The Yussef Dayes Experience - Live From Malibu

newtboy says...

My first memory is actually from around 18-20 months old, I crayoned on my grandmothers new fancy wallpaper and she spanked the shit out of me. It made an impression.
My next memory was just a few months later when I crawled out on the beams about 25-30 ft up over our unfinished atrium while our house was being built. My mom caught me out there and had to pretend everything was fine to coax me back.
By 3.5 years old I had plenty of memories of wrong stuff I had done and near death experiences.

You remember when you were 3.5 years old? I've had a bad memory for as long as I can remember.

Trump Pretends He Never Compared Coronavirus to the Flu

newtboy says...

TL:DW- but Pence is now claiming all the "don't worry, everything's fine, it will just go away, it's not as bad as the average flu and flu shots are protection" talk from Trump was merely optimism....so hundreds of thousands - millions of Americans will die because Trump was optimistic, and based his administration's actions on his optimistic and ignorant pie in the sky high hopes, not the reality he was being told from all sides back in 2019.
Odd, when Clinton based her actions/inactions on an optimistic estimate of the safety of our embassy based on actual intelligence reports, 99% of Republicans wanted her in prison until her public execution because her decisions cost American lives.

Who's optimism cost more American lives? To date, it's Clinton 4-Trump 5500 (expected to rise to a minimum of 100000-250000 in the coming weeks). Trump's optimism is going to be more deadly to America than 9-11, the Iraq war, and the Afghanistan war combined...10-25 times more dead by the most optimistic predictions based on 100% compliance with social distancing and no surprises.
Trump's incompetence has now risen to the level of being the deadliest man in America ever by far. If he's a wartime president like he's labeled himself, these are war crimes. String him up, string him up, string him up......

Trump Declares Himself Above the Constitution: A Closer Look

Mystic95Z says...

That OLC "memo" that says a sitting President cannot be indicted needs to be made illegal too, no one is above the law, I dont care if its a Democrat or Republican in the WH.... Stick to the law and dont do dumb shit and everything is fine...

newtboy said:

Sets a bad presidential precedent. The Democrats need to accept that and give Warren carte blanche to do anything at all, including a blanket repeal of all Treasonous Trump's legislation and agreements, and thumb their noses at Republican whining.

I say Democrats should, for one term only, use every trick, ploy, and scheme the Republicans have used for Trump to get us back on track, closing every loophole and making it a crime to support obstruction or "refusal to cooperate" as a public official after 3 years and 9 months.
Ignore them. Dismiss them. If they suggest any legislation, crush it, call it unAmerican and stupid, and laugh at their inability to do anything about it. Defund all their pet projects and corporate welfare programs and implement universal health care with the money saved.
Turnabout is fair play. I'm sick to death of Democrats turning the other cheek in the name of civility with an uncivil adversary.

Pancreatic Cancer Patient Hassled at Hospital Over Marijuana

newtboy says...

Perhaps, but in this instance it's my hatred of bullies and liars.
Being angry isn't a waste of time, it's one of the best motivators there is for humans....yes, better at motivating than love.

I dunno, he was recording them for a reason, and what group isn't going to jump at helping a dying cancer patient address the draconian disrespect and abuse of power he was subjected to? Over an anonymous accusation.

A love of cynicism IS me. If there were awards for cynicism, I would be famous. Blind acceptance isn't a positive or intelligent trait. It takes bravery to open your eyes and admit the ugly truth, especially when admitting it contradicts the willingly blind masses, much more bravery than going along with the crowd pretending everything's fine.

BSR said:

I think your love for cynicism is taking years off your life. Now these two cops have made you angrier than you were before. In fact, I think you let them waste your time.

Your "hope" is only dust. You are more powerful than this. I know you know that. I've seen it.

As far as your love of cynicism, it doesn't serve you. You're braver than this.

I could have just let this go, but I admire your talent. Something I lack.

How the NRA hijacks gun control debates

RFlagg says...

This has been one of my key problems with the ongoing debate. They represent the product, the companies. Though the GOP way now is to let the fox guard the hen house and say everything is fine... Have a lobbyist for an industry be in charge of regulating that industry... as if he'll have the public's interest and not the industry's interests. Have the lawyer for Verizon in charge of regulating Verizon and similar companies, and we've already seen he has no interest in the public good, just what is good for Verizon. Put a guy who hates the EPA and has tried to shut it down, in charge of the EPA... let the Cuyahoga River burn again by rolling back all the regulations that prevent it from happening again. These people have zero integrity, and the NRA is just an extension of this issue, and perhaps was the wedge in the door. Let the industry's lobby group control the debate, and people get used to the idea of the fox guarding the henhouse. It is rather maddening.

