros from a drawing is an impressive achievement, is cruel and demeaning whenever he has a chance, treats the world, and women's genitalia as his own personal playground with few repercussions, no matter how egregiously he's broken the law, rips off investors, contractors, the very country he now pretends to serve, lost billions of dollars in personal wealth while bragging about how good he is with money, had to turn to Russian lenders because US and European banks wouldn't touch him anymore, yet somehow fell ass backwards into the presidency of the US. Now he uses that position to line his own pockets, without the slightest care for those he hurts or kills in the process.
And yet... he finds life doesn't treat him fairly. He whines and complains.
You know the only time he's seemed truly sad and upset while President?
Was it when 100,000 Americans died while he made things worse?
No.
Was it when police started ramming innocent protestors and media with their vehicles, tear gassing, beating, and maiming with rubber bullets?
No.
What about when mass shootings happened on his watch, or school shootings, like Obama?
No.
He got truly publicly upset for the first time in his presidency when a disappointing number of adoring fans came to a rally.
He is so pathetic and useless, so self-serving and evil that pain, death, suffering on a scale that really hasn't been seen in the US in a very long time means nothing.
The only thing that matters is him.
Now, what were you saying about Biden?
Do you still want to do that side-by-side comparison?
Do you really think this is about a ramp?
It's an 11 degree ramp, not 3, which is over 2 times the gradient allowed (as per the ADA). And the ADA requires ramps of this sort to have handrails.
Where's the comparison video? I.e., Biden coming down the ramp.
"can't take back no hurt"
The scale of sensitivity has changed.
Back then, if a white dude beat up a black dude for being black, people would just say some shit about it and move on.
Today, name calling can land you in jail.
What qualifies as terrible has a lower threshold in today's social psyche.
As racism becomes rarer and milder, any remaining form sticks out that much more, and is that much more offensive.
(Same with violence. We're in the safest time in human history, but people are more worried about kidnappings and shootings than ever)
Basically, it's all relative.
I had a coworker that said to me 'this place is really racist', and I asked why. He said 'because nobody says hi to me as I walk down the hall'. My response was 'So? I never say hi to anybody'. So, I started forcing myself to say hi to people, just to maintain appearances. Otherwise, I'd just be going about my day minding my own business, and people could be getting the wrong impression.
-scheherazade
It was wrong then and today.
But pulling up hate from 44 years ago and and trying to imply racism of 50 years ago is the same/ worse today is laughable.

What am I going to do? Honestly, probably little besides offering moral support and trying to convince those on the fence or in areas under siege which side the scales of justice SHOULD tilt towards.
I'm old, broken, lazy, quick to anger, I live in the boondocks, and I'm pretty anti social and hate crowds. Marches are not where I belong.
That's my hate, I've grown it from seed. Why do I have to get rid of it? ;-)
In the words of Petrus T Steel, "this is the United States of America, and you've got a right to hate who you want, so let's start busting heads!" ;-)
OK, lets be clear.
What are you going to do about it? How are you going to get rid of the hate you have for them?
OAN: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
Duh, Bob, didn't you get the memo? It's the Chinese alright, but they're causing it with 5G phone signals like in Kingsmen except instead of a bezerker, it makes you sick. Get with the program.
Really, you spread nonsense like "the CDC created it and the Chinese released in their own country to hurt Trump" , both war crimes btw, and you accuse others of spinning the truth?! Lol.
Ignoring that nonsense doesn't negate the Chinese culpability, since it most likely came from their black market in endangered Pangolin scales.
It indicated it was collaborated with the Chinese lab in Wuhan . Studying is fine, Chinese letting it loose in Wuhan is not.
Keep spinning Truth to negate the fault of Chinese.
Are you part of the 1000 talents? Probably not you most likely a stooge
The World's Biggest Gear Reduction
A billion computers, counting a billion numbers a second, will take 10 to the 74 power years to count to googol. To give you some sense of the ridiculousness of this scale, the current accepted age of the universe is 10 to the 9th years.
