Easy, the bus guy entered sneak mode, pressed the use button to pickpocket once the biker was close enough. While he looked through the biker's inventory and took probably his gold and maybe some necklaces and rings, he accidentally took the keys. Upon realising his mistake he tried to reverse-pickpocket the keys, got the wrong button and droppen them instead. To gain something from the whole botched thing, the bus dude told the biker in the hope to level his speech skill.
He probably just playing some Thief Guild mission now, forging some ledgers. Unless he's with the Dark Brotherhood. Then he tried to poison the biker.

Japan was supposed to buy us out too at one point, don't get your hopes up.

I am not saying that the US is a great place vs the rest of the world, I am just saying that you don't get the 'utopia' that people claim Norway to be without huge sacrifices by the people and also being a net exporter of natural resources.

Norway has one of the highest tax rates and one of the highest VAT rates in the world. They are net exporters of Oil, Natural Gas, and Seafood, almost all profits of which are nationalized by the government and rerouted into pension funds.

They are one of the highest cost of living places in the world and that is not factoring the taxes, but goods and services. If you take your family out to eat and spend 100 dollars, you are going to pay an additional 25 in just taxes.

The society is conditioned to believe in Jante's Law, so this suits them because everyone is 'equal'. However, with the immigration rates rising from poorer EU countries, there are cracks appearing in the laissez faire attitude. Protests and even a mass atttack have happened once people realized that they are now supporting people that are lower than them.

The point is, you can't simply point to the nordic socialist countries and say "Oh, what a wonderful place, if only everyone was so enlightened!" because it won't work without a specific set of circumstances. Most countries don't have those circumstances and must forge ahead in their own path. Additionally, almost no other country has the unique set of challenges that the US faces due to our position as the supposed world leader. Personally, I've long wished we would back off and let the rest of you all figure out stuff on your own. I think, however, that it wouldn't be long before one or more countries would come bitching to us to fix something.

Most of the technology you use in your daily life comes from weapons (tactical and strategic) development.

It always seemed to me that these "rules" are applied retroactively, with a fair flexibility in how rules can be broken or bent. Not that I don't think there might be something to it all, but I'm just going to hazard a guess that the ability to compose a good photo comes from innate, subconscious ability forged from lots of bad photos, rather than from learning the tricks by rote.

Damn that music is annoying. It covers up the most beautiful little *ting* sound I've ever heard. It's a nice dichotomy that such a beautiful and delicate sound is made by forging a piece of metal on a large anvil by big ass hammers. =)

What about forging and then machining then?

I'm surprised there is no cutting fluid being sprayed on it. Most all the multi-axis CNC machines I've seen (not many, admittedly--not my department), required a pretty constant flow of oil. Is this some advancement in cutting tool technology, or is it just that aluminum is soft enough not to need it?

I understand NASA has used 3D printing to create fuel injectors (or something like that) for rocket engines with considerable success. Since it's a solid metal shape with lots of vacant internal channels, there would otherwise have to be a lot of design and construction concessions if it's going to be cut or forged. I suspect that sort of 3D printing will be quite revolutionary for manufacturing once it doesn't cost stupid amounts of money.

wow...so many claims...but so little to back it up.

The biggest one is in the beginning where the woman builds up what a human being is, then dismisses gov't as if it's some sort of external alien enemy that's been forced on us.

But wait! What is gov't? Wasn't it built by....gasp! Human beings? The very thing this woman is building up as so awesome and able do stuff on it's own? A long long long time ago, a bunch of humans got together and saw the world around them and decided they needed some sort of regulating system and viola!

So what do you think would happen if gov't magically went away? Maybe the exact same thing? But this video makes the claim that gov't is bad. so maybe we should tell people they can't make a gov't. That would require some sort of..edict....or....law? But wait...who would enforce this law of no government? some sort of...government?

I've always loved those arguments based on the idea that our current system isn't perfect, therefore that is adequate justification for complete eradication of the current system and put something we know wouldn't work in it's place. You can't solve complex problems with simple solutions. That's hopefully the biggest thing society learns right now. Sarah Palin is the perfect example of that. So hopefully it's her example that will finally put the nail in the coffin in this idea that "folksy" simple solutions just don't work in a modern society.

But hey. If the non-statists are serious. They are obviously free to leave all these governments and leave it all behind and forge out on their own on some uninhabited island. Obviously they won't do that though.

They're too comfortable in our existing system despite it's flaws. How else are they going to blog their message using youtube unless they are in some sort of government controlled nation that has such technology cheaply available to its citizens? They're like the creationists that deny science, yet gladly use systems created by advanced science to spread their message and would never give up the benefits of said science.

I agree. Someday, people are going to figure out how to get along with each other without outside regulation. Someday gov't just simply won't have anything left to do. But that day is the day when we stop being human beings and become something else. Because right now, human beings are generally dicks to other human beings if they know they can get away with it. And we've decided we don't like it when human beings do dickish things to other human beings so we created a governing system to help deal with that. Sure it isn't perfect, but it's better than the alternative.
