High School Senior Takes Book Banners To School

luxintenebris jokingly says...

THE FITNESS OF THE ARGUMENT
sure it's up to the public to scan each and every book to insure that kids aren't exposed to harmful material. gee if only there was a way to hire someone professional to do this.

- most librarians are parents themselves. can 'we' trust they know their business? after all, THEY went to school to EDUCATE themselves to KNOW the difference.

WHAT INDOCTRINATION IS:
- can there be a better example of who are the baddies in this regard? book banning is akin to book burning. i.e. the milieu of Adolph, Mao, and the 'Kim' family...so*through clenched teeth* what the f*ck do think 'indoctrination' IS?!!! the r e m o v a l of books is the attempt of controlling minds NOT KEEPING VERY GOD DAMN BOOK ON THE SHELF!!! note the examples.

WHY IT'S FEEBLE EXCUSE
most parents haven't fallen for this tactic 'cause they know it's more of an attempt to divide than a drive of the divine. this ruse tried to get a foothold here but ran into a brilliant educational administration. they sent out flyers for parents to sign so THEIR kid(s) could access the school library at will. OTHERWISE the god-gifted had to preapprove any book for THEIR children. (Imagine it was a lot of paperwork [& actually parenting] for them. heh-heh)

FINAL MIC DROP

THEN

tell me about your fears of INDOCTRINATION.

Hello! Please regard this as a passionate plead for understanding & less of a personal attack. Can't help the *tartness* - as your belief is more awful than my tone. & don't know everything, but obviously more than thou when it comes to this subject.

EMTs charged with murder

robdot says...

I think what happened here is this. They have been here before. Many times. They know he doesn’t have insurance or money and no one’s going to get paid. They are annoyed and have intention of giving any care.

I have never seen anyone placed facedown on a cot for any reason. He does that out of spite because he’s tired of this guy.

It may also be they think he’s faking, and drug seeking. Which is also very common.

Police Cuff Woman On Tracks And Abandon Her- Hit By A Train

visionep says...

That's your tax dollars at work. To pay for the cops, their emotional care after the incident and the multimillion dollar payout to the lady who will probably live with a painful body for the rest of her life.

Police should all carry their own insurance to pay for this stuff. If they don't make enough money to cover the insurance then they can't be hired.

Seems like a logical fair market solution to this type of idiocy.

Why Geography Makes The US Insanely OP

newtboy says...

More Right wingers go to congress as millionaires, spending their money to get the job than leftists. Trump is a prime example of spending millions intending to abuse his presidential power for personal familial gains in the billions….then repaying himself with campaign donor’s money. Also, it’s the right that refuses to consider campaign finance reform and consistently fights for more big money in politics. The left tries to close corruption loopholes, like requiring complete divestment instead of fake “blind trusts” like Trump who had his son do his insider trading while joined at the hip and called that a blind trust. 🤦‍♂️

Trump is fascist, his politics fit the definition nearly perfectly….had the military abandoned their duties and followed him into despotism as he expected it would be perfect. (He was ever so pissed his generals didn’t follow him blindly like Hitler’s generals, because he’s so ignorant he doesn’t know Hitler’s generals tried repeatedly to assassinate Hitler)

Is this finally an admission it was Trumpists committing treason by trying to overthrow the government with a violent coup on Jan 6, not ANTIFA or BLM? How long will that last I wonder. You just admit(ed) that this is true.

Again, because you never remember, 1 million Americans needlessly died from a vacuum of leadership encouraging them to ignore all public health as a divisive political move, and the right would have doubled that number of dead given their druthers.
I would also remind you a huge portion of the arsons in 2020 at BLM rallies were right wing false flag operations trying to blame BLM for Trumpist’s crimes, exactly like you did with Jan 6.
https://www.wweek.com/news/courts/2020/10/07/white-people-make-up-90-of-arson-charges-and-75-of-property-damage-charges-stemming-from-portland-protest
s/

I would point out that one week of the Trucker blockades at the Canada border cost $360 million per day in lost production/undelivered goods alone, totaling over $2.5 billion in losses for the first week of that right wing nonsense that lasted weeks-months then traveled the nation disrupting business for almost a year. Jan 6 cost well over $500 million. All BLM damage (including the false flag damage) is ESTIMATED to eventually reach UP TO $2 billion in insurance CLAIMS, not actual losses and damage, not payouts.
Right wing riots are more costly by far, and the causes are ‘being viciously murdered by police’ on the left, and ‘having to wear a face mask’ on the right (often when there’s no mask mandate in place).

bobknight33 said:

Like I said all governments are corrupt, even ours. Democrats and Republicans are corrupt. Why would anyone spend millions just to get a 200K $ /yr job?

Trump is not Fascist, just has a large following.
Jan 6 was 1 day of that went sideways.

