Strange engine swap gives 1970 Roadrunner a Detroit Diesel

oritteropo says...

Now I'm not 100% sure here, but I get the impression that 0-60 times weren't a major consideration in this engine swap. He sourced everything out of a junkyard he runs and built the car for next to nothing.

I did like the idea, from the comments, of chroming the part of the engine above the hood to make it look like a big blower

Nice job, but what's the 0-60 now? Can it spin the tires? I get that it's now a torque monster that can go anywhere, but 100hp won't get you there very fast.

The Link That Can Crash Chrome: http://a/%%30%30

MilkmanDan says...

Good explanation without a high CS knowledge barrier. (Bonus ease-of-grandma-understanding points for avoiding the use of the word/term/acronym ASCII)

Then again, most people that lack that knowledge probably don't much care *why* it crashes Chrome, they just want it to be fixed. Which I'm sure will be imminent, at which point only CS nerds (like me) care.

...Still, at least I found it interesting!

No problem! At first glance, I could see it as well. I even reminisced further back to the mid 90's...thinking chromed versions of these http://i.ytimg.com/vi/UVEoB8jc4TQ/hqdefault.jpg.

- is the amp's I was thinking of, I recall you could take the end caps off and joint amp's together for a cosmetic appeal. Although, I might be wrong on that as well ( without reading about it ) because all the wires and setting controls are on the sides.

Thank's for bringing that up, it must be some sort of grill off of a vehicle or so.

watched it again, it is totally the front end of a vehicle, from the side shot you can see it clear as day, not to mention the head light area. Glad I have that figured out now thanks !

Archers Comic-Con Message

BoneRemake says...

It is just silver spray paint, they make themselves shiny and chrome for their enter into Valhalla. It is nothing more than a gesture using silver/chrome spray paint. They warboys worship the V8 and use the term shiny as well as chrome repeatedly throughout the movie to signify something positive. I have watched it literally over 15 times so I sort of know what I am talking about, a little.

They're greyed even after typing your comment?

Nothing comes to mind. Nothing has changed on the server recently.

If you're in Chrome can you hit F12 and see if there are any JS error messages on the Console tab?

How do?

Please, since last evening I am unable to submit comments on videos. The Submit and Preview buttons are greyed.

What is this thing and what's it doing?

mxxcon says...

For some reason it's completely blank for me in Firefox and Chrome. Only works in IE.

Cos the video repeats itself three times which kinda annoys me. Is there a disadvantage to tube chop that i'm not aware of? I have no problem changing it if someone would rather it be a yt embed.

*return -- had to do some mussing with this to remove the embed code which was triggering a phishing error in Chrome (due to the mindcrap.com domain of the embed).

Internet Explorer Sucks

RedSky says...

Rumour is that MS's W10 browser will support Chrome extensions. Somehow.

I'm somewhat curious. I'm falling out of favour with Chrome, it gets bogged down and chuggs badly on mobile CPUs when you use font scaling. Also Google's application design is increasingly becoming restrictive and frustrating. Why is there no way to turn off auto-update? Why is the interface locked from modification and I'm forced to squint painfully at the address bar on my 1920x1080p 13 inch laptop?

Firefox has terrible font rendering and I haven't been able to improve it. I originally moved over from it because it seemed to have memory issues where over time videos would randomly freeze for like half a second during play intermittently, dunno if they fixed it.

Opera seems better in these regards but I can't for the life of me get used to browsing without alt + # for switching between tabs.

Meanwhile IE 11 handles font scaling well and memory wise seems fine, but also lacks basic extensions at the moment. If they fix this issue I may switch over at least on my laptop.

Relating to the Reddit stuff... Hide Fedora is a needed Chrome extension that hides all the supposed Reddit/4Chan comments that plague any YouTube video that makes it near the front page of Reddit. Nearly the best extension I've ever installed. I now return you to your regular Videosift thread.
