Irish People React To Black Friday
I was thinking funny Irish people and got disturbing scenes of violence
The Shocking Way Private Prisons Make Money
It is incredibly disturbing how it seems like you need dress up this morally reprehensible issue with glitzy production values and comedy to even make people aware of what's going on.
If you're interested in reading a long article, I would recommend the following Mother Jones report on an investigative reporter who took a job as a private prison security guard:

i would like to say a few things.
first,
i would personally like to welcome my anti-war democrats back to the party.it appears it only took voting in the worlds most successful used car salesmen and professional internet troll to get you fuckers to get off the bench.
saved a seat for ya!../pats seat
second,
while i can admire this woman's passion and self righteous indignation,i refuse to accept her moral condescension, because for all her flowery and bombastic condemnation of anyone who voted for trump was a vote for:racism, sexism, bigotry and hatred, and implies she has deep understanding the motivations for voting trump.
i submit that she does not.
i submit that she is a hypocrite.
i submit that while she decries her anger and outrage at the moral ineptitude of her fellow americans for failing to rebuke an obviously unqualified candidate, who openly used racist and sexist rhetoric to appeal to our most base fears and anxieties.
she was missing the main point.the main reason.
so while she stood upon her ivory tower aghast at the horror unfolding in front of her on election night, she STILL did not get it.
she watched in horror as her fellow americans ignored trumps obvious racism.
ignored the sexism.
ignored the proto-fascist verbiage.
ignored the narcissism and petty tantrums.
ignored pretty much everything leading an election night into the surreal and absurd.
because she didn't get it,and obviously STILL doesn't get it.
because voting trump was not a vote for:racism, sexism, bigotry or hatred.
a vote for trump was a "fuck you" vote.
a trump vote was a "no confidence" vote.
now of course there are those who are racists, and sexist and are most certainly bigots and hateful fuckheads..of course.
and there are those who are diehard rightwing republicans...of course.
but the majority of those who voted trump are NOT those people.the majority of americans have..for forty fucking years..tried to utilize a system to counter correct the political establishment only to get fucked in the ass by the very same system they were trying to correct.
you can go look for yourselves.it looks like a clock pendulum.swinging dem and then back to repub and then back again.
and what did the american people get?
nothing.
nada.
zip.
zilch.
they got:
expanding wars.
stagnant wages and jobs.
higher taxes.
higher living costs.
drone strikes and secret prisons.
a two tiered justice system.
private prisons.
debt peonage.
and a government bought and paid for by:big banks, wall street, military industrial complex and multi-national corporations.
all this while the american middle class fell off the map into poverty and working poor.
so while those who voted trump may be politically unsophisticated, they are most certainly not dumb.
they got it.
and they finally understood that the system that they had been raised to believe was "by the people, for the people" no longer functioned at that capacity.
so the very same people who voted for obama and his "hope and change" campaign.
voted trump.
the people who had become politically engaged by the message that sanders brought to the table, either stayed home,or voted trump.
this was a protest vote.
plain and simple.
your fellow americans just nuked the system.
because it was the SYSTEM that was corrupt and no longer was functioning.
i find their choice just as terrifying as you do,but i have to admire the audacity to just nuke the entire system.
but can you really blame them?
they tried for decades to course correct, but the two party dictatorship had a stranglehold, and they served not 'we the people" but money and power.so our fellow americans utilized their one power given to them by the constitution.
and the hypocrisy here is that when bush was in office the left was losing their shit, and rightly so,but when obama was in office all we heard was crickets....and a disturbing silence from the left.(i realize this is an over generalization.there of course was some noise coming from the left).
and this woman is so out of touch that she is convinced that voting trump was a social issue matter?
i am sorry sweetheart, but some things are just not that simple, and condescending from your ivory tower, prattling on about social constructs as if you have been given some moral authority to judge others, only serves to solidify your own tiny and secluded echo chamber.where everybody can smell their own farts and pat themselves on the back for how clever they are, without ever having to critically examine ones own position.
which just means that she will never..ever..get it.
that is my .02 anyways.
take it for what it is worth.