During Trump years the left burned looted killed many more. The Left are the dangerous side, inciting violence, anti free speech.

You just admit that this is true.

Beau schools on schooling: why 'FREE' scares Biff & Babs

spawnflagger says...

I think there should be free Community College for anyone that wants to go, but I also think college isn't for everyone, and Trade schools should also be free (I've seen plenty of plumbers that charge hourly rates more than lawyers).

As far as other colleges, there should be merit scholarships for anyone who does well at Community College can transfer to those for years 3 & 4.

I had a merit-based scholarship for my undergrad, but it was conditioned on maintaining a 3.0 GPA (B average or higher). If it went under 3.0 for two semesters, scholarship gone. Also required finishing in 4 years, so I had to take 15-18 credits every semester. I also worked part-time during semester and full-time in summers to pay down the loans (that the grants & scholarship didn't cover), so graduated debt free. I also can see I'm an exception rather than the norm.

I wouldn't begrudge anyone getting higher education. I also think some people who drop out when they are 18-22 years old, could go instead when they are older and more mature and totally succeed, so don't force it immediately after high school. Part of that is pressure from being allowed on your parents health insurance if you're in school up to a certain age... universal health care coverage (public option) would fix that and should be a higher priority than universal college. I voted for Bernie.

You are absolutely incorrect. Typical right deflections.

I absolutely want to address this issue. Modification of the 2nd amendment to regulate, license, train, insure and track all weapons purchased, regularly. There are other great options out there. Many other countries do the same - that contributes to a well-regulated militia!

And it's "souls" by the way. Get educated!

Smoke Shop Robbery, Las Vegas - Robber Stabbed

newtboy says...

There was more than enough time to bleed through from 7 stab wounds before he dumped him on the floor, imo. I was shocked the store owner wasn’t drenched in blood by then, but I see none at all. I just find that odd, I bleed like a water balloon if you stick me.
I also found it insane the thief didn’t seem to react to the first 4-5 stabs at all, he fought back like nothing happened at first, another reason I assumed they maybe didn’t penetrate. The last two sure did, but even the knife still looked clean coming out. WTF!? Super blood absorbing sweat shirt?

I think the owner, if charged, will go for a jury trial and be acquitted….or might take a no prison plea deal if it’s good enough. I can’t see getting a conviction in Nevada for this, unless he hires Amber Heard or Alex Jones’ lawyers. In Florida, he wouldn’t get a ticket. I doubt he’ll see jail, possibly a fine and huge civil suit. Hope he has good insurance.

Edit: I just found this piece about this robbery victim shooting a disarmed robber in the back, eventually killing him, who wasn’t charged. I think the smoke shop owner was more restrained and hope he isn’t charged either.

? Inviting him back in? What? When? They never left. I don’t think he’s claiming these were the same robbers that robbed him earlier that month, if that’s what you mean.

Edit: I do love the prominent cross on the one robber’s neck. This is what people mean when they say “I’m a Christian, I would never do something like that.”

BSR said:

I don't think the blood had time to penetrate the clothing he was wearing. I also believe each strike penetrated pretty well with the force he was using. I also think the owner is going to see some jail time.

The owner wanted the altercation by inviting the robber back into the store so he could get revenge.

Humble man claims police brutality during arrest ...

newtboy says...

You say that, but then you also always support those you admit are doing wrong and accuse those who aren’t of being evil.
For example-Republicans have been caught doing wrong in the 2020 election in dozens of schemes to defraud, not just the uncounted individual frauds. I am unaware of any Democrat schemes uncovered (baseless unfounded accusations from liars don’t count) or even individual cases of voter fraud by Democrats, yet you still insist “everyone knows Trump only lost because Democrats cheated”.
You say wrong is wrong, but you simply won’t see wrong from your cult…even when you admit it, you ignore it.

Edit: for example, you ignored the Trumpist who burnt his own home for insurance money, blaming the fire on BLM, ANTIFA, and Biden including spray painting his own home in their name before publicly accusing them and raising money from other morons based on the lie….and I’m certain you continue to lie to yourself and others claiming multiple cities were burnt to the ground by them in 2020 despite there likely being more prosecutions and convictions against right wing criminals who posed as BLM than actual BLM members, definitely more prosecutions of Trumpists for shooting police and setting off bombs and shooting crowds pretending to be BLM or ANTIFA than Liberals.

MI Senator tells the truth in the face of a hateful lie

newtboy says...

