We all get the duality of this. I had a bad feeling, but then an even worse feeling kicked in... I should do a cost-benefit analysis. I already hate myself for sinking into management-speak. But...

Guy on phone: only obvious benefit is lording this over his bully. It feels really good, especially when broadcast. Maybe some residual guilt. Got to take into account that, whatever his original intention, his reaction was from the gut.

Bully: unknown. Depends on what kind of person he is now, years after. Probably angry. Possibly feels bad about what just happened to his mother.

Mother: no benefit. Probably feels raped. Possibly was raped, depending on your definition. Possible shame over what her son did. Comment of "you probably deserved it" could be genuine, or could be severe defensiveness.

Radio station:
OK, I can't be objective here. It's possibly mostly live, they maybe feel an obligation to entertain, they have little control, but fuck those guys. I just hope they apologised afterwards.

Personal analysis: doing the deed isn't cool, given the innocent victim. Laughing about it on the air is understandable, but fucked up. Broadcasting it, laughing, and celebrating the outcome - whoever you are - is disgusting.

Here's the Conservative logic:

You a rich guy who's fucking over your workers by not paying them a living wage? Have a tax break, oh and thanks for the campaign contributions we'll find more tax breaks for you.
Oh look, those workers you aren't paying a living wage to need food stamps, let's cut food stamp funding then we'll be able to give you rich people more tax breaks.
Oh, you are moving those jobs overseas so you can keep more of the profits for yourself? Great idea, more money for you. We'll blame those jobs going overseas on the government and everyone will believe it and not blame the rich guy who moved the job overseas because being rich is good (despite what Jesus whom we pretend to like said) and government is bad.
We'll have the churches turn their backs against the teachings of Jesus and convince millions of Americans that Jesus meant the opposite and they'll vote for us thinking they are doing the Christian thing. Sure one or two people will lose faith and hate Christians [your's truly included, even if He is real, I'd rather be in Hell than be around Him or His people] because of it, but most of the faithful have been taught to accept anything the church says, so they'll all go along with the plan to fuck over the working class so that you rich people can have your great life.
We'll keep building more and more prisons, we'll turn them into profit making centers and incarcerate more people than any other nation for the good of corporate profit.
Let's make a pipeline filled with highly pollutive tar sands that will create 35 permanent full time jobs so that we can export a great deal of that oil. We'll tell people it's about "energy independence"and about all the jobs it'll create for the couple years of it's construction. We'll ignore the fact that upgrading our nations infrastructure would create far more jobs not only in the long term, but significantly more jobs in the short term as well., and that's just upgrading our electrical grid, not counting upgrading our freeways, bridges, dams, railways and the like.
Let's make more and more war, because war profits off killing a bunch of what we'll sell as savages is really good money for the rich.

Both sides have good and bad... well the left have good and bad. The right has people brainwashed into thinking they are doing good and the Lord's work...even though it's 100% opposite of what He taught... I hate myself for having ever voted and arguing for Conservative or even Libertarian "logic".

I hate myself for this, but.... the scientist/engineer in me has to complain a bit about the central idea in the plot (I'm pretty sure the plane engines would use more water than you could possibly recover and I don't think any magic gas would make a cloud go bigger). Sorry, I literally had to say that.

Now, that's out of the way, I pretty much love the rest of it.

It's beautifully animated and I love the bits of world building like the submarine. The rendering of the rain starting to fall was particularly impressive.

I'd LIKE to be where Shang is psycologically (spelling) but having been raised IN the city I would have to be taught from day one. So I go get styrofoam packed meat and hate myself for the tasty steak that had a HORRIBLE life compared to ANY of the game that Shang has harvested.

edit: oh and I LOVE to be in Nature. I bring my dogs on a 3 hour backwoods hike (with rattlesnakes and bears) and love to see nature frolick but at the end of the day I like to grill up some meat, maybe a potatoe and throw some lettuce on the plate and bam...dinner.

I admire his commitment. Being gifted is one thing, but I think the bigger part is that he clearly wants to understand other cultures by way of learning their language.

At times I've chosen to just take all sorts of abuse from cops. Other times I've resisted the abuse, and the cops have made it worse. I hate myself when I just take the abuse, and I am bitter and resentful towards the cops and my government when I suffer the "worse". I prefer the latter feeling, so fuck those cops. Abusive cops are on a list with child sex abusers of people who do incredible damage and should be eliminated from society. The good news about cops is that their fuckeheadedness is institutional, so that can technically be changed without killing. Society is becoming more and more aware of civil rights due to Facebook and the like, so I don't think bad cops are going to be as prominent in the near future.

I had an incredible encounter with a perfect cop last night, for instance. I was taking part in a civil disobedience protest screwing up traffic downtown, and when the cops were finally able to get through, the supervisor just came up and chilled with us a bit, asked us what was going on, what we were protesting, started helping us out, and then really politely asked some of us if we could do it a little bit differently. We were mostly happy about his respectful stance and complied. It was fantastic. Hopefully this kind of behaviour will become the norm.

Hells yeah! This year, my birthday was literally xmas in august. Cooked a massive turkey and ham, had a load of friends over, opened some really good wine and had a blast. (I should mention that it was winter here in the southern hemisphere).

I think birthdays are a damn fine idea. Personally, I can't abide the idea of not celebrating 'cos you're afraid of getting older. I say embrace your inner old man/woman. My beard is actually starting to go grey and the other day I literally told some kids to get off my lawn*, and it was awesome.

But even more important than my birthday, are other peoples birthdays. It's an opportunity to do something awesome for your spouse, family, friends, etc.

*They were kinda confused since they were in my driveway, but you gotta work with what you're given.