"The Political News Media Lost Its Mind"

iaui says...

Lol, you just quoted Russia Today, the Western arm of the Russian propaganda machine. Of course they want to paint their histrionic theatrics as 'scaring' the West. How did that turn out? (hint: aside from Russia still owning Crimea, which apparently nobody can do anything about, everything is fine.)

Of course, in keeping up his love of and commitment to histrionic theatrics, Trump praises Putin. Whadda guy.

Completely Erase Entire Comments from People You're Ignoring (Sift Talk Post)

speechless says...

^ this is fucking hilarious to me and proves how stupid this new iteration of the ignore feature is, as some people are so retarded they can't help but to reply or talk about people even if they can't see their comments. Apparently the mere mention of my name in a thread is a "trigger".

Don't worry about it. Everything is fine. Just keep circle jerking yourselves down the drain. What's left? 20 people? What a damn shame.

1906 Movie of San Francisco 4 Days Before the Earthquake

Trancecoach says...

This is not a dupe. This is better with sound!
So many people are so well dressed! Market St has gone down since then.
I didn't count one homeless panhandler. Did you? I also didn't see any cops!

I wonder why this is... I wonder why there seems to be little in the way of street laws (or any regulation at all for that matter), and yet, there seems to be a seamless form of voluntary exchange through the video. A give and a take. And even without such regulation, there is that amazing road there. I wonder how they built it without the government. Hmm. puzzling.

Without government regulation, why aren't they shooting each other?

This must be a fake film.

No Federal Reserve, no income tax, no DMV, no gun control, no department of education, no DEA, no permits for everything, no fines (for riding on the back of a truck). What savages!

Like Marx said, way too prosperous!

(But of course, it's not a fake film.)

But...who built that road?

NSA to FBI Deputy Director: I Owe your boss a friggin beer!

radx says...

They need to confirm publicly that everything's fine, just fine. Maybe a slight bending of the law here and there, but that'll be fixed lickety-split. Then everybody can change back to American Idol.

Smoke and mirrors, just like Obama's speech in front of some 4000 claqueurs in Berlin today. I couldn't decide who I wanted to punch more, him or his frenetic drones. Probably my lickspittle government, most of all.

Let's talk about *Promote (Sift Talk Post)

bareboards2 says...

I'm not having the problem with tiny comment boxes. Everything looks fine and is easy to read. Huh.

OH. I see. I had never even noticed the icon beneath the thumbnail, I just clicked through. Huh. That doesn't bother me -- I'm sure I will learn to "see" it.

And for the HTML impaired, I miss the cheats at the top of the comment box. I don't know how to just strike out the first line when I added the second.

Storm Diaries - How is everybody doing? (Nature Talk Post)

mintbbb says...

Tuesday morning 7am in Ohio right now. The house has power and I hope not much is damaged. When I was taking my dog out around 9pm last night, I noticed that one gutter drain pipe had totally come down. If that's all the damage to the house, I am not complaining. The wind was crazy throughout the night, and it is coming from the north, which normally never happens. Right now looks like we are having teeny flakes of snow instead of rain. But the ground temp is around 34F, so it is not accumulating. I'll check outside the house once it gets lighter. Wind gusts are still somewhere around 50mph

Ohio was not hit hard, at least not where I live - so far. Local paper has a list of what is happening, state by state: http://www.10tv.com/content/stories/2012/10/30/national-state-by-state-damage.html

I hope everybody and their loved ones are safe.

I don't feel like posting silly videos today. I am just grateful that everything is fine right where I live.

20 Year Cartoon Network Tribute With 100 Cartoon Characters

sixshot says...

Interesting tribute... but sadly, I can't stand CN these days. It's drowning in shows with uninteresting art styles and nonsensical story, if any. I used to tune in to CN so I can watch things like The Boondocks and Teen Titans... but now... well... with their constant shuffling of airtimes and introductions of boring shows, I just basically stopped tuning in altogether. I'm sure many can easily testify that everything was fine and dandy back in the 1990s and 2000s.