Diversity and inclusion meeting ... at Michigan school
As a Canadian, I’d ask to take us off the list. We haven’t the national will or competence to operate a military of that scale, we’d likely disband it on the first day and then impotently petition the UN as all our NATO allies are overrun and pushed around by everyone else. We also are every bit as racist as a nation as Americans are, it’s just not as visible.
San Marino? Iceland? Finland? New Zealand? Switzerland? Holland? Denmark? Canada? Possibly Sweden? Id give them a shot.
Funny to imagine that. Montenegro pulling the strings for once instead of being pushed away from the camera by Trump. Half the world scurrying to maps in vain, trying to find it, the other half not knowing what the fuss is about as usual. You will buy our goat milk or we will impose tariffs on your fancy gangster guns, automobiles and helicopters!
As superpowers go, the US is not too bad. Its a fairly hands-off type superpower if you compare it to say the Roman Empire or Napoleonic France. Taking a long time to even annex Puerto Rico properly.
Wondering really how China will fare. Give it 25 years. And they sure wont ask as nicely as you just did.
More than a hologram: Star Wars-like tech you can buy now

Getting Cold (with thermal imaging)
Carefully
None of the endothermic reactions in this video have been suggested as methods to regulate global temperature, because even if they could be scaled up enough to make a global difference they don't address the systems which regulate the earth's temperature.
Some things which have affected global temperatures either up or down are:
Some people have proposed geoengineering to use those same mechanisms, for instance injecting sulphur dioxide into the stratosphere https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-018-07533-4 or seeding the ocean with iron to fertilise algae https://phys.org/news/2016-03-seeding-iron-pacific-carbon-air.html although there are some concerns about both approaches.
So how do we use it to combat global warming?
How can a PASSENGER land an AIRCRAFT?!
I wonder what the pay scale is for a passenger landing a passenger aircraft? I suppose I could name my own price or have the passengers start making bids.
Demonstrating Quantum Supremacy
It'll be useful eventually, but I wouldn't bank on soon. My final project in college was related to quantum computing, which at the time (18 years ago) was effectively entirely theoretical. I've enjoyed seeing the steady, albeit slow, progress.
The areas where quantum computing will really shine are problems which involve a huge number of possible answers, but only one best or correct one. The traveling salesman problem is a classic of computer science, as you can scale it up in complexity to the point where any traditional computer will eventually choke on the sheer number of permutations to test. Great way to demonstrate the need for clever solutions and well-written algorithms vs brute force approaches. An adequately sophisticated quantum computer, however, will theoretically be able to solve the traveling salesman problem nearly instantly, regardless of the level of complexity / number of nodes to navigate. Because it just tests all possible answers simultaneously.
Much like nuclear fusion. Apparently it works but is it useful yet? Ever?
Sir Attenborough explains global deal to protect ocean
A good, even *quality idea....for 40+ years ago.
It took 100+ years to mortally wound the ocean by 1000 cuts. A bandaid on one wound is not going to turn it around, and we almost certainly aren't going to do it anyway. Countries that don't buy into the plan will simply harvest most of the fish left by those who do. This only works in small scale preserves that are guarded against poaching, often by a military.
Fish stocks are disappearing at an alarming rate, many going extinct. For those species, it's too late, and they are numerous, and they are largely the fish humans prefer. Many others are in such decline fishing for them is already off limits or severely curtailed, like commercial salmon, abalone, and crab fishing in California. Even those actions have failed to revive their populations year after year.
Diatoms, phytoplankton, and other similar biotas are at the limit of acidity and temperature they can tolerate, and they are the base of the ocean food web, feeding most fish when they are fry or larvae. The gasses in the atmosphere today will push diatoms over that precipice with a massive ocean extinction following soon afterwards, and we continue to add more greenhouse gases than we added yesterday every day.
Then there's habitat loss, coral reefs and kelp forests are both being decimated by temperature rise and acidification. Together they are food and habitat for 25%-50% of all ocean fish and shellfish.