Just gonna leave this here for you….photos of Cawthorn partying in women’s lingerie…seems his cocaine fueled orgy with other Republicans (Gaetz) story may have legs (unlike him).
Also worth reminding you, he was never accepted at the Naval Academy, he had been rejected before his car accident. Worth noting because he has consistently given the impression that his car wreck halted his military career, it didn’t, even suing his friend (the driver) for $30 million over the lost military career but only getting their insurance company’s original pretrial offer of $3 million. During that trial he admitted being rejected by the naval academy well before the accident, and that he never had a military career or even the possibility of one.
He also flunked out of college after one semester, getting all D’s at best at the low ranked school designed for home schooled students (better than Boebert who flunked out of high school and hooked up with a pedophile), yet over 1/2 of the class signed a letter saying they witnessed him being a sexual predator in that one semester…

STUDY: $500 Per Month Life Changing For The Homeless

bcglorf says...

Yeah, the crutch of it for me is the UBI moniker.

What you describe at the end of your post, minimum income, is really just a rewording of the existing social security and welfare systems across the western world. I know they look different in each, but here in Canada what you describe is more or less our already existing system's design goal. Welfare money exists for those that straight up can not work, and an employment insurance system exists to protect those inbetween jobs, meanwhile other multiple programs are aimed at distributing financial assistance to the lower income groups.

Despite all of that already existing, UBI is still being heralded up here in trials as well as a replacement. The problem being that for the needy the UBI pitches are generally a step backwards.

Eg. $500/month is the UBI pitch, and they say it'll be great because everyone gets it no matter what so it's simple and fair and nobody is left behind. The trouble though is that the reality is the truly in need people were already benefitting more than the $500/month under the existing systems, and the cost was much less because it was targeted.

I here UBI and get very worried about folks just selling snake oil 'solutions' that in the end are just a demand to adopt their own particular flavor of wealth redistribution.

newtboy said:

Did they offer that in the program, or was it only random individuals….or are you extrapolating, assuming the program became universal? I thought this plan was just for the indigent.

$500 each for 4 works out to more than my wife brought home for 40 hours a week after 15 years at her last job…..barely livable for 4 anywhere in California, a nice income in some states. Not a huge amount to provide for 6 months. How much does temporary housing, services, extra law enforcement, etc cost over that time for 4 people? I assume their close.

Yes, universal income is costly, but most on the right won’t consider giving the destitute money if they don’t get a handout too, that likely multiplies the amount by over 10 times. With a means test, it would be billions, maybe under $100 billion. We spent nearly $6 trillion on bad Covid response in 2020, including trillions to corporate welfare handouts with no strings attached and they still fired millions of workers. I think if that’s ok we can afford to invest in making people productive again instead of drains on society (of course, not everyone will benefit, but 75% success must be a win overall). If not, socialize any corporation that took a bailout, we bought em, we should own them.

…Or taking on more debt like every government project, but the increase in gdp from turning costs into profits likely pays for the program without a dime in new taxes, just a reduction in costs of handling the homeless and new taxes from their incomes….especially if you have a means test and not universal income.

Yes, they convoluted by calling it universal income but focusing on homeless. It should be UMI. Universal Minimum Income….under employed get less than unemployed up to a certain minimum livable combined income, fully employed (with living wages) get nothing….IMO. Sadly, a large portion of people can’t see what’s in that plan for them (no homeless, less crime dumbshits) so won’t consider it unless they also get $500 even though that’s not even a noticeable amount to them….one more ivory backscratcher.

When you are finally comfortable in a relationship

StukaFox says...

Mate, if those two got any closer together, that LIGO would be detecting the birth of a new black hole somewhere in the Sol system.

I used to love Church: a dinner of Taco Bell burritos, a wooden pew, and the word of Christ. Clench, lean 15 degrees to the left, relax your sphincter and PUSH! The silence that is golden will last about 10 seconds before the retching and piling out the doors brings an end to today's sermon. That's when you snatch the collection plate and bolt out the back door.

I lost a major source of income when I became an atheist.

Did you know Taco Bell delivers? At least in Seattle they do. I have to wonder what life choices lead to the terminus of hauling two dollar food between source and the customer 25 miles away. Yeah, that $5 tip will more than pay for gas, upkeep, insurance and oil changes on that riced-out K car you've been driving since The Pet Shop Boys were still popular.

Also, "...blahblah whining and such..." -- look, if I want unfair criticism of a job well-done, I'll ask my clients to pay up. That's primo Gonzo humor you're tut-tutting and you paid exactly nothing to enjoy it. Y'know who else was a cheap ingrate? HITLER! Why ya gotta by like Hitler, Moonsammy -- IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME. I have my doubts on this topic, by the way.

Hey, what's Bob up to? I always enjoy a cheap laugh at the expense of the less fortunate.

I don't know why you felt the fart would be the prominent feature of the video. To me, the title only promised the sort of interaction which might feel mortifying in the early passions of young love, but seen within the context of a mature, stable relationship. It may not play well in Hollywood, or apparently Videosift (AHEM SIR), but it's the kind of deep, strong relationship to which we should all aspire.

(having said that, I too have tooted)
