"A Fourth Car Absolutely Buggered!" - Deadly Mexican Street

luxintenebris says...

Lived near an intersection where one got used to hearing auto crashes. Whenever it sounded like someone dropping a refrigerator off the back of a truck - it was time to call 911.

Know of a house in CA that was hit 7 or 8 times because of the road design. Took years for homeowners to get the officials to improve it.

it'd be the home to the right of the 'turnaround' area behind the rock (which might have been the homeowners' first solution to the problem - a few deaths just might get officials to take it seriously). Also if you zoom in on the north side of the house, there is a patio doorway. That's the area where it got hit last. Maybe it was easier than fixing the wall?

the high traffic street use to just slope off into a residential street. some folks didn't know the road ended despite some signage. most just travel not knowing it ended couldn't stop in time or missed the turn at high speed.

But I now see I misread, it was in a MexicAN city, ciudad Juarez, not Mexico City. In my defense, it came up googling “ mexico city record low temperature”, but I should have read more carefully.

Ice will be extremely rare, agreed, but not unheard of. I’d be more afraid of oil….even just a tiny bit of water makes me say “nope” and I extreme off-roaded and desert raced in the past.

Wikipedia says the record low is 24F, which is admittedly below freezing. I am skeptical of the 9F figure, where did you see it?

Tom Scott trying to deal with his phobia of roller coasters

surfingyt says...

yeah people still occasionally die on them even nowadays. According to the googles its about 4/year. So you can still confidently ride knowing you're (very very very...) unlikely to die.

newtboy said:

They told me the same thing in the 70’s so I gritted my teeth and rode the Texas Cyclone in Astroworld, a huge wood roller coaster, and the very next day someone died falling off the same coaster.
Soon after they replaced the automotive seat belts with a lap bar.

President Biden responses beautifully

The answer was about Musk’s comment in regards to his assessment of the US economy contrasted by the numerous similar companies taking a completely opposite position and investing rather than downsizing. Too difficult a concept without pictures?

Maybe google WHEN he had those aneurysms…he’s proven himself quite capable and thoroughly unimpaired in the 34 years since he was successfully treated. Derp. Who’s the moron again?

Are you unaware of the stupid hateful far right tribal bs infiltrating Europe and elsewhere? It’s not an American monopoly.

Anom212325 said:

The question was about musk's comment in regards to the US economy... Not about one of musk's companies.

is that a reference to the previous senile president you morons chose ?

Google how many brain aneurysms Biden had and while you are at it look at videos of him before and after. You Americans have been choosing one dumb fuck after another screwing over the world thanks to your stupid tribal bs hate for each other.

that's funny.

believing a President's job is talking about a 'failing' economy.

if he said, "believe me...the best market like you've never seen before" would the diapers be any fuller?

dumb is talking against a concern. and dumb doesn't hold to an age.

100 Days Building A Modern Underground Hut With A Grass Roof

Don't be so sure. Due to the incredible amounts of views/money these videos generate, I had/have always been skeptical of the legitimacy of them. The below video had exposed at least one of these channels builds https://youtu.be/YCyLWhPnq1M

(edit) a quick google estimated $3000-5000 for a million views. This video at 114 million views would come in at between $340,000-570,000. Seems like it would be a lucrative business to be in.

$3.3 trillion collected in 2018, so well under 20% of taxes, and they made over 20% of gdp and control over 35% of all wealth/assets according to google.

In that 40 years, over $50 TRILLION has been transferred from the bottom 90% to the top 1%.

That equates to a person who now earns $35k earning $61k EVERY YEAR SINCE 75 (an extra $26k per year) had wealth inequality remained at levels we saw after ww2 until the mid 70’s…college educated professionals who make $70k are handing billionaires an average of $56k every year in lost earnings.

luxintenebris said:

just a thought...$616 billion is what percentage of the amount taxed?

40 years ago the rate was higher. now it's much lower. could the amount be so large that a slight slice of that pie topples the amount collected in decades passed?

Will Smith smacks Chris Rock on stage at Oscars Uncensored

BSR says...

I doubt Chris will press charges. I think Will will apologize and realize he was a showoff bully asshole and carry the guilt with him and regret his actions.

If not, he is a good actor and can fake it. Or maybe he watched Bill Maher's latest show and thought he was being the man's man and defending his woman.

What I do know is that he made the Oscars all about him. He stole the show.

Now... if you don't mind, I'm going to Google Bald Jokes.

Tesla’s TOTAL DOMINATION (new data)

bobknight33 says...

Competition? Seriously what competition is there?

2 things are clear
Clearly your anti Tesla.
Clearly you truly dont know much about the EV market.

Tesla is dominating the EV space.
Tesla has 8 quarters of growth.
Growing roughly 20% per quarter and about 70% YoY
2021 seen 84% growth in car sales.
Demand is a 6 month wait.
Tesla has sold 930K vehicles in 2021.
2022 Fremont and shanghai will make 1.2Mvehicles alone.
Giga TX and Berlin coming on line soon should add 500K vehicles.

Ford / GM do not have the capitol to make EV and ICE.
Layers of management and union demands will keep from a rapid necessary to EV.
Ford / GM have each have over 100 Billion in debt
Factory closing and chip shortages causing more Ford /GM losses
Ford / GM probably go under unless bailed out.
Ford/ Gm lost sales and Tesla grew sales.

Toyota also dragging their feet.
VW is the only company seems to be moving to EV in a substantial manor.

As you say high demand / low supply is some how bad. This is good place to be. Its a supply issue . Tesla is addressing that.

Saying Tesla doesn't pay taxes. false argument. Every company pays their taxes. If you don't like the amount then that's a government tax policy issue.

FSD is still in beta form. It is not a final product. It is pretty fuckign good as is.

Elon being pro corporate anti tax is what you would expect.
Im sure Apple, Facebook, Google are all in this same camp.
Far right? I dont know about that.

newtboy said:

So, time to end the subsidies and tax breaks for Tesla then. No more government handouts for them.

They’re not going to be so dominant when actual competition is available, coming soon from every maker. (High demand, low inventory, double sticker price gas cars aren’t a fair comparison.).
They also wouldn’t be so profitable if they paid taxes.

It was not a good move to program the self driving unit to run stop signs. (Yes, they programmed it to just “rolling stop” at stop signs recently which is not just illegal it’s also dangerous.). That’s the kind of upgrade you get with Tesla, without warning. How many recalls now?

Also not a good move for Elon to admit he’s far right, pro corporate subsidy, anti tax. It alienates most of his customers.