I'll hold judgement until I see the final movie itself. While I was initially disturbed they recast her race, this is far in the future and one would think races are more spread evenly, so I'll give them a pass on the "whitewash". It looks like it got the look/feel of the original anime. If this works out, hopefully Akira can be done with a proper treatment (though that one is a bit harder to realize in live action).
EDIT: Typical click bait story ending, "tell us how you feel about the whitewashing of the movie in the comments below".
An American-Muslim comedian on being typecast as a terrorist
@gorillaman
The only thing I see failing completely is your absurd attempt at rationalizing your bigotry--more aptly labelled in this case by its proper name: Islamophobia. I don't for a second believe what I'm about to post will change your mind about Islam or Muslims in general but I do believe that this kind of bigotry needs to be called out when it rears its ugly head. And my, you went full ugly there, didn't you... comparing Muslims to rats and seriel killers? Classy.
Despite your protestations to the contrary, there are in fact Muslims who do not believe in God but for a variety of reasons (keeping peace with religious family members, maintaining a connection to their cultural heritage, networking, etc.) continue to attend services and identify as Muslims. This is true of many believers in all the major religions, including Christianity and Judaism.
You see, as much as you'd like Muslims to all be boogeymen coming to bring Sharia law down on the rest of world, anyone who has actually met and talked with a Muslim (and god-forbid actually visited one of the countries StukaFox listed) realizes that Muslims, like all people, are extremely diverse (again, despite your protestations to the contrary).
Indeed there are Sharia zealots. But there are also moderates and reformers and even liberal radicals. Mostly, though its just a lot of people trying to get on with their lives the best way they know how.
Now, I find most religious beliefs to be repugnant. However, I don't find the ideas expressed in the Koran to be much more repugnant than, say, the Bible. In fact, I'm less concerned about what is written in supposedly holy books and more concerned with how believers attempt to implement those ideas in reality. I do indeed find particular forms of this implementation, such as forcing women to wear a bhurka, disturbing (just as I find Christians' attacks on LGBT rights disturbing). It's important to note, though, that such practices are NOT universal. For example, in some Islamic countries like Malaysia it's enough to simply cover your hair with a colorful scarf.
On the other hand, other practices that you mentioned such as Female Genital Mutilation and virginity tests ARE NOT Islamic. FGM predates Islam and is still practiced in the locales where it originated (places such as Mali, for instance) that now happen to be Islamic majority areas. The Indonesian virginity tests as well do not stem from some universal commandment in Islam but from Indonesian culture which sees women as "the symbol of the nations moral guardians".
Again, I don't suppose any of this makes any difference to you. You want to see the world in black and white, us versus them, "rats" and "serial killers" versus you, the white knight who is just trying to save us all from our cultural relativistic blindness. And so the shades of grey I am describing to you will likely go overlooked. I would be happy to be proven wrong, but I suspect the reality is I'll receive some lengthy reply that can be distilled down to, "Islam bad, hur." Or perhaps, "All religions bad, but Islam worst, hur." To which I can only reply, that demonizing the practitioners of any particular religion is unlikely to bring about the reforms you seek.
Kids React To Michael Jackson
This was much less disturbing than the "Micheal Jackson Reacts To Kids" version.
John Oliver - School Segregation
Am I the only one who thought that the test where they showed the little girl a lineup of different colored children and asked her to point out the good one and the bad one seemed a little messed up? Is it even possible to give an answer that wouldn't be disturbing in one way or another? What if she chose a white person instead of someone of color?
Sorry, but that test just has WTF written all over it.
IMPORTANT - Save The Day (America's Response)
It was entertaining until it became clear that it's just a Trump ad, using the same misleading tactics he has for his entire campaign, then it was disturbingly sad. I'd downvote if I could.
Man Arrested & Punched for Sitting on Mom's Front Porch
@Mordhaus There are plenty of mentally disturbed people who will "resist" and provide enough fodder for the cellphones to keep the momentum going to clean up this mess we are in.
Don't resist, dude. Don't be a stat.

(That guy lying on the ground wasn't being shot at, it was the other guy. What is so horrible about that particular situation was that the attendant was explaining the situation and he was ignored. You know because he was black. To me, that situation is the worst case of racism ever -- that a working black professional is not believed when he explains the situation.)
Why Home Ownership is Actually a Terrible Investment
eh, kinda, sorta, maybe, could be true depending on your circumstances...
It's a pretty short treatment of a very complex topic.
Buying a home has a lot of positives.
Financially, while you might not be building equity in the first few years, eventually, you ARE building equity. Don't buy a home unless you can afford to pay the damn thing off.
There's also a big difference between rents and mortgages. Rents go up over time and mortgages (depending on the structure) generally go down (either on a reducing mortgage or as a function of your income).
Also, mortgages stop when you've paid them off. Rent doesn't. If you're renting when you retire, well, have fun paying the same rent (or more!) until you die.
Also, if you get that dream job in Hawaii... you can actually SELL your house. Or even better, rent it out.
That doesn't even cover the intangibles like the fact that you can do whatever you want to the house. Don't like that wall? Knock it down. No asking a landlord! *
Also, no property inspections and while the bank can kick you out if you don't pay... that's the ONLY reason they can kick you out, unlike renting where you can be evicted for "damaging the property", "being a disturbance" or "because the landlord doesn't like you".
All that said, there are plenty of reasons not to buy, and they are highly dependent on your income, ambitions and the local property market.
Just don't ever buy anything where your mortgage is more than 30% of your take home pay.
* you should really ask an engineer and your local government in case your house falls over and/or you need building consent.
I dare you not to find this mind-blowing!
Admittedly, i don't watch this type of video often, but it the twist of the ragdoll is interesting and it must take a great deal of skill, concentration, and body control. Kudos.
To be honest, this video made my heart unexpectedly ache so intensely that I had to take a walk after watching it and then sit in a quiet corner for some self reflection time. After an uncertain amount of time and 2 cups of tea, I realized what memory string this was plucking. Suddenly the magnitude of this emotional disturbance made sense. This wasn't a single thread, but something that spanned across years of my life. This girl reminds me of an exgirlfriend from long ago. She loved theater and did events part time. We were deeply in love and I thought we would be married, but life often doesn't fit in with unsought expectations. Often we are told to chase our dreams; however, this, for me, was only told to me in relation to what job or career I went into. I guess that I'm slow or just never thought about applying this advice to life as a whole. Well, regrets are a waste of time, but it nice to revisit the memories. Thank you for the sift. If I might beg your indulgence, I did do have one picture that was snapped of us in an unrelated news story. Unfortunately, it's the only photo left as I lost all of mine. Here is Bella and I getting a drink at the local bar.
Ultra Spiritual Life - Flat Earth Theory
What's heinously disturbing is that there are a lot of people alive today who actually believe this bullshit. Scary. As. Fuck.
