Have I been Trumped by Google? (Sift Talk Post)
@dag @lucky760 Thanks to my nephew [who isn't even a PC guy] I now know I'm cookin' with Windows 10 Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.953) and Chrome Version 57.0.2987.133

Hopefully this info will help in resolving whatever is going on.
I'm not proficient enough [nor do I have the inclination to stress myself out right now] to understand what hoops to jump through with regards to Chrome nor do I really want to download another browser for one site. But thank you for your suggestions mxxcon [even if they're greek to me]
@Mordhaus and @PlayhousePals what version of Chrome and OS are you running?
Have you tried submitting from incognito mode or Chrome's guest profile?
When you open Chrome's dev console, what errors/messages do you see there?

Or you could start Chrome with:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-xss-auditor
firefox works, guess I'll have to tolerate it until this gets resolved.

sigh ... no. I'm all set up on chrome and I hate change
I have no idea about dealing with and setting up a new browser.

maybe I'll take a break for awhile and hope things work out
color me 'old and in the way'
Have you tried a different browser, like Firefox?
Have I been Trumped by Google? (Sift Talk Post)
Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, fully updated. Version 57.0.2987.133 of Chrome. Tried submitting from incognito and guest profile. No errors in dev console tab.
Edit: Also downloaded canary (dev/test version of chrome) as suggested by chrome support. same error.

It's more a matter of preference than anything. I like how chrome displays certain sites and it has a couple of extensions that I really like.

For those with Chrome issues, how about a new OS account and retrying Chrome from scratch to see if it is related the old Chrome and OS' datas?

@Mordhaus
Why would you prefer chrome over firefox?
Just asking because I do not have a preference after opera dropped out of my sweet spot.

This seems to be a false positive issue on chromes end for some days.
Saw some logs from admins reporting the same for the current version of chrome post 04032017. Also, there were false positives due to a bug some time ago.
It can result from taking up malformed parts of the page due to missing / unbound variables etc. and interpreting it as modified site content. Even perfectly fine content can be misinterpreted in certain circumstances.
example of older false positive bug: empty attribute in form header
<form method="POST" action=>
Try using another browser for the time being.
Do not disable protective measures. It is however possible that indeed parts of your page were modified by browser plugins and or wanted or unwanted additions to your system. If in question perform a scrubbing on your system via a bootable system if desired.

Seems this problem has affected @Mordhaus also https://videosift.com/talk/Chrome-Error-preventing-submissions. So the two sifters who provide a huge chunk of our content have been knocked out
and i have to assume there may be others. I'm going to *frontpage this sifttalk as it will barely be seen if it's not.
Anyone have the skills to try and figure a fix?
Have I been Trumped by Google? (Sift Talk Post)
Well, that's a new one...
Have you tried a different browser, like Firefox?
Is anyone else seeing anything like this?
Nothing has changed on our end, so I'm not sure what Chrome is picking up on. Hmm...
John Oliver - Thailand is obsessed with Adolf Hitler
I put a browser in incognito mode (so there would be no cookies / history to tailor results with) and tried it. Should be pretty much on par with average Thai results since I have Thai ISP and went through google.co.th. Also, I changed the search term to "Hitler" in Thai language script: "ฮิตเลอร์".
I'm pretty functionally fluent in listening to Thai and semi decent at speaking it (I can get along in daily life fine although I'll never be mistaken for a native speaker since I didn't grow up with a tonal language). I'm not completely illiterate when it comes to reading it, but I'm quite slow. Sort of "Dick and Jane" level. Anyway, it would take forever for me to interpret the results of that search reading everything in Thai, but here's a quick once-over:
#1 result is https://th.wikipedia.org/wiki/อดอล์ฟ_ฮิตเลอร์
The Thai wikipedia article on Hitler is a bit shorter than the English one, but seems to cover everything in a similar way. I didn't try to read much to confirm but it does talk about the holocaust and Jews.
#2 result is http://teen.mthai.com/variety/57766.html
Seems to be a blog-type article on Hitler, written by a (high school?) student. I used the Chrome translate feature (which generally produces nonsense with Thai to English, but can get you broad strokes) to save time. This one does mention that Hitler hated Jews and talks about the holocaust being "cruel", although it seems to present a sort of positive take on Hitler in general. At least, more than we'd generally be comfortable with in the West.
#3 result is https://pantip.com/topic/31569039
This is a web forum. The article/post is called "(เรื่องน่ารู้) 10 อันดับเหตุผลที่ทำไมฮิ
605;เลอร์ถึงเกลียดชาวยิว", which google translate converts to "(I know) 10 reasons why Hitler hated the Jews". My stab at a better translation would be "(Things you Should Know) 10 reasons why Hitler hated the Jews". Thai doesn't really have pronouns, so that bit in parenthesis is semi ambiguous, but น่ารู้ means "should know" or "worth knowing".
This one is interesting. The list it presents is:
* Jewish influence in communism.
* Jewish causes lost World War 1.
* Jews make Depression
* Hitler knot lodged since childhood.
* Hitler was influenced by the idea against genocide.
* Hitler's brain has been affected as a soldier.
* Master Race theory
* Hitler believed in conspiracy theories about Jews.
* Political nationalism
* Hitler envious of wealthy Jews.
It explains those in brief terms (a few sentences each) and then there is a poll where readers can vote on which one was the main reason that Hitler hated Jews. There's some anti-semitic implications mixed in there, but it is also blunt about the evil stuff that Hitler did and doesn't present him as a person to be emulated / respected.
I wish I read Thai better so I could get a better read on those. Your question is quite interesting, along with (my potentially incorrect take on) those first few search results.
I'd be very interested to know what the first few results would be if the average person in Thailand did google Hitler. Given that they tailor their results to what they think you're looking for, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not what you'd expect.

That's not entirely true that you heard nothing back. I responded to you on your profile the first time you mentioned it. We know it's a problem and we've been discussing it. If it was an easy fix that we knew how to fix ... it would be fixed. I find it annoying too.
We had to go to SSL because of browser changes that Google made to Chrome - this is an unfortunate side-effect. We've tried a few things to fix it to no avail ... but we'll get there.
I addressed this issue privatley with the powers that be a week ago and have heard nothing back regarding a possible resolution. @lucky760 @dag
Any sifter out there have an idea for a potential fix of this issue? Possibly has something to do with SSL as it seems to have coincided with its implimintation https://videosift.com/talk/SSL-Now-Enforced-Site-Wide

Ah. Late last night after 11 PM PST, VS was showing:

"Secure Connection Failed

I could reproduce this error in both of my computers (64-bit W7 HPE SP1 OS & 64-bit Linux/Debian Jessie/stable)'s SeaMonkey v2.46 web browsers. Also, Firefox v51 in my Debian box. I could not reproduce it in W7's IE11 & Debian's Chrome v50 web browsers that aren't based on Mozilla's Gecko engine.
I told Dag and Lucky760 about it, and it was fixed about 1.5 hours later. Kudos to the quick fixes!
At that moment, Firefox 51.0. But I've had some ciphers disabled since the early days of Logjam attacks, which included all ciphers using Diffie-Hellman without elliptic curves. That's why there was no overlap between accepted ciphers on my end and ciphers supplied by VS.

Upvote just because the "make america kitten again" extension for chrome worked for the thumbnail, even though it wasn't a pic of Trump.
