Lucky Stuck Quad Rider At Hollister Hills OHV Park
I half-expected him or an accomplice to come and take the guy's bike while he was distracted trying to help or after he pulled himself out from under the thing.
Nice to see people with some humanity once in a while.
Dashcam Video of Chicago Law Enforcement Shooting Teen
Looks like he pulled a knife out when the cop or was he just fixing his pants and had it in his hands along?
If I'm not mistaken cops like to keep a safety zone of 21 feet of space. The kid clearly was within that zone.
As wrong as this is the kid should have complied.
Marvel's Jessica Jones - Official Trailer
For every white superhero, there is a black superhero; and for every 20 black and white superheroes, there is a single Asian S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and/or a Latino comic relief.
I'm kidding, I don't really give a shit -- but it's true.
One argument I've heard is that crime takes place in the inner cities, so of course there will be a larger portion of black heroes/villains.
Anyway, I've read 100s of Marvel comic books, including the Alias, Daredevil, Marvel Knights, and Defenders series (which ISN'T the Defenders we're going to be presented with on Netflix) so I'm definitely excited about seeing Jessica and Power Man.
But more importantly, the Purple Man (Zebediah Killgrave) is a key villain to know and fear. He pulls a lot of the conspiratorial strings of the Marvel universe on earth to come.
this is what being caught in a lie looks like
Yes, that's true, but is one exempt from that if one is PART of congress? I hope not, but perhaps.
As I saw it, when he said HE pulled the chart directly from planned parenthood's corporate records, that was testimony being offered to the other members of congress in the hearing, not a question, and it was clearly, intentionally, blatantly false testimony at that.
He said HE pulled the information and created the chart...which was an obvious and bold faced lie, it was not a mistake, not a misunderstanding, it was a lie. Unfortunately, I'm also fairly certain absolutely zero will come of it.
It's only a felony to lie TO Congress...
The Card Conjuror
That was damn fine. I have no idea how he pulled 99% of that off. The only thing I got was, he hooked a string to the cards and pulled them up. =)
Is Climate Change Just A Lot Of Hot Air?
@newtboy,
as the ice on land disappears, it exposes permafrost that, as it melts, also emits methane.
More from charliem's article's abstract:
Arctic tundra soils serve as potentially important but poorly understood sinks of atmospheric methane (CH4), a powerful greenhouse gas1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Numerical simulations project a net increase in methane consumption in soils in high northern latitudes as a consequence of warming in the past few decades3, 6. Advances have been made in quantifying hotspots of methane emissions in Arctic wetlands7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, but the drivers, magnitude, timing and location of methane consumption rates in High Arctic ecosystems are unclear.
The article he linked IS saying that they've identified regions up north where the soil absorbs more methane the warmer it gets. They note this is a relatively unknown area as opposed to northern regions that emit methane. Charliem just didn't read the reference he pulled out at is it is counter evidence to his and your own statements.
As for your point:
As for your misunderstanding of CO2, removing all CO2 production tomorrow
I never said anything about that, I said:
if we could magically remove all the CO2 we've added to the atmosphere
As in I was talking about not merely ending our emissions, but also sequestering and pulling out of the atmosphere all the CO2 lingering there from us over the last century as well. That's pushing CO2 concentrations back down from nearly 400 to under 300. Re-read my statements in the correct context and they'll make more sense.
As for people "thriving", that's just ridiculous. There's been a food shortage world wide for quite some time now.
Again, context matters doesn't it? I'm describing how a person from 1915 would not look at our world today and wish they could go back to their time, end all CO2 emissions and avoid the catastrophic consequences we're suffering in 2015. If you want to talk about food distribution, your right and we've had problems with it forever. If you want to talk food production though, it's never been higher, if you go look at global agriculture output it's a steady increasing line as surely as the instrumental temperature record.
For the record, I absolutely state that the evidence throughout the entire instrumental record is a warming planet since records began in 1900. I absolutely state that the evidence is irrefutable that CO2 contributes to warming. I absolutely state the the evidence is irrefutable that we are raising global CO2 concentrations with our actions. Where I diverge from those like you is I do NOT see the scientific evidence declaring the results are catastrophic. It's simply not there to be found, in many cases it is in fact contrary to the limited evidence we DO have on it as well.
police detaining a person for no reason
Lantern says...
