Evolution's shortcoming is Intelligent Design's Downfall
I know, a cheap argumentative shot. I seldom cite others to prove a point, unless I first state facts, then give a link for collaboration.
I also apologize for jumping from an argument is support of the RLN to arguments in support of ID (par. 3 - 7), two related, but separate issues.
Regarding Kirk Cameron's banana fervor, I somewhat agree. I see design inferences where most others don't, including various synergistic relationships which are generally attributed to convergent evolution, but which I sometimes attribute to design, or in the case of change over time, re-design.
Most speciation events are simply naturally occurring adaptive alterations, to adapt to a changing environment. But more radical body-plan revisions, land mammal to aquatic cetacean for example, show signs of designer input, much of which could have been 'cut-and-try', rather than 'poof' style modifications. Thus, the uncovering of intermediates, and the lengthy time periods involved.
Neil deGrasse Tyson on genetically modified food
btw. You guys should all watch UTOPIA
(joke)
(but seriously it's a cool sci-fi series on channel 4 right now and hypothesizes on scenarios like Genetic Modification, Agribusiness, etc.)

Lunatic fake feminist disturbs the relative peace
This is not all directed @Januari, i lost track of how to separate quotes in comments about 4 years ago, but yours was the most detailed feedback i could use so i thought it polite to reply to you. In the approximate order in which things occured:
The only business of who that person was is them and i, and that has already been resolved. That should have no impact on this video, it is merely what the video reminded me of because that was what had recently happened to me. Perhaps that's why i saw the side i saw to it. I honestly do not understand the fuss, the fuss that has NOT been made by me. I clearly asked for feedback on my description, unfortunately no actionable feedback has come in - "i don't like it" isn't a recommendation.
I'll happily make a few modifications, but no one seems to like it anyway so i'd just as readily get rid of it if i knew how - you have already judged it on the description. If/when i find out how to, i'll do so, and until then if you'd like to say which bits in particular think are disingenuous? I'll make what changes i think have been suggested, but so far the feedback comes across more as a slight more than actual feedback so i still don't really know what changes to make. That's why i asked people!
I don't like the behaviour of the men at all. I don't condone violence towards anyone if it can possibly be avoided, but i didn't think that i needed to agree with the people who recorded a video in order to post it.
Did she "get what she deserved"? She was arrested, no harm came to her. Last time i checked we entrusted the law to settle things like that, and they made their decision. Carrying on like that wasting police time when there's real people out there in the world who need help? Does she even consider that she's making it harder for the next person who really does get shoved over to get the protection they need? Sorry, but yes i do think she got what she deserved here. The guys who shoved her deserved a little karma too, for more reason than one.
@Yogi - in both the original and now the new descriptor, i made it absolutely clear that this woman did not represent what feminism is. I can't understand why you are suggesting that i said such a thing when i specifically said the opposite. I do not even claim to understand how people like this lady thinks either. I recommend you re-read the descriptor. This woman is not a feminist, and i do not therefore "understand how all feminists think" as you falsely accuse.
Please at least limit yourself to insulting/berateing me for things i am guilty of. Like, for example, being naive enough to think that people on the internet can resolve a problem peacefully with discussion.
@dystopianfuturetoday - i hope that whatever species of male you represent is ok with that statement!
Really not sure what i'm watching, but to represent it as anything other than a bizarre event without context is, at best, disingenuous.
Misleading title, as Chaos pointed out, seems to suggest she got what she deserved, Incredibly disingenuous description, just all around ugly video. Nothing redeeming.
hoverboards are here
Yes, the other end of the hose is hooked up to the jet ski.
So "$6K a pop" is disingenuous, you also require $10-13K of jet ski.
The first ones of these, the "jet packs", tried to use a proprietary floating pump, then some yahoo got all smart-ass and noticed you could just use a jet ski with minor modifications, Doesn't even really affect the jet ski operation either. You just disconnect the hose and you're back to normal.
Are they powered by the jet skis following them, or are those just for safety when the boarder crashes and goes unconscious in the water?
Pretty neat, but I want to see them not attached to another boat (which the link said they are) but instead towing their own tiny float with the motor inside it.
The REAL Reason You're Circumcised
There's the rub...in many places, information IS hard to come by. If your Dr still believes it's a good thing for your child's health, and tells you so, you are likely to believe him/her. I agree, they SHOULD know by now, but that's not the same as saying they do know. If you think the information you have is correct, you would have no reason to think you need a 'refresher course' about it...sadly.
It seems we agree that this is something people should at least be educated about and should actually consider thoroughly before doing it to their children....or better yet wait until they can educate the child and let them decide...unless there's a medical need for it (or a good likelihood of one in the near future) like the ones described above.
Male circumcision is a far cry from 'female circumcision', which is really clitorectomy (I've never heard of a legitimate reason for that)....maybe if they cut the whole tip off they would compare, but that's not how it's done.
I misspoke, they're the crocodile people.....
http://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/newguinea-crocscars-pp
you are right, my modification of your hypothetical did muddy it a bit off topic, but was meant to show that there may be an unknown reason for the 'mutilation' that makes it beneficial rather than barbaric. That seems to NOT be the case for most circumcision...at least not in today's society....but perhaps there are reasons I don't know for it.
Ok, I will grant your point about ignorance vs malice, and certainly for uneducated people in decades past it's understandable that they just went along with it because they didn't have access to the information.
But it's 2014 and it's still going on, and the US of all places. It's not like the information is hard to come by.
Call me crazy, but maybe when someone suggests cutting pieces off your child, you should take a few minutes to research it?
As I said before, what mentally competent adults do to their own bodies is their own business. The only reference I could find to the alligator people is 1950s horror movie, but I have no problem with it as you describe it.
Regarding the "hardcore nipple chafing" (and this conversation is REALLY starting to get weird now ), if there was a real, practical reason, then that certainly mitigates it, but then the analogy is kinda muddled, because there is no real practical reason for circumcision. It's purely a cultural/idealogical practice. Again, I don't have a problem with that in adults (you're not hurting anyone but yourselves), but it strikes me as a particularly messed up thing to do to defenceless infants.
Hugh Herr: The new bionics that let us run, climb and dance
I'm not worried about a loss of humanity or w/e - Are amputees somehow less human because they use a prosthesis? I don't think so.
I'd be more worried about a divide forming between those that can afford to enhance themselves, be it through implants or some sort of genetic modification, and those can't. One would hope that this technology would improve the lives of all humanity and not create a society with a rigid hierarchy with almost no social mobility.
*promote science making peoples lives better
While I'm at it, some people love to doom say about loss of humanity etc as we increasingly integrate technology into our lives and ultimately bodies. Personally, I can't wait for it. I'll be the guy lining up for an arm that let's me punch through walls

