It's not a sailboat, you dumb bastard

Love me some Mallrats! Pretty sure this was my introduction to Ben Affleck, as the dickhead from Fashionable Male. Seeing Stan Lee reading the Mallrats script on a train(?) in Captain Marvel was an excellent moment.

The all-new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas - “Luv Bug” Commercial

The only thing this makes me think of is certain scenes in Mallrats, and talk of sex in uncomfortable places. (and the whole kid problem they could have avoided if they had practiced that instead)

Kevin Smith Shares A Moment With Daughter Harley Quinn Smith

ChaosEngine says...

I loved Kevin Smith back in the Clerks days (hell, I even thought Mallrats had its moments).

Less of a fan these days, but hard not to smile at that. Dude may not have lived up to his initial promise as a filmmaker, but I'm with @Sheppard, he's just a frickin' awesome human being.

Kevin Smith's "Red State, USA" Coming to Your Town (Cinema Talk Post)

spoco2 says...

I love listening to Kevin Smith talk, I have both of the Evening With DVDs, I was in an audience with him talking for a couple of hours after a screening of Clerks II. I love Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy... after that, well... um. Dogma was pretty darn good, but found the poo monster to be purile. JASBSB was god awful, Jersey Girl was derivative tripe, Clerks II was better than I thought it was going to be, but not great. Zack and Miri had about one good scene, and Cop Out looks like utter shit that I'd rather not waste the time with.

Now... the trailer for this looks ENTIRELY different to what we're used to with him, like wow, that's something different to be sure.

Back during that talk I was at he said he was going to do a horror film, and I guess this is it?

Anyway... I wish him the absolute best fucking luck. I REALLY hope he has made a good film here, I'd love to see him prove himself and get back up after some average flicks.

(Not that he has done badly money wise on any films... and here's a fascinating titbit from the red state site:

"I have stepped up my live gigs considerably, including taking SModcast on the road as well – so much so that, lately, I’ve earned more just being me on a stage somewhere than I have for directing film."
. Which, I guess, doesn't surprise me that much considering how damn good he is in person.)

So. Good Luck Mr Smith, hope you do well.

Super Hero Hooker - The Pro

I think they might owe Kevin Smith partial credit for that "move your head" moment towards the end. Couldn't find the relevant Mallrats clip online, but it's basically Jason Lee's character discussing why Superman would need to have a super girlfriend for exactly that reason.

I bet he blows a load like a shotgun. Jesus Christ, that kid is back on the escalator!

It's a quote from Mallrats. There's a few scenes where one of the main characters (Brody) rants about a certain kid being left unsupervised on an escalator, and how he hopes the kid has a horrible accident to teach the mother a lesson in parenting.

Exactly as described by flechette.

I don't understand the title of the video. "BACK" on the escalator? It's the same event replayed from three camera vantage points. Unless I'm missing some greater context...

Clerks - The Dangers of Pleasuring Yourself

Shepppard says...

>> ^flechette:
Poor Shepppard! Clerks, Mall Rats, Dogma, and Clerks II all have some tie ins.

And jay and silent bob strike back has a few nods to certain things, but I just never realized that the funeral they're going to was the chick who died in Mallrats.
