Days Gone-gameplay video from E3
Yay for made for e3 demos. At first I thought he was ballzy for shooting at a horde he could not win against, but when he did it all the time I was sure it was gonna catch him in the ass. sure enough 2 zombies got to him and not even a scrape, god mode and milking a scenario that was scripted just for the show is lame shit.

RetroAhoy: Quake
Before the match, one of the moderators said he was going to record a demo (quake engine built-in recorder), but he never followed up when I asked him how to get a copy.
The final points were memorable - I just got the pentagram of protection, then went underwater chasing after 2 guys, and discharged the lightning gun (doesn't suicide with that power-up).
Are there recordings and photo(graph)s of you winning?
Tested HTC Vive review
I never got sold on motion control. It just has never been precise enough to feel like anything more than a gimmick to me. Maybe just confirmation bias, but everything I tried on Wii just felt really weird, clunky, and plasticky. I'll admit that I haven't really tried much of anything since then (and Wii is really old news by now).

Anyway, all the demos here looked cool for their 3D immersion, but my old bias against motion control kind of put a bit of an unfavorable spin on everything -- at least to me. Fine, small-scale motor skills are just going to be really hard to simulate with two wand-like things, even when they have multiple degrees of freedom and seemingly pretty solid accuracy.
...But, I'll admit that the archery mini-game looked like a really fun adaptation of that that wouldn't necessarily require *extremely* accurate fine control. Moving out of gimmick territory and into "ok, that could actually be extremely entertaining".
SUPER HAWT - Time only moves when you do
The full version was recently released on steam, it's pretty fun but doesn't add many gameplay innovations over the demo thing they released for the comp

Based on a short game "Super Hot" made for a competition (I think it placed in the top 3). It's free online.
Old computers did it better!
FC still rules compared to newer demos IMO. http://videosift.com/search?q=future+crew+demo for some videos!
OMFG Demoscene music. Fucking loved Future Crew back in the day. :`D

I needed one of these in college...an Alarming Bed...
Does he have to be naked for the demo?
When Video Game Companies Pay To Get Their Game Reviewed.
I think it's safe to say it has happened. I doubt it's all that common though, the majority of reviewers seem quite happy to do it for free copies. And given the state of game journalism in general, I'm not sure that paid reviews would be any less reliable or meaningful. Mind you, I don't think -any- of this is anything new...it dates back at least as far as the 80s, when dead-tree reviewers were pretty much assumed to be biased by the advertising dollars paid to the mag in question.
As always with reviews, the best approach is to play a demo when possible, and when it's not available, find a reviewer with similar taste to your own and take the rest with a big grain of salt.
SUPERHOT - Video Game Review
Unfortunately, there isn't a demo. It's available on Steam for $22.50 though. It's definitely worth playing - watching the game in "motion" doesn't really do it justice.
Interesting. I have never heard of it before since I am out of the gaming scene. Is there a playable demo?

Classic DOS games roundup, circa 1995
About 10 years ago I threw all those old Demo CDs/Disks out. I kind of wish I hadn't, even though I'd been lugging around years of them.

So yeah, I do remember those days! I miss PCGamer demodiscs, and the 90's gaming scene in general! Good times.
I was 13/14, games back then were magical. Anytime I was on a plane or in the car I was reading PC Gamer or CGM drooling over the demos (or shareware!), ads, previews and reviews. Remember those days? When information on gaming was largely through print?! I still remember those Dark Forces previews, I could have shot a load. PC gaming at that point really was fucking cutting edge.

1997 & 1998 also hold a special flame in gaming for me - 1997: Ultima Online (actually learned HTML and had a website for UO cuz I was a NERD), Fallout, GTA, Age of Empires, Dungeon Keeper, Quake II, Myth (incredible multiplayer component probably even still).
1998: Starcraft, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate, Thief, Grim Fandango, Fallout 2, Tribes, THIEF, Unreal, Commandos.... so many innovative games back then. Now we just build on them over and over and over again
Here's Why You Need Winter Tires As Shown By A Tricycle
The idea of this is great, the demo not so much.
