Glenn Beck: Obama is Racist, Hates White People

NetRunner says...

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
You go around slavishly obeying the PC mantra that black people can't be racists.

Actually, lately, we keep having to say that minorities expressing concern over perceived racist behavior does not itself constitute racist behavior.

To put it more plainly, it is quite possible to inadvertently cause offense with poorly chosen words or deeds. That doesn't necessarily make the offender some sort of bigot, but it absolutely, unequivocally does not follow that the offended person is a bigot because they took offense.

You guys seem to think tossing the word "racist" at minorities will make you appear that to be more color-blind than other people. But to people who understand that the trick to improving race relations is sensitivity to other people's feelings, it comes across as an obvious and disgusting ploy to give a wink and nod to racists, while trying to appear enlightened to people who're stupid enough not to see through you.

Obama doesn't need to apologize for saying he thought the police acted stupidly for arresting his friend in his own home. It wasn't the most politically wise thing for him to express that opinion in a public setting like that, but I think what he said was fairly delicate despite the use of the word "stupidly". He went out of his way to say he didn't know the facts, and that he doesn't know whether race played a role, but then recounted his own experience that race can factor into these sorts of situations.

To demand he couch it any more delicately would be to demand he stand silent about any issue where he sees even the slightest bit of racial discrimination, and that seems like the wrong thing to push for, esepecially if your concern is really improving race relations instead of just looking to score political points.

^You have to understand my background as well. I had no concept of racism when I was a child. All of the attention to it seems to only create a since of something that shouldn't be there. I think the difference is color blindness as apposed to color sensitivity. For me, it will be a better day when people don't care about such things at all than when supposed markers occur.

That was my point. It will be more magical when we don't care about race at all, that was my point, seems to have been lost in translation though.

edit: ACK! dude, I just realized that you thought I called you a racist! Dude, no way. We just have a different sentiment on the issue is all.

Same-Sex Couple Tries To Marry, Turned Away (Election Talk Post)

I'm sure that it's been said that homosexuality is equivalent to; left-handedness, color blindness, extraordinary artistic talent, mad math skills, double-jointedness, brown eyes, blond hair, in short we are all "aberrations" or variations on God's great theme.

Actually, it wasn't until 1973 that the American Psychological Association declassified homosexuality as a mental illness. Dr. Laura (from radio) ruined her career when she called homosexuality a "biological error" and "deviance in society." It wasn't too long ago... I remember listening to her show 8 years ago or so. Society as a whole hasn't come far enough to say homosexuality is just another "variation on God's great theme."

I'm perfectly happy to go as far afield of the topic of gay marriage and talk about the key issue which is central to the debate, but I'd still like an answer to the last question "who is it really hurting". I do sympathize with the frightful CP420, but please also accept a more concise version of that statement: "Don't hate a hater".

It's a strange exercise to bring 'evolution in action' into the a flame war about homosexuality, because it's like trying to kill an opponent with their own gun, not really knowing how to use it. Evolution really shouldn't have anything to do with it. If we accept the work of Darwin, we have to accept that in large part the definition of "civilization" is a defiance of nature in every way possible.

I'm sure that it's been said that homosexuality is equivalent to; left-handedness, color blindness, extraordinary artistic talent, mad math skills, double-jointedness, brown eyes, blond hair, in short we are all "aberrations" or variations on God's great theme.

Do you ever have any trouble with the "verification code" digits like on the contact us form? It uses colored numbers and I've always had color blind people in mind, always assuming they'd just keep trying a different image until they could see all the digit colors or that any colors on white background would still be visible.

Your experience?

And finally, how's my avatar look to you? Is it like all b&w?

Fox Attacks: Black America

NordlichReiter says...

One thing is for certain, no one is treated equal. Equality like freedom is mostly and illusion for our mindless consumers to keep the with out a mind. If you want to be treated equal you have to fight for it no matter who you are, (non violent fighting works best). Ill explain; if you do every thing in your power to do with out resorting to violence, and the other side takes violence as an action you have already won the battle! We are so close to actually have a majority of very good people who can make the "Color Blind society" work that this crap that the media puts out there is sickening.

A quote i saw on a classmates shirt today: "Violence is the last refuge of the Incompetent." - Ive seen many violent things happen because of racism, and I have been the victim of racial slurs as a Caucasian child in the south from people of my race, and other races. These things cause quick tempered reactions.

What we must understand is that the Civil rights act is only a piece of paper, it comes down to groups of people and their actions toward a minute few. Examples whats to keep a group of policemen for shooting a suspect because he is black or white? I think that a piece of government paper is not going to stop that bullet, or that night stick. Its the meaning of that paper that will check that bullet before it is fired, or break that night stick before or after it falls on the heads of those being beaten. We must endure to teach our children, and all those around us that Violence is not an answer to anything, and to approach any situation with violence as a first action is an undertaking of complete stupidity.
