Amazing video clip about THC and PTSD

highdileeho says...

You can beat the science drum all you want. My expirence is that Pot is no longer an option for me because of my ptsd. I was a recreational user (4 times a week) through my teens and twenties, and even a little while I was in the service, but as soon as I suffered my first incident and became aware of my disorder, pot became the last thing I wanted to touch. When I smoked it my paranoia was through the roof, to the point were I would get anxiety attacks. This made sense to me after my shrink had told me what had happened to the chemical function of my brain. I'm effectivly supercharged to the point that the most benign stimulation will send me over the edge. Either with anxiety, or prolonged enporhine disharges that usually result in flying into a rage and pumeling some sap. Weed has always acted as that little push that sends me into anxiety fits. I haven't touched the stuff in about four years, and I used to love smoking, and tripping. Now those things

How satisfied are you with your job? (User Poll by peggedbea)

rottenseed says...

I work in construction although I lack the testosterone and mechanical inclination to be an actual construction worker, so I'm stuck in the office with you sad saps. In the office I work under the guide of an engineer (as I'm aspiring and going to school to be an engineer, myself), I work on network administration and all other IT needs, and do some project management to top it all off. Oh yea and I'm a Computer Aided Drafter as well. I don't get paid enough, so I get cranky about my job, however, I've found ways to stick it to my company. I like to take extended poop breaks. There's nothing like getting paid to poop. It's the American dream. It's what unions had in mind when they first formed.

good point about education made in the video and its a nice idea , the sped up and overly fast editing is slightly over done in my opinion and to me comes across as the person in the video trying to come across as interlectual or that its important that people think of them as interlectual , which is dum.

other than that , i like the idea and presentation , visual mathematics is gr8 , and the presenting of things in this context is origonal. allso I cannot state strong enoughf how shitly math is tought in school ( or was in my school ) and the way school dulls and saps all interest out of evan the most intresting of things.

Sharron Angle explains the plot to the book "1984"

>> ^peggedbea:

i'm really starting to think that there is something pathological about a teabagger's world view.

I've felt this way for a long time. There's definitely something really fundamentally different about the ways liberals and conservatives view the world.

The short version of my current working theory is this:

Conservatives, even the atheist ones, believe in karma. Good things happen to good people, bad things happen to bad people, and if only liberals and government would get out of the way, the righteous will all be rewarded, while the wicked will be made to suffer. Evidence that shows that bad things do happen to good people is all interpreted in one of three ways: the "bad thing" is declared a good thing; the "good people" are declared deserving of the bad outcome; or blame for the situation is shifted to government, no matter how uninvolved it was in the situation.

Liberals, in my experience, tend to believe that no one really deserves suffering. There's a basic dignity of existence that everyone, no matter how they choose to behave, is entitled to.

Neither group adheres to their ideology perfectly, but they both seem to hold up those ideals.

Conservatives still donate to charities that provide aid to the poor, even though they make arguments about how "welfare" saps people's incentive to be productive members of society, and liberals still wish death on conservatives who say things like hunger can be a great motivator when they're trying to kill a school lunch program.

Horses Killed by Fluoride in Tap Water

Lindsay Lohan Sent to Jail for 90 days

JiggaJonson says...

And the bitch thinks she's being tortured. Quick, someone bring me a a water board and some water.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/07/08/lindsay-lohan-defends-her_n_638913.html
From the article:
Later Lindsay vented about "cruel" and "inhuman" punishment. Over several rambling tweets she quoted from the UN Declaration of Human Rights:

It is clearly stated in Article 5 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights that...., "No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." this was taken from an article by Erik Luna.. "November 1 marked the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. But there were no celebrations, parades, or other festivities in honor of this punishment scheme created by Congress and the U.S. Sentencing Commission... Instead, the day passed like most others during the last 15 years: Scores of federal defendants sentenced under a constitutionally perverted system that saps moral judgment through its mechanical rules."

In a surprising twist, Lindsay linked to a Newsweek story about Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, the Iranian mother of two who may be stoned to death for adultery, and asked her followers to retweet. It's unclear whether she meant to lump her 90-day jail sentence with the inhuman punishment Ashtiani faces.

Cop beats Iraqi war vet

Lawdeedaw says...

