A lot of people think that eerie sound comes from the wind, but it's actually the wails of damned souls when they see real estate prices around here.

Eerie (and nostalgic for me, visiting all my favourite places). Had a similar trip through Český Krumlov a couple of months ago, not a tourist soul in sight. Ethereal solitude indeed. Very much a perfect one day trip to London minus a pub.

It's even more off putting when the skyscrapers are trees (redwoods). Yesterday was like living inside a pumpkin.

To be overly anal about it, uncanny valley concerns more the eeriness or revulsion 'peak' of a near lifelike replica. Think dead eyes in Polar Express or the plastic faces of Japan's android models.

This to me at least is beyond that trough on the uncanny valley chart, I do not sense any revulsion personally. I can of course detect it is still not real but no particular facet triggers that doppelganger reaction.

I remember seeing some of this while snorkeling in the Caribbean on my honeymoon, and have explored tidal pools on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Canada. Underwater is a completely different and sometimes eerie world.

When I've had the opportunity to meet internet friends in person they have always been more or less exactly the person I knew from online. It's a odd an experience where at first you feel like strangers with eerie knowledge of each other...and then 30 secs later your totally over it and it couldn't feel more normal. Then you all go back home and even though you're still "internet" friends you miss for maybe the first time. tl;dr - don't meet your internet friends because it turns them into long distance real life friends, and that fucking sucks.

Ok I think this deserves a Music tag from someone privileged. I was waiting for the music to come up because in videos like this it's almost always overdone or too dramatic. This soft music selection was perfect to watch these eery photos take you through history. Such a great video and a great sift.