"My buddy Fred pulled over a car with 4 people in it, every one was wanted!
ah the good old days
As far as what he pulled her over for...
you don't have to tell the truth on that one.
I once had a guy wanted on a felony drug offense, I told him I was arresting him for a parking violation.
Once I had the cuffs on him, I told him what it was for.."
It's called evidence, Lantern.
You know, that stuff you're supposed to collect before you accuse someone.
Like evidence of a "Law Enforcement Officer" - YOU - gloating and laughing about how you DON'T HAVE TO TELL THE TRUTH when detaining someone.
You're chuckling & reminiscing about the "good old days" when you got to lie in order to facilitate an arrest!!
OMFG you're a joke.
Your own personal anecdotes illustrate that..
police lie whenever the fuck they feel like they need to.
Why would I, @newtboy, or ANYONE EVER trust a cop?! O_o?!
damn newtboy, paranoid much?
Claimed Police Brutality - What is your take?
My buddy Fred pulled over a car with 4 people in it, every one was wanted!
no shit
ah the good old days
(sorry, couldn't watch the whole thing with that howling going on)
As far as what he pulled her over for...you don't have to tell the truth on that one. I once had a guy wanted on a felony drug offense, I told him I was arresting him for a parking violation. Once I had the cuffs on him, I told him what it was for...that way he's more likely to not resist since he thinks it's for something minor...safer for both of us, win-win!
Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello - The Ghost of Tom Joad
Men walkin' 'long the railroad tracks
Goin' someplace there's no goin' back
Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the ridge
Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge
Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars in the Southwest
No home no job no peace no rest
The highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad
He pulls a prayer book out of his sleeping bag
Preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag
Waitin' for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last
In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass
Got a one-way ticket to the promised land
You got a hole in your belly and gun in your hand
Sleeping on a pillow of solid rock
Bathin' in the city aqueduct
The highway is alive tonight
Where it's headed everybody knows
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Waitin' on the ghost of Tom Joad
Now Tom said "Mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy
Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries
Where there's a fight 'gainst the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me Mom I'll be there
Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand
Or decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free
Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me."
Well the highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
With the ghost of old Tom Joad
Cop Kills Mexican For Slowly Shuffling In His Direction
point 1: addressed above.
Point 2: Yes, there are far more clear videos of bad cop behavior, this one is less clear. That said, this one has sparked the Mexican government to petition ours to change the way our officers act. That's a big deal.
Point3: you are correct, he can't tell for certain that the suspect is unarmed, but can tell for certain he has no arm in his hands, and he never sees anything (even a bulge) that might be an arm. Assuming he's armed is somewhat reasonable, but I want them to actually SEE a weapon before acting as if they're threatened with one.
Point 4: Yes, the guy was an idiot criminal that nearly killed himself and others by drunk driving and speeding. Had he caused an accident, that would be 100% his fault...but that's not what happened. He did give the officer an opportunity to see him as threatening and shoot....opportunity is not a need.
Again, I only want to see officers TRY to not use deadly force...and that means TRYING other things first...and not just commands, actions. I n this case, walking backwards for 20 seconds may well have de-escalated the entire situation and we would never know this stop happened.
If the man had started to run...shoot. If he pulls out a weapon...shoot. If he shuffles at you slowly with hands on head...back up. That's my entire point right there....one I derived in part from the position of the Mexican government, not just out of my ass.
lucky is right, there's a lot of context missing in your statement here. Nothing about the situation in the video is even remotely the same as someone just walking past an officer. Come on, you can't seriously think this.
There are plenty of videos out there showing cops doing horrific things to suspects that are disgusting and utterly barbaric and wrong. This just isn't one of those videos.
This video is a record of a very unfortunate event where a drunk guy did something very, very stupid and paid for it with his life but blaming the cop in this situation is just not fair.
We now know the guy was unarmed, but I don't see from the video how the cop was supposed to know that. It's very easy to say he shot an unarmed man, but until the cop can search him he's got to assume for his own safety that the guy is armed. Can you show me where in the video this search takes place?