>> ^Porksandwich:
Hell if those cops had been white I think this guy could ask for double what he's seeking at the moment. Betting he gets 5-10 mil though. Big cop should be facing criminal charges, but he'll probably just lose his job and go to a small town in another state to continue on. Little cop should lose his job as well, unless he's reported his partner for anger issues in the past and been ignored...then he might be looking at a pay day too if they decide to take action on him.
Guy getting the shit kicked out of him needs to sue em both after he's done with the big money trial against the department/government, put some financial hurt on them. The guy whipping his legs with that baton after he's cuffed, and focusing on his head at the beginning is bad news. He was looking to cause damage and pain to him and not in a subduing way. In a knock him out or make him beg kind of way.

Your post is very...uninformed... The agressive cop will most likely face criminal charges so the department will not hold the brunt of the lawsuit. This is a fairly recent change that came about as departments have been forced to take responsibilty. We had a guy down here pull a DUI woman out of her car (through the window) because she intended to drive off. Of course her door was locked... He lost his job, but did not go to jail. Why? Because she could have killed him. That fact did not prevent his job security... Still, in this case there is no chance for the victim to hurt the police.

Departments do not "feel the hurt" financially, ever. They do feel the brunt of politicians who turn on them and get their leadership fired.

You mean sadist idiot. The other was a passive idiot. But I am sure you counted the one cop that was there and who was a sadist.
At any rate, my view is to lock up the cop in this one. Fire the other cop if he did not report the abuse.
But the victim wants 35 million dollars from a lawsuit?! I could see if the victim's legs and arms were sawed off with a dull knife, but there is no excuse to give him 35 million dollars of taxpayers' money. Even if his civil rights were violated---if the cop is trained not to act in this manner and the department can prove such, and if the the department can prove they disciplined the cop properly, this greedy hat won't get much. I assume the department will settle out of court because lawsuits cost more than the payout would probably be... Just another sap looking for a free ride.
Thank god for cameras though.

Thanks for the new vid. I did kind of address the lawsuit issue more in the above quote. Call your congressman or woman, sue the officers, and be done with it.

Anthony Bourdain- Korea - Martial arts and Kimchi making

Gabe_b says...

Man, I bet I've eaten more Kimchi than almost anyone on this site, and I gotta say- The stuff is utter drek. The only reason in took such a hold in Korea is they needed a Vit. C source for the harsh as hell winters. Fresh kimchi has no redeeming qualities. I still eat it cause I'm a f-ing sap, but the stuff tastes like sewage. In a soup or fried though, that taste grand

Stuck On A Ski Lift In 110 MPH Wind

If they're wearing decent ski clothes then wind chill with be non-existent. The outer shell of most ski stuff is waterproof and wind proof, so wind doesn't make you any colder than calm air (otherwise skiing fast would freeze you to death).

Of course, not everyone wears proper layers, and I can only hope they didn't have any exposed skin.

Report From the Seal Slaughter - Spring 2010

And lastly, if it was the snake hunt or the rat hunt no one would be the slightest bit concerned, but because the seals can be cute (particularly the babies) everyone who knows shit-all about the situation feels like its their duty to save them.
what a narrow minded asshole remark.

4 million snakes are killed each year at Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia. It is a major threat to the survival of the species as well as the survival of the ecosystem they live in. About 250,000 seals are killed in Canada every year. Which one gets the press? Which one do moronic American do-gooders protest in the streets about? People tend to care less because it's not a cute, cuddly animal. I rest my case.

James Taylor - Copperline

Fusionaut says...

Even the old folks never knew
Why they call it like they do
I was wondering since the age of two
Down on copperline
Copper head, copper beech
Copper kettles sitting side by each
Copper coil, cup o'georgia peach
Down on copperline
Half a mile down to morgan creek
Leaning heavy on the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on copperline
We were down on copperline

One summer night on the copperline
Slip away past supper time
Wood smoke and moonshine
Down on copperline
One time I saw my daddy dance
Watched him moving like a man in a trance
He brought it back from the war in france
Down onto copperline
Branch water and tomato wine
Creosote and turpentine
Sour mash and new moon shine
Down on copperline
Down on copperline

First kiss ever I took
Like a page from a romance book
The sky opened and the earth shook
Down on copperline
Down on copperline
Took a fall from a windy height
I only knew how to hold on tight
And pray for love enough to last all night
Down on copperline
Day breaks and the boys wakes up
And the dog barks and the birds sings
And the sap rises and the angels sigh, yeah

I tried to go back, as if I could
All spec house and plywood
Tore up and tore up good
Down on copperline
It doesn't come as a surprise to me
It doesn't touch my memory
Man I'm lifting up and rising free
Down on over copperline
Half a mile down to morgan creek
I'm only living for the end of the week
Hercules and a hog-nosed snake
Down on copperline, yeah
Take me down on copperline
Oh, down on copperline
Take me down on copperline
