"The Political News Media Lost Its Mind"

Januari says...

*promote

If American's are so easily wounded and their dignity so easily damaged, then they really didn't have a lot to begin with.

I don't believe most American's need to be protected from 'mean gestures'. Only extremely thin skinned narcissists and their weak minded supporters think this way. Its the childish mindset of the person who believes he can pull out his gun and fire at the individual who flicked him off in traffic. Its beneath a world leader and any legitimate nation. Not Drumph... or his supporters though, which is really sad.

KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS - Official Trailer

poolcleaner says...

I enjoyed this movie so don't let this article I'm about to post deter you from watching -- but it's something that has to be mentioned:

http://shashalaperf.blogspot.com/2011/04/voice-tricky-topic-of-race-and-voice.html

I'm not passing a judgement on this flick because especially in voice acting, people don't need to match the race they're voicing. Case in point, Phil LaMarr is one of my favourite contemporary voice actors and he has voiced a range of different races, including the Japanese hero in Samurai Jack.

Food for thought.

eric3579 says...

It's B movieish but can it be much worse than the shit Hollywood usually puts out when it comes to most superhero flicks. I say give it a chance at least With all the talent and money Hollywood has they sure have a hard time making a superhero flick that's not a pile of shit imo. Of course there are some exceptions.

Why Being Honest about Ghostbusters is Important

dannym3141 says...

Well I haven't seen Ghostbusters yet, but remember when everyone was pissed off because the new Star Wars had a woman and a black storm trooper as the lead characters?

Do you also remember when the film succeeded on its own merits and no one gave a shit any more because the film was actually good?

Releasing a film where the four principle characters are 3 intelligent white scientists and a streetwise sassy black woman is hardly a fucking exercise in equality anyway. And we're talking about a remake of a comedy that was popular and successful in the 80s - it's not like they're taking big risks and giving the women a chance to shine on their own, is it? How about an all-woman written and directed original film, or can't they spare the money? Because they seem to find enough cash for Seth Rogen or one of the other comedy clones to vomit out another catastrophe every year. Or maybe the people with the money are all men and prefer jokes about farts and masturbation.

That's the worst thing that seems to get ignored - this is Hollywood's lazy way of brushing a few crumbs from the table and saying 'See? Women have just as much power and prominence in the movies! By the way, do you know any girl who's turned 18? We need the new love interest for a 50 year old in the latest action flick. We need someone who looks just good enough that we can photoshop a huge pair of tits on her. We're going to take it in turns to take her to dinner and try to bed her before filming starts.' Hello people? There is enough sexism to deal with in Hollywood without worrying what IMDB rating Ghostbusters got and why.. Treat the disease, not the symptoms.

STAR TREK BEYOND Official Trailer #2 (2016)

ChaosEngine says...

Yeah, sign me up for the "this looks awful" train.

Right now, there is one thing that might make me want to see this and that's the fact that Simon Pegg wrote it.

Because Simon Pegg is awesome and he actually cares about this.

But I can picture the scene now...

INT: PARAMOUNT EXEC's office
SIMON PEGG: "I've just finished the screenplay for the new Star Trek movie"
PARAMOUNT EXEC flicks through script, obviously not reading it

PARAMOUNT EXEC: "Great.. great! great work, Si (can I call you Si?) Now can we add some ninjas and dirt bikes?"

SIMON PEGG: "er, that's not really what it's about. And please don't call me Si."

PARAMOUNT EXEC: "Thanks Si! So we'll have those ninjas and dirt bikes in the next draft. Also good news, you'll never guess who we got to direct it."

SIMON PEGG: "I was thinking maybe Duncan Jones. He did some great sci-fi with Moon."

PARAMOUNT EXEC: "nah, he's off making an extended blizzard cgi sequence! No, even better, we got Justin Lin!"

SIMON PEGG: "The guy from Fast & Furious? Why? why would you...."

SIMON PEGG breaks down crying

PARAMOUNT EXEC laughs maniacally

He Never Died - Official Red Band Trailer

newtboy says...

I just watched it, and the entire movie he looks angry. Really he looked incredibly high and angry to me, an odd combination, but they totally hide the tattoos (at least I didn't notice them).
Good, weird flick with some *quality ultra violence and canibalism.

It seems to be the first role he's been given where he's actually expected to act, rather than just look angry and tattooed.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny - Trailer 2

What's wrong with you?

It looks like this flick isn't doing well which I wasn't surprised.

OMFG.

I can't believe I didn't even notice they were speaking English.

Yeah, I'd prefer to hear it in Cantonese (or Mandarin) and read subtitles, but it's made in America for an American network with an audience whose vast majority despises subtitles.

Don't like the theme overall: "This magic sword gives you the power to conquer all!" Nah. But of course I still really want to see it (though not enough to subscribe to Netflix again).

Mp3 has given rise to ADD listening practices. I'm in the limousine industry and it blows me away how many people don't listen to entire songs anymore. You get 2/3 through a song *flick* next song. It's incredibly annoying.

Star Trek Beyond - Trailer 1

SDGundamX says...

Uh, isn't the song an homage to the first film when Kirk steals the car and drives it off a cliff (pretty sure this was the song playing in the background)?

Look, this is the 3rd movie in the rebooted franchise. Do people really not get the idea of a "reboot"? They're not re-making Star Trek, they're taking it in an entirely different direction. The first one clearly showed they wanted to go in the blockbuster action film direction and the second one re-affirmed that. So, it completely baffles me as to why anyone at this point would still think the rebooted franchise is going to be anything like the original Star Trek movies (let alone the TV series, which had far more time to build the characters and establish the universe than the movies do).

Now, as to the particulars of this trailer... they're going to blow up the Enterprise, again?!? We haven't "been there, done that" enough yet? And so much for their 5-year mission--looks like that is going to get cut a little short.

Still the idea of the main cast members getting stranded on a hostile planet is pretty good for allowing some cool between-character interaction and does in fact harken back to all of the TV series versions (where it seemed to happen on a fairly regular basis).

Will wait and see. Probably will be a good action popcorn flick (which is clearly what they want the series to be).

What does this big switch do?
