Tom Scott trying to deal with his phobia of roller coasters

eoe says...

The funny thing is that, assuming he drove to the park, that was far more dangerous than the rollercoaster.

If you're not afraid of driving in a car, you shouldn't be afraid of rollercoasters or planes.

But, at the same time, I know the important word is irrational fear. So, it is what it is.

Selfishness is never a good plan. When you become selfish you end up only forgetting about yourself. Funny thing about walls. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you are on the inside or the outside.

Funny thing about the bible. It doesn't matter if you believe in the bible or not.

We all end up writing our own personal bible anyway. What's right? What's wrong? You get to decide. You make the choices and the rules.

The bible was not created as something you must believe in. Rather it is the seed that tricks you into creating your own personal bible. The bible you will really live by. You pick and choose what to keep and what to throw away and interpret. There is only one God that will punish you or reward you.

You are that God. You are the God of the world in your head that you created with the bible you wrote for yourself.

You will judge yourself by your own bible in the end because that is all there will be when you lose the person you truly love, whether it be a significant other, a good friend or a child. That is the hell you fall into. The grief you suffer is not anything your brain will be able to help you with. The grief is brought to you by love. Brought to you with good reason.

Your death has nothing to do with you and everything to do with those that love you.

Your childhood heart will be broken. Destroyed.

Luckily you have a spare. A new heart locked in the trunk. It is yours if you can find the key. Get back in the car and turn on the radio. You will hear the voices of the angels sing to you like you've never heard them before. They have been with you the whole time. You just never heard them like you do now with the pain. Their voices are coming to you from the other side of hell. Outside the wall.

Turns out you must make a decision about love and the pain and the emptiness (the Nothing) it can bring you or others. If you are lucky you will throw your bible into the flames and emerge on the other side with your new heart. A well earned heart if you can forgive yourself. Forgiving others is just practice so you know how forgive yourself.

If you can't throw your bible into the flames, then perhaps someone that loves you will be going to hell.

Really, love is all you need.

I completely agree. We need to know these people are out there and understand their beliefs and rationales in order to counter them.

Racists already know where to look for support. The only big group of people I can see getting converted by this are religious people who could adopt the KKK's interpretation of the bible which, as I stated above, terrifies me.

At this point in time, I have recovered approximately 20 covid bodies since they started falling. So far no problems due to following guidelines from experts.

First, let me tell you I respect you and what you are doing. I also see that your efforts with bob are tearing you down. When you start writing in all caps it tells me you are trying to yell through a brick wall. Funny thing about walls though. Sometimes it's hard to know if you are on the inside or outside.

Just know that some people can't be reached. I'm sure bob has heard all the facts but yet chooses to go his own way for whatever reason. This tells me that bob hasn't had enough life experiences to make good decisions. Whether he is just a troll or really believes what he says it still comes back to his life experiences or lack of.

He starts fires and you rush around with a bucket of water trying to put out the flames. Your efforts are commendable and I respect you for that.

What I don't care for is what he is doing to you. You don't deserve it and I think as long as you just put the facts out there, everyone can pick up their own bucket and help put out fires.

Have faith that one day bob will be touched by reality when someone he loves is taken away. Then your words may be heard for the first time with him. That is when he may realize for the first time your efforts were to protect him and others. You won't need to tell him "I told you so". He will remember.

If you don't believe bob can change how will he ever believe it?

In the meantime keep protecting the ones you love. They deserve your time more than bob does. If you believe bob deserves more of your time, give him a way to find the door back to you.

I'm on your side.

Dumb people call this movie “dumb” because it offends them. (They constantly make fun of dumb people.) It’s very funny. Another funny thing about it is that Maya’s character is actually the smartest person. She never goes to jail and pretty much saves everyone. She immediately knows how to deal with idiots (probably because she’s a woman

Yeah, maybe I'm lacking compassion, but fuck compassion. You bring a gun to a classroom, your freedom is forfeit. Give him all the care you want to, apart from society. It's stupid to risk countless lives and loves of people who aren't deranged to coddle the feelings of one who is.

Funny thing about anger. It generates energy. Pure unadulterated energy. Much like a nuclear reactor. It can be somewhat of a gift. Anyone can do anything they desire with that energy. What a person chooses to do with that power can strengthen them and others or destroy them and others.

Don't let Trump destroy you.

Not by intent, but as the model for America's youth of the best known and most successful person that constantly and clearly exemplifies every bad behavior mentioned to a ridiculous extreme, publicly and proudly, and worse is rewarded for it by his base, it is somewhat about him, intentionally or not.

Trump, our "leader", is following that outdated map and dragging the country along the path. It's hard to get people to change course when the leader keeps driving them farther down the wrong trail.

Kavanaugh: No More Nineties Reboots, Please | Full Frontal

ChaosEngine says...

Short answer: yes. 100%.

Long answer:
Well, let's unpack this.

"the acts of a 17 yr old boy"
I did some dumb shit when I was a kid. Nothing major, but I certainly wasn't a choir boy. But this isn't some drunken hijinx. It isn't even some petty crime.

This is an accusation of violent sexual assault.

Now, even then, I'd be willing to grant that people can change. If he'd paid his due, apologised, and proved he had changed, I'd be willing to say that everyone deserves a shot at redemption.

But...
"no other history of repeat offense"
you mean apart from the other two women accusing him of sexual assault?

Finally...
"destroy a career"
Let's cut this bullshit right here. Your career is not "destroyed" if you don't get to sit on the supreme court. I'm a software developer. I'll never work for Google or Apple or Facebook or whatever, but career is doing fine, thanks.

It's the Supreme Court... it should literally be the elite of the elite in legal minds. If you've got two candidates who are identical in all respects except one got slightly better marks in high school, you take that one BECAUSE YOU CAN.

Kavanaugh is clearly not the best available. If nothing else, this process has shown that he is woefully unsuitable for this position. He has constantly lied, deflected and then become hysterical (and yes, I'm using that particular word very deliberately).

But what saddens about this whole thing (and it really shouldn't surprise me at this point) is the hypocrisy of the right. Because it's Trumps pick, they're all "it's just youthful exuberance" and "let bygones be bygones" where you know if the tables were turned and it was a democratic pick who had even a minor misdemeanour they would be screaming from the rooftops.

The funny thing is, I still think that Kavanaugh (whatever I may personally think of the slimy fuck-weasel) deserves the presumption of innocence. If he really was the guy he's made out to be by the right, he would have said "I'm innocent, but of course this should be investigated. I am terribly sorry for this woman. She has obviously been through a traumatic incident, but she has me confused for someone else." and then it would have been investigated, probably nothing would be found (due to the age of the claims and the difficulty of gathering evidence).

He could have handled this with humility, sympathy and dignity.

But he failed every possible test. He has shown himself utterly unfit to be on the supreme court, and quite frankly, he's shown himself to be a poor excuse for a human. Fuck him so very much.
