What about me, aren't I also brave for taking on these fanatical zealots?!

Awful lot of hospitals named after saints, as well as a large number of schools. Religion teaches empathy for other people, it teaches right behavior, it teaches the ten commandments, it teaches the golden rule.
Just because people fail to follow those ideas wholly you condemn everyone who believes in any of it.
To replace it you bring in some philosophical sophistry that has nothing to back it up unless it is to say that there is a spark of Godliness behind it all.
It is good that we can agree that people have an innate sense toward empathy but it's an empty box.
All you have to say is that psychotics are restrained by religion, ipso facto, anyone who believes in God is a psychotic.
I don't know too many psychotics who open hospitals, care for the sick/infirm/dying, educate the masses.

Proving atheists believe in nothing, therefore they will believe anything. How does one atheist convince another atheist of their believe system? Wouldn't that take a lot of faith? And if it's science, wouldn't that take faith in science, which has proven to be incomplete since day one?
But i'll sit down, since the atheists are talking. Popcorn, please.

I think I just did get visited by the Krampus.
Yes. Many before and after you did...you simply didn't look or ignored the entire thread you just craped on.
Can you see a nice, happy, non offensive Christmas thread and NOT be a douche bag and shit on it for no reason?
No.
I hope the Krampus makes a special trip back to your home tonight!

I guess a person can go through life blaming cops for everything. Nothing I can do about it. Kind of pathetic, though.
Yeah, as if YOU'VE reviewed 'all the evidence'. You didn't even know there were 40 witnesses, but had already discounted most of them.
I'm not at all worried about meeting your criteria for a discussion, because you never will.
I guess discussion over....except to say....
we see your true colors, shining through.....

When you have reviewed all of the evidence, get back to me.
No I have not, which is why I don't make definitive statements like 'the credible evidence supports the officer's version', especially when a simple pre-cursory examination of the publicly available evidence shows that the one defense 'witness' (besides the defendant) was (reportedly) a liar and a well known racist that claimed to be 'hanging out in the ghetto to learn how to not say N**ger', and she didn't come forward until 2 weeks after the officer's version was publicized.
Instead I preface my statements with 'it has been reported' and similar qualifiers. You do not qualify your assertions, which is why I often contradict you.

So you have reviewed all of the evidence in this case?
Ahhh. So once again you've been making definitive statements about the witnesses and evidence, but you really have no idea about either?!?! Why am I not surprised.
Reports say there were 2 defense witnesses, the officer himself, and the racist woman who was there in the ghetto to 'learn about blacks so she could stop calling them N**ger' (WTF?!?) that came forward a month later, long after the officer's version was public. (Another WTF?!?)
The other 38 are the 'non-credible' witnesses interviewed at the scene that should be discounted because they all said he was surrendering.

That's a long jump to conclusion to say that he flubbed it intentionally. That's just what you want to believe.
There are many other sources with this story if you care to look.
Explain how, or who would 'dispute' this (and what good it would do). Once the DA threw the case, it's over for the state. We only get one shot, and he flubbed it intentionally.
The best we can hope for is his disbarment, and perhaps a federal case, but not for murder or manslaughter.

Mordhaus, we are on the same page.
A lot of what I write is intended for those who just read but don't comment. I am trying to reach those who would like an insight. Many here have come to their own immovable attitude.

Enoch, I agree with you 100%.
In my defense, I am not defending bad behavior or bad cops. They make the rest of us (the majority) look bad.
All I'm trying to do is bring some light to the subject. I have inside knowledge of how things are. There is another side to every story, which is one of the first thing a cop learns.
But there are a lot of rabid cop-haters out there (or gathered together in a cave and surfing videosift) who will never accept anything I say or try to see it from another perspective.
Bad cops are the exception, not the rule, which is my focus in these discussions.
When I say that courts have ruled that cops can lie, it doesn't mean cops go around lying to everyone. It means that during an investigation or investigative stop, you can bluff someone to reveal criminal behavior. The courts will certainly let you know that lying in court will result in your termination, the loss of your pension, your whole career.
I agree with you that cops should be held to a higher standard. I don't like fat cops, rude cops, aggressive cops. My favorite co-workers are those with a good sense of humor, self-deprecation and a common-sense perspective.
But whenever I make a comment on here, people just weave these incredible fabrications of corruption and accusation...eventually I think, fuck it, what a waste of time.
Then I take a break and I try it again. What a fool I am!

happy?
You guys have a chip on your shoulder against authority and nothing I can say will change that.
Your cup is full.
meanwhile, I'll be over here doing my job.

The courts have ruled that police officers can bluff. You can call it lying. Ever play poker?

Damn those courts again, right?
