Liberal Redneck - Muslim Ban

newtboy says...

Bob is posting Christopher Hitchens videos?!? Have the wolves begun living with the lambs!?!
Do you know what he said about Christian fundamentalism @bobknight33? It’s not flattering.

As a side note, and on topic with the video, every terrorist act perpetrated in America since 2017 has been committed by a right wing “Christian”.
The United States Department of Homeland Security reported in October 2020 that white supremacists (all right wing Christians) posed the top domestic terrorism threat, which FBI director Christopher Wray confirmed in March 2021, noting that the bureau had elevated the threat to the same level as ISIS.
A 2017 report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that out of the 85 deadly extremist incidents which had occurred since September 11, 2001, white supremacist extremist groups were responsible for 73%, while radical Islamist extremists were responsible for 27%. The total number of deaths which was caused by each group was about the same, though 41% of the deaths were attributable to radical Islamists and they all occurred in a single event — the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting in which 49 people were killed by a lone gunman. No deaths were attributed to left-wing groups.

Smoke Shop Robbery, Las Vegas - Robber Stabbed

luxintenebris jokingly says...

get the drift...sort like those folks who said wearing a cross is a bit like wearing a noose/electric chair/syringe pin or blind-folded man w/cigarette button.

rather it be the fish, dove, flame, lamb, star, or Chi-Rho. If one wanted to prompt angst in a fellow 'Christian' - a rainbow.

what is sorta cool is that minuscule sect of Christians that believe JC slipped and died in the shower. they use bathtub icons.

also kinda hard on boy scouts. the flag patch comes w/the uniform. tried to add some 'hip' to the shirt but the black flag patch wasn't appreciated.

do have veterans in the family, 7 yr - 33 yr, so am okay w/their lapel pins (et al).

Whenever I see this I instantly KNOW these are hypocritical people with “do as I say, not as I do” mentalities. Like those who drape themselves in the flag, it’s proof positive they don’t believe in or respect the religion, they only want to use their faux love for Christianity (or a country) as a club against those they dislike.

The Bible says clearly and unambiguously to never worship idols.

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
The cross is an idol, a graven image of an execution device. Definitely a thing that is “in the earth”. Any Christian that wears (or even worships) the cross is violating their own religion in an effort to wear it on their sleeve as a badge of honor and/or shield.

Same goes for flags, wearing one as clothing is seriously disrespectful to the flag and the nation for which it stands….especially when it’s done to show how much more patriotic they are…it proves the exact opposite. People wear flag underwear to show their patriotism while literally wiping their ass with it and farting on it all day as they sit on the flag….real patriotic!

I don’t understand people who do that, it’s clear to me that those who wrap themselves in religion or patriotism really have neither.

PS, notice the reflection in the lamb’s eye in the thumbnail. It looks a lot like “The Metal” in that Tenacious D video.

Fun Fact: Menlo Park, NJ (not CA)

In November 1877, one of Edison’s first major inventions at Menlo Park was the phonograph, which was a basic machine that allowed a person to speak into a diaphragm that was attached to a pin that made indentations on a paper wrapped around wood. The first words Edison successfully recorded on the phonograph were “Mary had a Little Lamb”. By 1878, this invention was known all around the world and Edison soon earned the title of “The Wizard of Menlo Park.

Dad was a big fan Edison.

If you need to give love a character name, I can live with that. Artists do it all the time.

Truth is, love is all you need. It's the highway to hell. If you want to get to heaven, you've got to go through hell.
How can there be such a sinister plan
That could hide such a lamb, such a caring young man

BACON CAUSES CANCER!!!! MCDONALDS IS GIVING FREE CANCER!

Mordhaus says...

The cancer arm of the World Health Organization has some serious concerns about some of Americans’ favorite foods. The International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies processed meat as a carcinogen, something that causes cancer. And it classifies red meat as a probable carcinogen, something that probably causes cancer.

Processed meat includes hot dogs, ham, bacon, sausage, and some deli meats. It refers to meat that has been treated in some way to preserve or flavor it. Processes include salting, curing, fermenting, and smoking. Red meat includes beef, pork, lamb, and goat.

Twenty-two experts from 10 countries reviewed more than 800 studies to reach their conclusions. They found that eating 50 grams of processed meat every day increased the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. That’s the equivalent of about 4 strips of bacon or 1 hot dog. For red meat, there was evidence of increased risk of colorectal, pancreatic, and prostate cancer.

Overall, the lifetime risk of someone developing colon cancer is 5%. To put the numbers into perspective, the increased risk from eating the amount of processed meat in the study would raise average lifetime risk to almost 6%.

----------------------------

Read the study. The average raises almost 1 percent. This was copied straight from https://www.cancer.org/latest-news/hot-dogs-hamburgers-bacon.html.

Also your stats are way off it's not 1% it's 18% for every 50g according to the WHO after reviewing 800 studies.

Women are not as divided on #MeToo as it may seem

newtboy says...

Nooooooo.
Wanting to sacrifice a few lambs on the altar of revenge proves it's not about fairness or equality, it's about bitterness, payback, and division. That loses far more people than it gains, and creates a reason to fight against #metoo. Fight that desire, please.

The best way to avoid going over the line is clearly defining where that line is, for everyone. Discuss it, don't just blindly cross it to everyone's detriment.
Sexual line crossing is what the movement is fighting, if it turns to line crossing itself, it's useless except as a tool to divide us.

Btw...men get harassed and raped by women too. #metoo

When #metoo first gained ground, I was in the camp of "Matt Damonism", trying to find reasonable grounds. Saying Ansari's bad date shouldn't be likened to rape, etc. etc.

Now though... maybe we need some "sacrificial lambs" to get the real douchebags onside. Fear is an awesome motivator and causes lovely attention focus. The best way to avoid going "over the line" is to not go anywhere near it. If you don't know where it is, distance is your only safe choice.

The Most Disturbing Painting

newtboy says...

The painting of the hunt from the movie Cabin in the Woods, a gory scene of dogs and hunters tearing apart a lamb that covered the two way mirror in the bedrooms.
Google "painting from cabin in the woods movie"....I'm not sure it's actually named.

Seeing it again, it's not as gruesome as I remembered it, but still disturbing.

Edit: also good, the ship in a storm and other dark paintings from 1408

Thanks for the promote. Do you have a link to the painting? (Googling "The Hunt from Cabin in the Woods" just gives me images of cabins in the woods!)
