Godless – The Truth Beyond Belief

eric3579 says...

Although i don't think sinning has anything to do with getting into heaven. Ive always been under the impression it has to do with believing in god/christ.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

It's kind of a sweet deal You can be a total dick hole and still be part of the gang. How very convenient.

bill burr reviews the movie-the orphan

coolhund says...

Some movies just need you to not be 100% logical. Actually a lot.
Ive seen it and it was actually pretty good. Reminded me of similar movies from the 80s and they did well implementing that into a modern movie.

But I guess if you live in a world where so called peace loving people (actually nobel peace prize winners) start wars, break international laws, support terrorists, blame other parties that werent even involved until the end for the whole war and who are just trying to defend a sovereign country, and then bring those people, they brought war to, into their own countries out of "humanitarianism", then a movie like this just cant make sense at all.

I heard what the twist of the movie was and refused to watch it because of its stupidity.
Same happened with 'Lucy' where the premise was too stupid to endure the film.

Could Chris Christie be behind the DNC hacks?

bobknight33 says...

Craig Murray, Britain’s former ambassador to Russia and a close friend of Julian Assange, has now confirmed that he knows the identity of the person who leaked the DNC and Podesta leaks to Wikileaks, and that this person is not Russian and has no connection to the Russian government.

On the contrary, he is a Washington insider.

Craig Murray has moreover told the Guardian that he has actually met with this person.

Anyone wanting to know more of what Craig Murray is saying should read his statement on his blog. Indeed it should be mandatory reading for anyone interested in the truth of this affair.

My Post-Election Thoughts

eric3579 says...

These comments are hardly written as if they are your "opinion".

"Cant take him seriously anyone since I realized he deletes comments that use facts to disprove him or expose his hypocrisy."

and

"Too many cases to list. I was actually a fan of him once, but then, after a few cases, realized he only takes sources that fit his agenda and does never look at the other side of the coin. He ignores other sources and facts completely. And if you dare to bring that up, or even ask why, your comment gets deleted. Politics, science, demographics, history, etc. Hes cherry picking and think people dont check for themselves."

I would be totally interested (and why I'd like you to bother) to know if he is being deceitful as ive never heard this about him. If you are going to make accusations like these you should probably show us what you know (evidence). Don't you think?

coolhund said:

I didnt write that comment to prove it to anyone. I just said my opinion. Some people wont even agree when they see the facts, since they are just like him, so why bother.

Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health

eric3579 says...

And here is the problem in discussions like this. How we define words like rarity, moderation and negligible. The problem i see with this discussion is it seems like its more about winning than understanding. I think we can all agree on whats generaly healthy.

@transmorpher the issue i have is that you have shown yourself to be anti animal product NOT for health reasons necessarily although you are touting that, but for moral reasons. Its hard to buy into your sincerity regarding health when you feel consuming animal products is morally problematic.

And i believe that basing your diet on being plant based (fruits, veg, beans, nuts, very limited processed foods and animal products if any) is by far the best way to go for general health.

This is just my belief based on what ive read and my personal experience that left me in awe of how a healthy diet could make such a difference in my life physically and mentally. You think you know whats up, but then you realize you had no idea after you actually do it. This is my experience with diet.

transmorpher said:

I wouldn't consider once a week as moderation. I'd consider that rarely.

I also don't admit that there's no risk. There's a negligible risk, which is different.

Why you shouldn’t drive slowly in the left lane

jmd says...

Im never in a rush so I am usually at the speed limit or a little above if the right lane is very congested. Keep in mind im in fl, so the speed limit is 70.

Slow drivers in the left on i95 isn't usually a problem, what is usually the problem is 1) people who pass but DON'T move to the center lane for people going faster behind them, and 2) impatient fucks who won't let you get more then a cars length in front of the person on the right and will proceed to cut THEM off to pass YOU on the right side.

You have no idea how many times ive had to be the car that plugs up the right lane when a truck has needed to move left and cant move right again because everyone proceeds to pass it on the right.

