Oakland Solidarity March in NYC W/ Sgt. Shamar Thomas

These people need to to stay on course. Nonviolent protests against a violent oppression works, it just is going to be very tough on individuals. Think Gandhi, he libreated a whole country and shed no blood. But protesters need to obey the law, even when it is going to hurt.
The police once again was powerless, giving contradictive orders and finally started to create chaos. That way they can manipulate the crowds to breaking the law and then arrest you. The only thing keeping deaths out of this is the use of cameras, otherwise they would've beaten them from the start. But all it takes is one martyr and this will blow over very quickly. Then comes national guard, the army and martial laws.

I was with you until the two sentences at the end.
I would agree with this change.

"But all it takes is one martyr and this will blow up very quickly. Then comes national guard, the army and martial laws and the Occupy Movement will expand exponentially."

Paul was asked for his opinion on whether H.R. 645 (The National Emergency Centers Establishment Act) could lead to Americans being incarcerated in detention camps during a time of martial law.

“Yeah, that’s their goal, they’re setting up the stage for violence in this country, no doubt about it,” responded Paul.

BBC Shushes Black Writer Broadcaster About London Riots

Krupo says...

The Canadians here and anyone else paying attention to the G20 riot in Toronto last year shudder at this. Deja vu all over again. Saturday, the cops let the "black bloc" (white kids trashing storefronts) do their thing.

Sunday, the cops responded with the savage beatings/kettling actions.

Seeing it once looks like an awful mistake. Seeing it a second time... troubling.

Police were ordered to stand down as London burned:
...
According to eyewitnesses to the initial riots in Tottenham, police were seen “standing back and allowing rioters to cause havoc,” a trend that continued during subsequent nights before Prime Minister David Cameron ordered 10,000 extra police officers to patrol London last night.
This has now been confirmed by sources within Scotland Yard who said police were ordered to “stand and observe” even as brazen acts of violent crime were committed against both people and private property, a directive which prevented them from arresting any of the troublemakers.
...
The police’s inadequate response quickly led to calls for martial law, curfews and the use of water cannons on streets in England for the first time, a power that Prime Minister David Cameron has now authorized.
Britain’s most widely-read newspaper The Sun ran a poll today which found that two thirds of Brits support the use of rubber bullets to deal with rioters, while 33 per cent supported the use of live bullets.
“Curfews are backed by 82 per cent, using tear gas got 78 per cent support and Tasers 72 per cent,” states the report.

Iraq Invasion: Operation Ancient Origins?

America will never be America until Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld are behind bars.

Hard to say this to you Rougy, but I agree.

I've only watched the first clip so far, but it is the first video account I've seen that finally goes after the real problem of the occupation. The failure to implement martial law after the fall of Baghdad.

What's worse, is that everyone should have known and expected things to go exactly as they did in the absence of martial law. Instead, Cheney and Feith deliberately and repeatedly refused to prepare any plans for a post war Iraq involving lawlessness or sectarian violence. They should be shot for that alone.

That said, Saddam had done far worse things to the Iraqi people, repeatedly and deliberately over the last several decades and Iraqis are better off for his removal. I still support the Iraq invasion, despite my enormous and vehement criticisms and problems with the following occupation.

Adult curfews ≠ martial law.

Explain this statement to me. Maybe you don't understand martial law.. but they are saying anyone on public streets can be arrested. It 100% is martial law for 12am-7am. Do they have exceptions for driving or businesses? Are road blocks setup at the city limits to prevent traffic from travelling across city?

Are business like bars and hospitals and gas stations to all be closed at midnight.

I supposed this might be a no-loitering law, but from what they said it is a curfew. It would never last through any court challenge as they do not have this power except for emergency. Crime wave isn't emergency unless you can cite the public hazard. It also appears to be all-summer long kind of curfew.

Be a Proud Liberal (The West Wing)

NordlichReiter says...

Fuck two parties.

Fuck stereotype.

There are good liberals: Kucinich, Grayson, and that bald guy. I can't remember his name, the one that talked about martial law. Franken seems like a smart fellow, and he reminds me of Lewis Black.

There are bad conservatives, like the whole of those fuckers that voted against Franken's amendment to make felonies non arbitrary offenses.

But I am more of a New Hampshire type Libertarian and I cannot stand the current system as it is. The 2nd amendment is one that should not be infringed upon, but is used by the ignorant to push some very stupid ideas. Half of these people I would think haven't a clue what it is like to use a weapon in defense, or offense. I cannot stand police intimidation, and I cannot stand this unjust fear of the Justice System. Or Private Prison Systems! Now we have private police officers!

I have to say, you fools keep arguing about right and left while these great injustices are perpetrated on our tired, our poor, our retched refuse, our homeless, and tempest-toss.

You want true liberty? Or a place to truly have your Liberal, Conservative thought? Start with ending the Federal Reserve. Then move on to the lobby. Then move on to the Military Industrial Complex. Remove the monetary cost to get elected to Office the monetary cost that stops the poor from being a part of the system.

But most of all! Break these goddamned Stereo types: Right, Left, Moderate, Statist, Centrists, Libertarian, and so on. Fuck that we are United States Citizens fucking act like it.

Coup Leader against US Government calls Radio Show

NordlichReiter says...

Godamn idiots.

What an idiot. Using the constitution as an excuse?

The 2nd ammendment is there to protect you from all out war by a government. So until the 1st Brigade starts massing outside of bumfuck Oklahoma there is no reason for this.

Also you can bet your ass, there is a 3 letter acronym crawling all over this case.

Also, he said they meet every friday? Simple, start looking for large groups of people who meet on friday in oklahoma, specifically large groups of white people.

All I have to say is they better stay the fuck out, and chill out. Cause if they fuck up my World Of Warcraft/Left4Dead/TF2 time because of Martial Law then I'm going to be shit pissed off.

Judge Napolitano on Forced Vaccinations in Massachusetts

gwiz665 says...

I don't think this is troubling. If a disease is running rampant and we have a vaccination, then we must secure ourselves and our fellow man. We cannot allow people to run around spreading the disease all willy-nilly even if they want to. An epidemic is as serious as war time - martial law must be enacted if it comes to it. This is not a permanent thing either, it will be until the epidemic is contained and squashed.

So, yeah, I'm siding with the state on this.

Maddow: Healthcare Bill Intmidation Taking Dangerous Turn

chilaxe says...

^I don't find fault with Maddow's overall thesis, only with the details.

It's flimsy to defend our usage of "Nazi!" as harmless metaphor, while presenting our opponents' usage of "Nazi!" as literal and frightening. Naomi Wolf wasn't speaking metaphorically when she was certain that as of Oct 1, 2008 (~3:35) the Bush administration had launched a coup, and we were now living under martial law and a fascist state, and Obama wouldn't be elected.

Partisanship and political wishful thinking become a cognitive bias with significant costs when you're raging against even people whose only concern is a scientific understanding of the world.

You and I still have a bet going that Peter Schiff's certitudinous claim of an immanent end of the world as we know it won't be occurring by the end of 2010.

I know progressives are good people trying to do the best thing, and I do appreciate our debates, though