Less over harvesting of the ocean is a good idea, but pretending it alone can save the oceans is pure fantasy. The ocean has absorbed as much as 90+% of the excess heat from global warming, causing oceanic heat waves that destroy habitats both directly and indirectly. There is NO plan that solves that problem, it's well beyond our capabilities under the best conditions with worldwide maximum efforts.
Just sayin'.
Grreta Thunberg's Speech to World Leaders at UN
We can still steer between the different possible future realities.
Like that large scale famine or water shortage is preferable to nuclear war or global deadly disease outbreak. Which will it be, food or water? Reality will get more unpleasant before it has a chance to improve. Can we outrun the population and ecosystem gun with science? Possibly. Problem is society and morals cant keep up.
We have resources to do ANYTHING. Send people to Mars. Make water out of thin air and grow tomatoes in the desert. The only thing in the way are nation states and their institutions, and human instincts. The only thing that keeps those in check is culture and morals. There is no such thing as international law unless you are willing to go to all out war to enforce it (not possible since WW2).
And the "leader of the free world" is busy building a wall around his office.
So we probably need to be deceived or else we would all be hysterical without antidepressants.
Still a hysterical voice is not the voice of reality for me.
That's why we're hosed imo, humans are too willing to be deceived if the lie is more pleasant than reality..

Could Earth's Heat Solve Our Energy Problems?
The 1mSv per year is the max the employees at the dump/recycling plant can be exposed to, so leeching more than that into public water systems seems impossible unless I'm missing something. This comes mainly from solid scale deposits removed from the closed loop systems.
Average employees in German plants seemed to get around 3 mSv/yr on their table.
At Fukushima, According to TEPCO records, the average workers’ effective dose over the first 19 months after the accident was about 12 mSv. About 35% of the workforce received total doses of more than 10 mSv over that period, while 0.7% of the workforce received doses of more than 100 mSv.
The 10mSv was the estimated average exposure for those who evacuated immediately, not the area. Because iodine 131 has a half life of 8 days, the local exposure levels dropped rapidly, but because caesium-137 has a half life of 30 years, contaminated areas will be "hot" for quite a while, and are still off limits as I understand it.
Sort of...., most of the area surrounding Chernobyl is just above background levels after major decontamination including removal of all soil, but many areas closer to the plant are still being measured at well above safe levels to this day, and unapproachable, while others may be visited only with monitoring equipment, dose meters, and only for short times. It's not back to background levels everywhere, with measurements up to 336uSv/hr recorded in enclosed areas and abandoned recovery equipment (the claw used to dig at the reactor for instance)....no where near that low at the plant itself. Places like the nearby cemetery which couldn't have the contamination removed still measure higher than maximum occupational limits for adults working with radioactive material. The radiation levels in the worst-hit areas of the reactor building, including the control room, have been estimated at 300Sv/hr, (300,000mSv/hr) providing a fatal dose in just over a minute.
http://www.chernobylgallery.com/chernobyl-disaster/radiation-levels/
Don't get me wrong, I support nuclear power. I just don't believe in pretending it's "safe". That's how Chernobyl happened....overconfidence and irresponsibility. If we consider it unacceptably disastrous if it goes wrong, we might design plants that can't go wrong...The tech exists.
You'd be surprised.
Geothermal try to keep public exposure to less than 1 mSv per year.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/283106142_Natural_radionuclides_in_deep_geothermal_heat_and_power_plants_of_Germany
Living near a Nuclear Power station will get you about 0.00009 mSv/year.
Living in Fukushima will get you about 10 mSv in a lifetime, with life expectancy there at about 84 years that is 0.177 mSv/year.
https://www.who.int/ionizing_radiation/a_e/fukushima/faqs-fukushima/en/
Even Chernobyl is almost entirely background radiation now. Radiation is all scaremongering and misinformation these days, so people freak out about it but it really isn't that dangerous. It takes about 100 mSv a year to have even the slightest statistically detectable health effect and far more than that to actually kill someone.