The video is bad, but not the cop's fault. Alcohol makes people do stupid things, and if this guy had swerved into oncoming traffic and killed himself that way instead we'd be saying how people shouldn't drink and drive, but none of us would be saying it wasn't his fault.
Tire Runs A Red Light And Gets Pulled Over
Why the hell does he move out of the way of the tyre?
He's stationary, but he pulls out into the intersection to let the rolling tyre past potentially causing an accident.
Ambulance Brake Pedal
He pulled up on the brake pedal, if it was warped disks he'd have to push down on it to get that effect.
Mm, extremely warped disks?
Red Neck trucker says NO to this blonde trying to merge...
Huh...the car actually slams into him on purpose to avoid rear-ending the other semi...that is humorous because it was 100% intentional. You see the car jerk, and I watched it multiple times to see if he hit something beforehand that would cause it to swerve and no, it did not...that is one hell of a felony.
Just because he lost the fight he pulled that bullshit? Whoa, I would have hated to see some kid's brains splattered on the street because someone purposely rammed another vehicle while being a dick...might have been road rage or w/e...
As far as the gap closing, yeah, it is pretty obvious the trucker doesn't want the car to cut in front of him when it isn't legal or right for that to happen. The trucker has this right because it is this forced-tailgating when people merge that causes accidents. HE OBVIOUSLY MAKES AN EDUCATED GUESS THAT THE DUMB BITCH WON'T RAM HIM, but he is proven wrong.
TLDR, but I'm on board with @newtboy. The trucker really seems to be intentionally closing the gap only after the VW starts to enter the lane (I'd assume to teach "this blonde" a lesson). Before then he is maintaining a steady distance from the Nissan.
Also, really interesting sight at 0:30 to 0:33 is you can see that only the front tires on the other truck have completely stopped spinning but continue travelling forward as if they're still turning.
The seatbelt light is ON...
This video has been discussed on several pilot forums. People have pointed out that this also looks like a failed go-around without adding appropriate power. If the pilot was near stall when he pulled up, and the left wing stalled first, this is exactly what would happen. Very scary if that much turbulence can stick around for that long after a Blackhawk has departed.
You should learn a little respect... Officer says
Well, I appreciate the thought, even if you didn't follow through.
No, perhaps there's the misunderstanding. He did not FLEE as I see it. The officer pulled up behind him, he pulled away. He was not being stopped, no flashing lights on, no loudspeaker telling him to pull over or stay there, only a spot light. That is not an indicator that you must stop, or even an indicator that it's a cop, so there was nothing to flee from. In fact, as I see it, it's the prudent, intelligent thing to do if you are on the side of the road, alone, in the dark and a strange car pulls up behind you and shines a light at you. Drive away, don't wait to be carjacked. When the flashing lights came on, he pulled over right away, did not flee.
No this is not abuse or misconduct. It is a cop being rude because a citizen asserted his rights, calmly and respectfully in my eyes. It also seems to be a cop being angry someone didn't 'respect his authoritah' by waiting to see what he might want, but he could have been far worse about it.
Not all cop videos must be either of abusive misconduct or PR videos of them being nice.
When I'm stopped, I do the same thing, refuse to answer questions, but I realize the cops are humans and I calmly and clearly explain that I can't answer their questions without a lawyer present, nor will I without blanket immunity in writing from the DA. Then I produce ID (if asked) and sit quietly with my hands in view. I've never had a problem, when it's explained the cops always understand (even if they don't like it).
EDIT: I hope you will go back and re-read my first reply to your comment. It was not condescending in the least, IMO. I don't know at all what you mean. Sincerely.
I originally came back to this thread to apologize to you for being so harsh last night, but reading your response I just have to say...
The fucking guy FLED after the cop pulled up to help. What part of that do you not understand? YOU are the one having a problem with logic and reason and maybe just a basic understanding of reality.
There is no shortage of actual police abuse/misconduct videos out there! This is not one of them!
On a side note, you might think of yourself as being polite and reasonable but you have been condescending from the get go. And that's fucking funny to me. Good luck fighting with cops on the side of the road.
