World's Biggest A**hole Driver!!!

conan says...

>> ^shagen454:

My understanding of physics, as elementary as it may be (I earned a C+) - the car being hit on the left side would push the car to the right like you said. The driver would have to correct the direction but it looks like he/she over-corrected. I dunno, I've never been clipped from behind going that fast.
>> ^P1ggy:
The asshole car clipped the car on the right in the back left corner. It pushed the back slightly out to the right which effectively put that car into a left hand turn. It did not do it on purpose.
>> ^shagen454:
Why did the other car turn in? Was he trying to hit the oncoming asshole car, thereby making the accident much worse? Anyway, upvote for amazing title.

I'm sorry to inform you that your C+ was well deserved ;-)

The car was in fact hit on the left side. but it would only go to the right if it had been hit on the front left side. since the moron had hit the other car on the back left side he effectively turned it to the left. This is a technique trained and used i.e. by security personell for stopping especially front wheel drive cars. basically you just "turn" the car.

Take a model car, put your finger on top and push it forwards. no with your other hand push the back end to the right. result: car goes left. quod erat demonstrandum as my phyics teacher used to note :-)

I Can Has Gravity? - Weightless Cats

spoco2 says...

I take issue with the voice over. He says that the 'automatic reflex action is almost completely lost' in weightlessness. Which is bullshit, they haven't lost the reflex, they just can't do it, you can see them try, but they over correct and spin around etc.

Stupid voice over man.

Boeing 777 Good Landing?

GeeSussFreeK says...

Well I dunno, if you look at the flickering of the control surfaces it may be a case of over-correction for the 1 point landing he had. But you could be right, it looks like a mighty crosswind might of flailed up on him right as he was touching down. Either way, any landing you can walk away from is a great one!

Big Rig Flips Over Highway Median

newtboy says...

Looking closely, it seems the second hit form the car was on the front of the right front tire, pushing it to the left with the full force of the impact, and keeping it there. Even if the truck had monster truck hydraulic ram steering, there was probably no way he could have kept control. The driver should certainly fight any claims he (she) is at fault, and use the video to defend themselves. It is clear that the car is in control of the steering of the truck leaving no chance for the driver to correct, or over correct. You can see, when the truck goes airborne, that as soon as the pressure on the right front tire is relieved, the tires turn right, hard. Unfortunately, the tires are in the air at this point, and do nothing.

Big Rig Flips Over Highway Median

CyberViperDriver says...

I drive a truck similar to this for a living and have known lots of drivers involved in accidents such as this. they almost always get the shaft legally. I would put money on the fact that this driver is going to end up paying a fine or losing his CDL based on the "official" word that he "over corrected" it is CLEAR from the footage that he didn't even have time to react at all, much less over correct.
that car was in or very nearly in his blind spot and very clearly forced him violently and instantly into the median divider. there was nothing that driver could do but ride it out and pray.
The idiot in the 4-wheeler will get a point on his license or some such bullshit and also stands a great chance of getting a juicy settlement out of the company that contracts the truck...if not Pepsi co themselves.
The truck driver is ALWAYS at fault by default in the cases...very rare for a truck driver to be exonerated even with indisputable footage proving his innocence such as in this case. I could rant for hours about the inequalities that exist for myself and my fellow drivers, but I digress.

Going round a corner too fast is bad for your Jaguar.

flat right-rear?

If true then that could have added to it. The road was also wet enough that the tires were throwing mist into the air as the car passed the camera.
Looks like their rear end drifted slightly and the driver over-corrected.

I think what you are seeing is smoke from a tire that has been flat long enough to get smoking hot. And yes, they probably over-corrected.

African Shaman Levitation?

I dunno, seems fake to me.
If he was levitating by his own power, he wouldn't have to over-correct himself with his body mass..
If he had the power to do it, it should technically be up, down, and strafing without having to move body parts for balance.

Ah, it appears we have an expert here to tell us all about how levitation works.

Yeah, right?
What gives, Shep? Can you tell me what happened to the leprechaun that used to sleep outside my window? I miss him.

I ate him.

Now Hiring. Spellcheck. (Sift Talk Post)

MINK says...

i actually collect signs like this, but i look more for overly correct signs or signs that are not needed. like in a sweetshop in london they have a sign saying "please do not eat the sweets" lol.

in lithuania you get some good english translations, like "restaurant currently closed because bureaucratic difficulties" ... which means "trouble with the mafia".

but anyway, 10/10 for this one. reminds me of the place on leicester square called "SCHOOL OF ENGLIS"