As much as this video has merit, it doesn't cover that many if not most drivers are shit drivers.

Russia's Doing A Superhero Movie - Guardians (trailer)

eric3579 says...

It's B movieish but can it be much worse than the shit Hollywood usually puts out when it comes to most superhero flicks. I say give it a chance at least With all the talent and money Hollywood has they sure have a hard time making a superhero flick that's not a pile of shit imo. Of course there are some exceptions.

Trippy the comment has been removed. That's really weird. It was actually longer but i edited down to this one sentence. Must have been done by siftbot, but no clue why and ive never seen it done before. Very odd.

Also i asked lucky to double check siftbots auto spammer as i cant figure out for the life of me why siftbot spammered him.

Im highly skeptical of auto siftbots ability to figure shit out.

Paternoster, the Collapsible Elevator

eric3579 says...

I think you just answered a question ive had for around twenty five years. I could never recall the parking garage in the city where i parked and rode an elevator like this. Now im gonna be curious why i had parked there. Maybe a day of clothes shopping considering the location. Back when i was fancy that way

SFOGuy said:

There remains something very like this in a parking garage in San Francisco; 450 Sutter parking garage; EXCLUSIVELY for use by the valet staff now. Terrifying lol.
Dunno how it gets an OSHA exemption.

Paternoster, the Collapsible Elevator

vil says...

Why would getting on and off a paternoster be different from stepping onto a normal moving staircase (escalator)? Its just one step.

As for "I can easily imagine severed limbs" or "slow moving guillotine" web articles - I have never seen severed limbs or heads anywhere near a paternoster. Difficult to compare but I would expect accidents to be similar to escalator accidents (which can be pretty bad, Ive had one myself).

In any case paternosters are just as popular (though rare) all over central (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria) northern (Sweden, Finland), part of western Europe (Germany, England, Denmark, Netherlands), and even as far as the Austrian Empire extended southward into the Balkans (Beograd).

Will Smith slams Trump

eric3579 says...

I can't speak to the majority of Muslims beliefs(as ive know only a handful in my life), but my experience with your average christian (someone who says they believe in a christian god) is that they are NOT okay with the things you have listed. This of course is just what i think based on limited real world interactions.

newtboy said:

To be fair....

The majority of the christian world believes in a bunch of stuff I hope you and I do not. The majority of the christian world thinks clinic bombing may not be a bad thing. The majority of christians believe the penalty for apostasy should be death, just as the bible clearly and unambiguously prescribes. The majority of the Christian world thinks the entire world will/should be christian. Let's not kid ourselves.

Father of Fallen Muslim Soldier's Powerful Speech at the DNC

SFOGuy says...

I don't know if this link will open---
This is Donald's reply:

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trump-father-fallen-soldier-ive-made-lot/story?id=41015051

In his first response to a searing charge from bereaved Army father Khizr Khan that he’d “sacrificed nothing” for his country, Donald Trump claimed that he had in fact sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” He also suggested that Khan’s wife didn’t speak because she was forbidden to as a Muslim and questioned whether Khan’s words were his own.

“Who wrote that? Did Hillary's script writers write it?” Trump said in an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. “I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard.”

Epic Rap Battles of History: James Bond vs Austin Powers

eric3579 says...

I defer to your opinion as i'm only assessing, who bond is, from my childhood viewing of 007 films. Not at all from Flemings books which ive never read.

Also my favorite "Bond' film may be 1967 Casino Royale. That film was a hoot Although nothing like your typical Bond film. http://videosift.com/video/Best-Bond-film-ever-1967-Casino-Royale-trailer
I did however see 'The spy who loved me' about ten times, when it came out.

ChaosEngine said:

Roger Moore? Controversial!

Personally, I think Dalton or Craig are closest to Flemings Bond, but Connery's movies were the best.

Craig got off to an excellent start with Casino Royale, but the others have been fairly average.

The best Bond movies ever, though, are the first three Bourne movies