They tend to sift themselves. If you go to a video within a playlist when grabbing the embed it will be the embed for the whole playlist. If you want just a single video in a playlist you must make a modification of the embed or url
Thank you - it was an awesome sift.
By the way - how do you sift a YouTube playlist?
Health Care: U.S. vs. Canada
Things will change in Canada now, Harper did a sneaky modification to health care. They're limiting the amount that the Federal gov't will give the provinces. They're also putting limitations on things that should not be limited (eg. nurses, Veteran support, specialists.)
In Ontario, things are pretty good. It has it's problems, but everyone can get seen. I think, unless this legislation gets changed, it's going to start going down hill in the next five to ten years.
TDS 2/24/14 - Denunciation Proclamation
Nice cherry picked quote. From your own link:
So President Lincoln was out to save the union, as was his job.
And yeah, I'll bite.
Slavery is one of the few reasons I'd emphatically back for going to war. The idea of buying the slaves to end slavery is morally repugnant to me.
Why didn't Lincoln buy the slaves before the war starts?
In his own words: “I have no purpose, directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so.” ~Lincoln
&
“My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union.” ~Lincoln
He went to war to prevent secession, not to free the slaves. He was not looking for peaceful solutions to end slavery. And yes, most taxes the Federal government collected at the time came from the South. Coincidence?
TYT - A Great Way To Save USPS, But Will It Happen?
He explains why Republicans are against it in the beginning of the video--they're looking to bankrupt the Postal Service (thanks, lobbyists) and this plan will save it instead.
As to your next point, no true capitalist is going to accept less profit. These places charge that much because they can. They're located in inner city or other low income areas where, if people don't have bank accounts, they also aren't likely to have transportation to shop around for the best interest rate. Which is why this plan is brilliant, because not only are the post offices already conveniently located, they're not running on a purely capitalist agenda (i.e. they're not seeking to maximize profit as their primary motive for being in business).
As to the last point, yeah, there would probably have to be modifications made to post offices so that they can store larger sums of money. But robbing a post office (or just messing with postal workers in general) is a federal offense, meaning you would get the FBI coming looking for you, not some keystone cops.
He has yet to specify exactly why the republican are against this? I can't see, as he says that republicans are against helping people.
If pay day loan stores are charging that criminal rate then why doesn't some other capitalist step and charge 1/2 as much? 1/3 as much?
As far as Warrens idea it sounds good but is it feasible? Would the post office start getting robbed? Would they not a safe and stuff like that?

Swedish trick with a bandana??
I didn't see anywhere that he had given credit to Copperfield. I found it purely by YouTube's algorithm recommending it to me after I had watched this video. I saw on Reddit that a few other people had noticed the same thing a few months ago.
I think that Hackner should be crediting it because it is almost without modification. Copperfield clearly presented this as a piece of comedic magic and Hackner just added a little goofiness to it.
That's actually a really good find. Were you able to see if he gave a nod to Copperfield somewhere? At least then he's copying but not claiming it's his own material.
GTA V 5-Star Police Chase
Yeah what a thrill to watch.
I believe the car probably has armored tires, which is one of the modifications you can make on vehicles.
V is easily the best GTA to date. The writing is unspeakably good.
Going to the Doctor in America
The notion that diabetes is totally preventable is, of course, absurd. But, because more than 90% of diabetics are type II, and probably 90% of them could prevent the disease through risk factor modification, diabetes is largely a preventable illness. Roughly 20 million US citizens are afflicted by self-induced diabetes.
Monsanto-seeds of death-full documentary
I'm actually wrapping up a game project right now that's a satirical protest of Monsanto. I'm eager to share it on the sift, especially with all the Monsanto news lately.
Also, I discovered this app the other day which seems like a great play-field-leveler:
http://www.buycott.com/
Didn't care for this documentary though! Way, way too slanted. I get sick of documentaries I agree with always stooping to the same bullshit propaganda, with their overly dramatic music, and the way they phrase things to make them sound more "evil" than they are.
("Genetic Modification is where you take genes from one animal and force it into another")... Puh-leeze. You immediately lose my support when you play the same manipulation games as the people you're fighting against. It's pathetic.
